The Toronto shopping neighbourhood known for its upscale tenants has just welcomed an unlikely new neighbour, Urban Planet.
According to Retail Insider, a 2-year lease has been signed by YM Inc. (Urban Planet’s parent company), even though the sign outside the store says it’s a “pop-up.”
Opinions in the comments of Urban Planets Instagram post announcing its new location are divided. One comment states, “This brand does not match with the architectural elegance of the building,” another says, “Weird store to have in Yorkville…” While other comments seem to be excited about the new location sharing, “YESSSSS” and “EPICCCCCC.”

Time to say au revoir. It’s been announced today that one of Toronto’s fanciest French restaurants, Le Société, will be closing at the end of the year.

The French bistro, owned by INK Entertainment, was so popular in Toronto that its success inspired a second location to open in Montreal after just one year.
“We have had an amazing tenure on Bloor Street with La Société,” said the company’s CEO, Charles Khabouth, in a press release announcing the closure on Wednesday. “We attribute this lifespan to our talented chefs, staff, and of course our loyal customers. The city is evolving, as are we, and we think Toronto is ready for what we have coming.”

To celebrate one last time, Le Société will serve a $100 prix fixe menu starting at 7:30 p.m. on December 31. In addition, folks can also enjoy a live DJ performance and complimentary sparkling wine at midnight.

If Le Société’s closing has you down, then cheer up because it’s reported that this closure will make room for a brand new INK Entertainment-owned spot that’ll sit in the soon to be vacated space.
