We all know that Toronto is filled with many creators, designers, artists, and makers. In a city as big and creative as ours, it’s pretty obvious that we have our fair share of talented folks that keep us all looking unique and not blending in with the crowds. This is something I absolutely love about being from Toronto and it’s something I carry proudly. If you (like me), are always on the lookout for the next big collab or newest store to shop, then here’s one that you won’t want to sleep on.
Toronto-based fashion brand Ellie Mae Studios has just opened a retail space with decor brand COFO, and it’s located at Toronto’s shipping container market, Stackt.
If you’re unfamiliar with Ellie Mae Studios, all you need to do is do a quick search because you’ll soon find out lots about the brand. You’ll see photos of “it” girls like Gigi and Bella Hadid, Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau, Gwen Stefani, and Jen Atkins because they’ve all been seen in her whimsical designs.
The idea to open a retail space with COFO came about while smoking a joint. Hence why when telling me about it, founder Ellie Mae Waters referred to it as a “joint” venture.
“We both believe in Stackt and we came here without knowing each other. Then 6 months later we decided that we believed in this place so much that we came together in a bigger space because we feel that it showcases our products more,” says Ellie Mae to StyleDemocracy.
In addition to joining forces and opening a new store together, Ellie Mae Studios and COFO decided to collab on a cannabis accessories collection. And yes, it’s gorgeous.
Fans of Ellie Mae Studios might be surprised with the minimal and muted collection as the brand is known for its use of bright colours but Ellie Mae told me that “it was cool putting on a different creative hat.”
The partnership came about so organically, and it’s a match made in heaven because the both Ellie Mae Studios and COFO hold similar business morals like being made in Canada and being considerate to the environment.
In addition to being stunning, the new space is filled with Ellie Mae’s designs, the two brands’ chic cannabis accessories, and COFO’s modern and streamlined furniture. It’s important to note that everything you’ll see in the store is available for purchase including the furniture, racks, chairs, etc. and it’s made by COFO.
