Valentine’s Day is a day that’s all about showing love to the people you love. It’s been so Hallmark-ed into being a day about love-dovey relationships, but in case don’t find yourself in a relationship in time for Valentine’s Day, don’t sweat it. Let’s be real — you don’t need to have an SO in order to have a good time this month. If you’re in search of fun friend dates to go on in Toronto, then today is your lucky day.
Here are 10 friend dates to go on with your pals this V-Day!
Go skating on The Bentway
Sure you could go skating with bae this Valentine’s Day but who’s to say you can’t grab your #Galentines instead? The Bentway’s gorgeous skating trail is open everyday until February 17 so if you haven’t been yet this season, now is the time. Plus, it’s beautifully illuminated at night which will make for some stunning IG photos as well.
Valentine’s Day Tour @ The Bata Shoe Museum
If you and your gal pals are shoe obsessed, there’s nowhere better to be than at the Bata Shoe Museum. This year on Valentine’s Day, the museum is hosting an unforgettable evening that will include a V-Day inspired tour and lots of fun, Instagrammable moments. Carrie Bradshaw would be proud!
Enjoy A Chocolate Workshop
If you and your bestie have a major sweet tooth, then you’ll want to check out this chocolate workshop happening on February 14 at Kitchen24 in North York. During this chocolate-filled evening, you’ll not only learn chocolate moulding, but you’ll also get to try making truffles and chocolate dipped strawberries, too. Yum!
Head to the spa
Who said couple’s spa treatments were reserved for actual couples? We say that’s BS so if you and your pal are in need of a spa day, why not head to the Guerlain Spa at Hotel X Toronto and experience its Between Friends spa package? Friend dates in Toronto don’t get much better than this! This is the perfect way to relax and catch up with your bestie while enjoying the spas ‘The 8’ massage as well as a soothing hand massage.
Get a mani at Tips
Everyone loves a mani, right? If you and your girlfriends are needing some TLC and girl time, head to your fave nail salon for a manicure. Not sure where to go? Our fave nail salon in the city is Tips Nail Bar where the folks there are known for killer nail art. If you’re unsure of what colours to try out, CND (the team behind Shellac) has some beautiful shades that are perfect for the occasion.
Visit the Hershey pop-up @ Union Station
If you can’t be with your bestie on Valentine’s Day, it doesn’t mean that you can’t do something to show your love. Head to Union Station on February 10th and 11th from 3 to 7:30 p.m. to visit the Hershey’s Kisses Sweet Reunions Post Office where you can send Kisses across Canada.
Experience high tea @ The Windsor Arms
Live out your royal fantasies with your Galentine’s during high tea at the Windsor Arms Hotel. The Yorkville hotel is known for its high tea service and it features classic finger sandwiches, assorted petit fours, and of course, lots of tea. In case none of your girlfriends are available, we think this would be a fab surprise present for your mom, too!
Check out Toronto Light Fest
If funds are tight for you and your pals, join the club. Just because you’re wanting to save cash, doesn’t mean you have to stay in and eat instant ramen for friend dates in Toronto. Head to the Distillery District to wander around the historic site and also take in the amazing light installations that are part of Toronto Light Fest. The event is free to attend, plus you and your pals will get some fabulous photos too!
Relive your teen years at Taking Back Valentine’s Day II
Were you and your friends into emo-rock as teens? If so, then you and your squad won’t want to miss Taking Back Valentine’s Day II that’s happening at Junction City Music Hall on, you guessed it, February 14. This show consists of tribute bands playing music full sets by emo groups like Jimmy Eat World, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, and Thrice. Plus, the event is also fundraising for Supporting Our Youth, which works to support the health and well-being of queer and trans-spectrum youth.
Enjoy a prix-fixe dinner
If you’re looking for a casual way to catch up with your girlfriends, then keep it simple and enjoy a prix-fixe dinner at The Carbon Bar. This Queen East eatery boats some of the best food in town with its American-style fare. To celebrate V-Day, the restaurant is offering a special three or four course Valentine’s Day prix-fixe menu that’s too good to pass up.
