If you love Nike as much as us, you’ll be happy to hear that the brand has something big in the works for 2020.
According to Globes, an Israel-based publication, Nike will be opening a huge Niketown flagship store at Yorkdale Shopping Centre.
The store will be operated by Israel retail fashion chain Fox-Wizel Ltd. (Fox) and will span over two floors and 32,000-square-feet, making it the largest store that Fox operates anywhere across the globe. Fox currently operates seven other Nike stores in Canada, and Niketown is slated to open in November 2020.
Based on a rendering and sleuthing by Retail-Insider, the store looks like it will take over the current Zara Home and Le Chateau on the ground floor, and the former Home Outfitters on the second level.
What makes Niketown different than other Nike stores is its product offerings.
Niketown offers a variety of different services and products. For example, Niketown New York offers personal run analysis, pant hemming, bra fitting, and personal shopping and styling. It also serves at a meet-up for Nike+, Nike’s run group. Globe notes that the large concept also offers regular Nike products and its technologies.
There are already Niketown’s across North America and Europe, however, this will be Toronto’s only Niketown. Retail-Insider points out that there once was a Niketown on Bloor St. West, but the concept was scaled back and the old Niketown location is now part of a Brooks Brothers store.
Niketown has reportedly signed a 10-year lease with Yorkdale with the option to extend for five years once completed.
So we can expect it to stay put for a while once it’s open. Projected revenues for the store are over $20 million annually. We’ll keep you updated as more news arises.
