On a recent trip to our favourite discount shopping destination Dixie Outlet Mall, we spotted something new… What was once a dated and dingy Sears Outlet, is now identified as the mall’s newest anchor store, Treasure Hunt. What is Treasure Hunt? While we weren’t sure what to think of this store from the outside, we quickly learned after walking inside that it’s a gold mine for discount shoppers!
With four locations across Ontario, Treasure Hunt is a bargain mecca for literally EVERYTHING from office supplies to luxury rugs to lawn mowers. Yes, Treasure Hunt sells what appears to be everything and anything (all at a discount). Throughout this 70,000 sq. ft. store, you’ll find aisles of discounted small appliances, home decor, housewares, clothing, footwear, accessories, electronics, cosmetics, and toys. Seasonal departments feature displays of deeply discounted party supplies and decorative items priced well below what you’d spend at the dollar store.
Treasure Hunt’s inventory is accumulated by purchasing liquidation and overstock merchandise, out of season goods, customer returns and closeouts from brand name manufacturers, distributors, and retailers. Items are bought by Treasure Hunt and resold to customers at deep discounts – think 30-80% off the marked down price. Which brands does Treasure Hunt sell? We spotted a ton of merchandise from Target, Wal-Mart, FCUK, GAP, Old Navy, BCBG, UGG, Lucky Brand Jeans, L’Oreal, Sharpie and more!
When shopping at Treasure Hunt, be prepared to hunt, dig and rummage. This store does look like a bit of a disaster from afar with items sporadically placed, messy signage and merchandise overflowing in baskets, but we assure you that the price savings will be well worth your time!
We noted that the product offering and brand name selection of merchandise varies by location and the timing of your shopping trip. The best times to shop at Treasure Hunt are on Wednesday and Friday mornings when inventory is replenished and departments are reorganized. Be sure to double check Treasure Hunt Canada’s Facebook Page before your trip for a preview of new merchandise at each location and to confirm store hours which tend to change based on the season.
