Brand and companies are doing everything they can to support and lift up black-owned businesses and that includes black-owned restaurants. Uber Eats recently announced that it’s waiving delivery fees when you order from black-owned restaurants in the U.S and Canada.
this promotion will last until the end of the year and in addition, Uber will be offering discounted rides to black-owned businesses, too.
This news was announced to customers and riders in an email sent out by the company on June 4.
“We know this isn’t enough. It won’t be until we see true racial justice,” Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi wrote, “but we plan to work day in and day out to improve, learn, and grow as a company.”
Putting their money where their mouth is, it was also announced in the email that Uber made a $1 million donation to the Equal Justice Initiative and the Center For Policing Equity.
