It’s time to grab your friends and family and head outside, and take in some of the amazing events happening in our city.

April showers, bring May flowers and in case you have a short memory April in Toronto wasn’t a great month, so we’re hoping the old adage stays true and May turns out to be beautiful.

As the weather begins to heat up, there are plenty of great activities you can do in the city. It’s time to grab your friends and family, head outside and take in some of the amazing events happening in our city.

Star Wars Day Toronto – May 4

May the Fourth be with you! If you’re Stars Wars fan like me, you probably already know May 4th is international Star Wars day. Join other fans as they celebrate one of the biggest movie franchise in pop-culture history! Fans will meet at the Hard Rock Cafe downtown where there will be Trivia Game show and a costume contest! Tickets are available through Eventbrite. Maybe you’ll get to see Darth Vader dance like these fans…

Cinco De Mayo – May 5

Cinco De Mayo (May 5th) has become a “holiday” observed by North American’s similarly to St.Patrick’s day. Barely anyone knows the reason for the celebration and it’s really just an excuse to party with your crew. If you work downtown but still want to enjoy the festivities why not check out Valdez. This Latina Street food spot if the perfect place to celebrate Mexican Culture. Valdez boast one of the better Patio’s in Toronto and really embraces the street party vibe! Toronto Green Market – May 8

Toronto’s Green rush has hit us at full speed. With dispensaries popping up in every neighbourhood and the liberals declaring legalization by spring/summer 2017, the weed movement is in full effect. Toronto’s Green Market promises to be the best market for all things pot-related (sorry, no bud). But you will be able to find crafted well by local artisans. Check out the event details here!

Food Nook Tours: A Guided Food Tour through Roncesvalles – May 8 to July 9

Looking for something different to do this mother’s day? Why not go on a lovely food tour with your mom in Roncesvalles. The tour’s start at 2:30 last around 1.5 – 2hrs and will carry through to July. Perfect afternoon activity that still leaves you plenty of time to just relax! The neighbour has traditionally been Polish but recent diversification has created one of Toronto’s top up and coming neighbourhood.

Market Fresh: Stand Up & Dance – May 13

Pizza Libs Pizza Making Competition – May 16

Think you have the skills to slang that doh? Get your crew together and join Pizza Libs Pizza Making Competition. This is the second competition this year, and with be hosted by Queen Margherita Pizza (QMP) and presented by Samuel Adams. Five teams of four will compete in an exclusive hands-on pizza making competition. Remember filling out mad libs as a Kid? Well in this competition each group will be presented with a Pizza Libs sheet where they will fill in the blanks with their selected toppings. You will work together to prepare your pizza and at the end of the night after drinks and apps the head chef of QMP will announce the winner. Get the full slice here.

Brewers Plate – May 18

Local chefs, local beer – a match made in heaven. Enjoy the unlimited (yes, you read that right) sumptuous offerings of these local rock star chefs, paired with Ontario beer! Now in its 9th year, Brewers plate has become one of the more fun and enjoyable charity events to attend. Proceeds go to WarChild Canada. For good beer and a good cause. Get event details here.

Operanation: Queen of the Night – May 19

If you love art and you love to party, Operanation is an event you don’t want to miss! Hosted at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts by the Canadian Opera Company, this one night event will feature live art installations, a massive chocolate display, raffles, free-flowing drinks and bites, musical performances (including a performance by Dragonette,) and much more. Did we mention you get to dress up? This year’s theme is Queen of the Night from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s The Magic Flute, so get your leather, lace and rich dark hues ready! Boozaar Vintage Night Market – May 31

Get your swerve on with some of Toronto’s thriftiest vintage collectors at the Gladstone Hotel. The Boozaar Vintage Night Market is just the right mix of, music, booze and of course clothes! Electric Island Opener – May 23

Aye, y’all heard about the good news? Electric Island is back for the first long weekend of summer. Rage on the island as the sun sets across the lake. Good tunes, drinks and the sunshine are never a bad thing. If you’ve never been, it’s definitely a good time. Music is pretty chill during the day with the party picking up as the sun sets and the moon rises. The first weekend will feature acts such as SVEN VTH, Jamie Jones, DJ Tennis, Job Jobse.

A Paintlounge Paint Party – May 20

Hmmm, Dance then paint or… Paint then dance… Maybe both at the same time! Either way, you’re bound to live, love and laugh at the Paintlounge’s Paint Party. Woofstock – May 28 to 29

Where My dogs at? Even if you’re not a dog/pet owner Woofstock is a howl of a good time! Woodstock has become the premier dog festivals, with over 150,000 dogs appearing and over 200 vendors. Dog owners (parents to some of you) come from all over Ontario to attend the event. If you’ve attended the last couple of years, why not volunteer. Golden Flamingo Revue, Paris Casino Edition – May 27

It’s showtime! The Golden Flamingo Revue, Paris Casino Edition will be a sultry show of classic European decadence. Enjoy Casino Games with Prizes, Showgirls, and their Electro Swing After Party!
