The spooky season is here. Craving a taste of the supernatural? There is no shortage of opportunities to get spooked, this month in Toronto. From ghost walks to cemetery tours to live séance, there is a spooky event for every Halloween fan who wants to make the most of this thinly-veiled season. Indulge your inner ghoul at one of these upcoming events – if you dare. 

Here’s where to get spooked in Toronto this month.

Murder and Mayhem Cemetery Tour of the Toronto Necropolis Cemetery

Join this 2-hour walking tour hosted by Toronto Cemetery Tours to experience its history – which dates back to 1850, like never before. Hear stories of Toronto’s last public hanging, an unsolved murder, a stolen identity, and more. 

Where: Necropolis Cemetery, 200 Winchester St., 
When: October 29, 2 – 4 pm and October 30, 11 am – 1 pm, 2 am – 4 pm

Ghostly Walk through the Town of York

Come and explore the ghostly haunts of the Old Town of York, and hear the dark tales behind some of the establishments you know and love. The Town of York Historical Society has been running this ghost walk since the 1970s, making it one of the city’s oldest ghost walks. You’ll very likely never see downtown Toronto the same again. 

Where: Tours start and end at Toronto’s First Post Office, 260 Adelaide St. East
When: October 13, 20, 28, 7 – 8:30 pm

Zombie Apocalypse + Legends of Horror 

The abandoned Biolux medical lab next to Casa Loma has been transformed into an immersive haunted house experience for the month. Step inside and witness disturbing showrooms, hear about gruesome experiments, and come face to face with zombies. Will you survive the zombie apocalypse? Come and find out at this spooky event. 

Where: 175 Kendal Ave, Toronto
When: October 13 – 31, various times from 6 – 11 pm

The Howland Inn Saence 

Up for an intimate encounter with the paranormal? Join mindreader James White for an authentic Victorian Séance at one of Toronto’s oldest and most haunted Inns, the Howland Inn. Groups are kept small at 16-18 people per event, and if you’re really game to make contact with the spirit realm, book a special ‘witching hour’ ticket at 2 am, when paranormal activity is thought to be highest. 

Where: Meet at Howland Ave and Dundas Street West to walk to the site 
When: September 30th – November 26th, 7:15 pm

6th Annual Haunted Campus Ghost Tour at U of T 

The U of T downtown campus is a thing of beauty, with its historic architecture and leafy walkways, but the history behind it is dark. Join the University of Toronto Students’ History Collective for their Haunted Campus Ghost Tour and be led through the historic campus as Victorian ghosts share chilling tales from its past.

When: October 28 – 30, 6:30 pm – 8 pm

Where Dark Things Dwell  

Black Creek Pioneer Village provides the backdrop for this unique, chilling, immersive escape game created and hosted by Secret City Adventures. Voyage through the hamlet of Black Creek Village as you and your crew of friends work to solve puzzles across the historic property so you can lift the curse before it’s too late.
