In honour of National Pizza Day, we’ve rounded up the best places to get a slice in Toronto! From New York to Detroit-style and everything in between. You’ll never be stuck on where to get delicious pizza again!

Check out these hot places to get pizza in Toronto

Slowhand Sourdough Pizza

Slowhand Sourdough Pizza, in the heart of Leslieville, serves light, airy, and delicious sourdough pan pizza! Sourdough is delish on its own and in a pizza!? Heaven. They’ve combined their favourite techniques from Italy and Detriot with sourdough culture from the San Francisco gold rush to create their one-of-a-kind pizzas.

North of Brooklyn Pizzaria

North of Brooklyn Pizzaria has multiple locations scattered throughout Toronto. They have many creative and classic pizza toppings for their traditional New York-style pies. From NY Cheese pizza, which features a blend of different cheeses and spices, to their Maui Wowie pizza which features a shredded mozzarella blend, cream, double-smoked bacon, jalapeños, red onions, and a pineapple glaze. Hungry yet?

Descendant – Detroit Style Pizza

If you’re looking to indulge in some deep-dish, Detroit-style pizza in the city, look no further. Detroit-style pizza is characterized by being deep-dish, square-shaped, and “up-side-down” – as the sauce goes on top. This spot has become a Toronto favourite since opening and is definitely worth a taste.

General Assembly Pizza

General Assembly Pizza opened in 2017 with the mission to bring people better pizza. Mission accomplished! They use naturally leavened pies that combine old-world techniques with new-world flavours, offering something truly unique when it comes to pizza. You can even order it frozen, heat up, and enjoy it at home! Trust us, it’s nothing like grocery-isle pizza.

Blaze Pizza

At Blaze Pizza, it’s about more than just delivering delicious fast fired pizza (which they do, btw). It’s about making intelligent choices about what we put in our bodies. They only ever use fresh dough – not frozen, which is made in-house using unbleached flour, filtered water, extra-virgin olive, salt, and a touch of sugar. No chemicals or additives. It doesn’t stop there though, they believe the decisions we made for the Earth are important, too. Which is why their packaging is recyclable, compostable, and/or made from post-consumer reclaimed materials. We love to see it!

Pizzeria Badiali

This Toronto-favourite pizza shop is located in the West end and serves New York-style classic pizzas that everyone who tastes, seems to love. They use carefully sourced, house-made ingredients, so you can be assured that getting a pizza from Pizzeria Badiali is very different from grabbing a pizza at one of the popular chains.

Pizza Libretto

Pizza Libretto opened its Ossington location in 2008, committed to delivering a true southern Italian experience after drawing inspiration from Neapolitan pizza! As it turns out – they’re one of the first restaurants in Toronto to serve VPN-certified pizza, which is laid out by a Napoli government. So it goes without being said, they take pizza very seriously here. Pizza Libretto now has 4 locations around Toronto and has expanded its menu to include even more ingredients and cooking styles!

Maker Pizza

Maker Pizza has 5 different locations, so it shouldn’t be too hard to get your hands on! Their motto is “It must be perfect, or it must be made again!”, and let us tell you. Their pizzas look pretty perfect. Each location offers delivery 5km from its respective restaurant, so you can enjoy one of their perfect pizzas from the comfort of your own home.

Pizzeria Via Mercanti

Another Toronto-fav pizza joint, Pizzeria Via Mercanti, opened in Kensington Market in 2012, by Romolo, who had over 30 years of experience as a Pizzaiolo at the time! It has since expanded to multiple locations. The restaurant specializes in Neapolitan pizza, and also offers house-made pasta, paninos, antipasti, and desserts! Yum.
