Now that the countdown to the New Year is officially on, the time has come to take a moment to reflect on (and rediscover) some of the biggest moments in fashion and beauty in 2019. This past year, there have been countless incredible designers, celebrities, and even some up and comers join forces to bring the world some limited-edition collaborations that we just couldn’t get enough of.
This summer, Pop-In@Nordstrom teamed up with Herschel Supply Co. to create a colourful collab that was anything but ordinary. Designed by Olivia Kim, Nordstrom VP of Creative Projects, this funky collection featured Herschel’s signature backpacks, duffle bags, cross-bodies, and fanny packs, but with a modern upgrade inspired by the ’80s and ’90s. We’re talking about plush orange tiger print, colour-blocked corduroy in primary colours, teddy bear fleece, and more. *Swoon*.
With over 6 million loyal YouTube subscribers and some of the most-watched beauty tutorials on the internet, it was only fitting that Carli Bybel teamed up with Anastasia Beverly Hills to create a killer eye shadow palette. The 12-shade palette comes with matte, metallic, shimmer, and duo-chrome finishes in neutral, pink, and purple hues and is decked out in a swoon-worthy millennial pink case.
Vancouver-based powerhouse Brunette the Label revealed it’s first major collab with global lifestyle brand Juicy Couture this fall, and trust us, it was a match made in fashion heaven. Brunette’s collab with Juicy plays on the Canadian brand’s beloved collection, which includes cozy crewneck sweaters, and features Juicy’s recognizable gothic font, in addition to a velour tracksuit, and zip-up set.
Swedish retailer H&M is known for its popular designer collabs — Alexander Wang, Balmain, and Moschino— and it’s safe to say its latest partnership is definitely its most glamourous. H&M’s collab with Paris-based, Italian couturier, Giambattista Valli, was first teased earlier this year in May at the amFAR Gala in Cannes and it’s available now. The collab includes a limited edition line of party dresses for ‘Valli girls’, and, in a first, tailoring for ‘Valli boys.’
This collab had the beauty world ready to head back to class this spring. Powerhouse duo, Sephora and Moschino’s Jeremy Scott, teamed up for a second time this year to create this limited-edition makeup collection inspired by all your back-to-school essentials. We’re talking about liquid highlighter that looks like a neon highlighter marker, makeup removers that look like erasers, makeup brushes that resemble pencils, nail polish comes in a white-out bottle, a colourful eyeshadow palette that looks like a Macbook, and much more.
Calling all Star Wars fans and fashionistas, you don’t need to venture to a galaxy far, far away to enjoy your favourite film. This fall, the legendary film teamed up with the iconic denim brand to create a futuristic collection that’s out of this world. This collab features lightsaber-inspired colours, new denim washes, and exclusive spaceship prints.
This collab is a much-needed blast from the past. Inspired by the ’70s, this is the actresses second collab with the designer, and this collection features stunning suit options, fitted A-line knit polo dresses, wrap dresses, pussy-bow tops, and luxe outerwear in rich fabrics like buttery leather, velvet, faux fur, and covetable prints like leopard, houndstooth, and more. Basically, if you’ve been wanting to add a few ’70s-inspired power pieces to your wardrobe, look no further than this popular collab.
If you’re in the market for a pair of sustainable kicks, Reformation has you covered. It’s been a busy year for the eco-conscious brand, which opened its first international store in Toronto this summer and then in the fall, Reformation revealed a killer collab with cult-favourite sneaker brand, New Balance. The collection is made with eco-friendly materials and is based off of both classic and modern dad-approved New Balance styles and come in five colour-ways, including pastel hues and pops of colour.
Hey now, hey now, this is what dreams are made of. Toronto-based beauty company Nudestix teamed up with Hilary Duff, one of our childhood icons to make the Daydreamer Palette, which features ethereal shades for the face, eyes, and lips. And while this isn’t a palette per se, this popular collab comes with everything you need to create a seamless, glowy, and natural look.
Ugh, as if! This year, K-Swiss celebrated the 25th anniversary of arguably the most fashion-forward film of all-time: Clueless. To celebrate this iconic milestone, the cult favourite sneaker brand released two limited-edition Clueless sneakers both referencing Cher Horowitz’s iconic yellow plaid ensemble: one pair in a subtle way and the other, not so subtly. And it’s safe to say, we can’t get enough of them.

H&M is known for its killer designer collaborations. We’ve seen the Swedish fast fashion retailer work with designers like Alexander Wang, Balmain, Moschino, and more in the past, working to make luxury fashion more affordable for the masses.
And this autumn’s designer collection is just as exciting as the ones we’ve seen before. The collaborator has been seen on celebrities all over the world, and come November, you can have it in your closet too.
You may remember that the collection was first announced earlier this year in May at the amFAR Gala in Cannes. Kendall Jenner was spotted wearing a hot pink tulle dress, while other celebrities like Chiara Ferragni, Ross Lynch, H.E.R., and Chriss Lee (Lu Yuchun) also wore pieces from the collection at the event.
Each of the items seen on the celebrities went on sale in May, but soon you’ll be able to get your hands on the entire collection.
And it’s anything but subtle! You can expect to see lots of textures — think tulle, beading, and more — patterns, and prints. For women, there are plenty of gala-worthy dresses, but there are also lots of everyday pieces that you can wear to the office or just hanging out. Men can expect to see plenty of statement pieces. And of course, there are a plethora of shoes and accessories.
Love high fashion but are you stuck with a fast fashion budget? Yeah, we’re with you. Every year famed affordable fashion retailer H&M collaborates with a high fashion brand.
Past collaborations have consisted of brands like Moschino, Alexander Wang, Erdem, and Comme Des Gar
