Our friends at Retail-Insider are reporting that Montréal-based affordable furniture and accessories retailer Structube has set forth plans to expand their ‘megastore’ concept nationally. The decision comes off the successful launch of their first location in Montréal last year. Structube has already launched a second store in Hamilton, Ontario, and has plans to open more across the country.
The plan for expansion is simple. Structube has seen success with their 50,000 square foot locations which allow them to showcase their entire product line in one location, rather than their typical 3,000 to 10,00 square foot locations.
The ‘megastores” offers large customer pick-up areas as well as offers a better all-round customer experience.
Structube will continue to focus on their smaller store formats and believes that the ‘megastores’ will cater more to suburban dwellers, where the urban stores will focus on those living in higher density areas, and therefore will not carry as many large furniture pieces.
