Not long after the snow melted earlier this year, Toronto’s retail scene got a shake-up with the opening of Stackt Market, the city’s first market made from shipping containers. Since it opened, the unique shopping experience has been home to numerous pop-up shops and community events that are fun for the whole family. Just because summer is coming to an end, it doesn’t mean the fun stops at Stackt. Keep reading for a whole bunch of exciting events that are taking place this fall at Stackt Market!
Here are 6 fun events that are happening at to visit Stackt this fall.
Fall Equinox Festival
On September 21 and 22, Stackt will celebrate Fall Equinox with a two-day site-wide celebration of the planet. Festivities include a goodness-packed farmers’ market, a flower market, harvest block party by Belgium Moon, workshops, talks, panels, karaoke, and ping-pong.
Pretty Elevated by Irisa Pop-Up
Female-focused cannabis brand Irisa has popped up at Stackt with Pretty Elevated, a first-of-its-kind community collective with curated retail, workshops, and a co-working space created to empower and amplify local women-led businesses. Since August 15th, and until September 22, the pop-up studio has featured a rotating selection of local female-owned businesses, each at different stages of the entrepreneurial journey. Each entrepreneur has the opportunity to activate in the Pretty Elevated space for two weeks, rent-free(!), to promote his or her business, and grow their customer base.
Ping-Pong Party
Hit up Stackt on September 25 and 26 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., for a high-energy ping-pong party. Astound Commerce has teamed up with Elevate King West for the extravaganza, which includes tracks from DJ Lee Groves and a digital leaderboard tracking the spins and wins of underdogs and champions. The Astound Ping Pong Party is the place to either unwind or wind up for some evening drinks and fun (and an interactive place to meet fellow singles).
Stackt-Up by RxFit
RxFit presents a unique wellness series with an all-encompassing look into fitness and health in a group setting. Taking into account different lifestyles and goals, Stackt-Up gives you a variety of distinctly challenging (yet fun and exciting) weekly themed workouts. The sessions feature special activations, discoveries, and giveaways, and run Wednesdays until October 16.
PAUSE PORTAL Story Time
The new PAUSE PORTAL installation offers an immersive and interactive railway viewing platform that invites viewers to pause and take a moment. Take in the sights and sounds of travel, & movement of people and goods, and to reflect on the history of this place that has become one of Canada’s busiest transportation hubs. Pause Portal was commissioned by Urban Discovery, which funded by The Public Space Incubator – a project of Park People made possible through funding from Ken and Eti Greenberg and the Balsam Foundation. Urban Discovery is a youth-focused initiative that aims to change perceptions about things normally viewed as a nuisance—like a large downtown rail corridor. Presented by stackt, Earth Day Canada, and Children’s Discovery Centre, Pause Portal was designed and fabricated for community use at stackt by ====\\DeRAIL Platform for Art + Architecture with Marek Kubat (MTK Fabrication), in collaboration with Blackwell Structural Engineers.
Brews + Chews
The summer’s popular Brews + Chews has been extended until the end of September. Bring your dog and hit up the Belgian Moon patio on Wednesday nights in September from 6 to 8 p.m. for brews and doggy ice cream from Barker and Snouts. Mingle with fellow dog owners, enjoy live music, and soak up the last of the patio season.
