We all love a good old fashioned sports event, right? Now don’t get us wrong because we’re all supportive of our home teams, but sometimes sportswear can be unflattering and, well, unfashionable. What about those of us who strive to look cute no matter where we go? In recent years, so many local and trendy brands have partnered with the sports clubs of Toronto and the result is some majorly cool collabs.

The next time you’re going to a big league game, show your support by rocking one of these 9 pieces and cheer the team on!

All the items are designed by local 10-year old aspiring artist Leeloominai Monleon, aka Leeloo, herself. Her parents took it upon themselves to print t-shirts as they loved Leeloo’s interpretation of classic logos. Her designs, including this Raptors t-shirt, have become a worldwide hit.

A Canadian TV Channel Will Be Broadcasting Blue Jays Games In Tagalog
In an effort to work on inclusivity and to promote diversity, OMNI Television will be bringing Toronto Blue Jays baseball to the Filipino Community.
Going forward, Sunday broadcasts of the Toronto Blue Jays game on OMNI Television will be presented in Tagalog!

In partnership with Sportsnet on August 5th, OMNI television has already broadcasted one game in the new format and featured well-known Filipino sportscaster Mara Aquino as host, Charles de Torres as the play-by-play announcer, and Mike Cruz as the colour commentator.

The new program is titled Toronto Blue Jays: Pinoy Edition and is another great effort by OMNI to bring Canadian culture to multilingual ethnic viewers. The decision to go forward with the new Pinoy Edition of the Blue Jays broadcasts comes from the successful Punjabi edition of Hockey Night in Canada.

There are seven more games scheduled to air in Tagalog:

  • Sun, Aug 19: Toronto @ New York Yankees (1 pm ET / 10 am PT)
  • Sun, Aug 26: Philadelphia Phillies @ Toronto (1 pm ET / 10 am PT)
  • Sun, Sep 2: Toronto @ Miami Marlins (1 pm ET / 10 am PT)
  • Sun, Sep 9: Cleveland Indians @ Toronto (1 pm ET / 10 am PT)

  • Sun, Sep 23: Tampa Bay Rays @ Toronto (1 pm ET / 10 am PT)
  • Sun, Sep 30: Toronto @ Tampa Bay Rays (3 pm ET / 12 pm PT)

If the broadcasts are successful you can expect these broadcasts to roll over into next year.

Nights like these don’t come around too often. One could say that April 25, 2018, might be the biggest night in Toronto sports history.

All five major sports leagues have a Toronto team playing tonight and four of the games are playoff matches!

The Toronto Raptors take on the Washington Wizards in Game 5 at the Air Canada Centre, The Toronto Maple Leafs head into the deciding game 7 against the Boston Bruins in Boston, The TFC enter into their CONCACAF Finals matchup against Chivas Guadalajara, and the Marlies try to wrap up their AHL playoff series as well.

Lastly, the Toronto Blue Jays are taking on rivals The Boston Red Sox today at Rogers Centre.

If you want to really get into the experience Maple Leafs Square is hosting a multi-sport viewing party for the most die-hard Toronto sports fans.   Maple Leaf Square will be the place to be as the viewing party will essentially be a massive tailgate party. Extra screens will be set up at Bremner Boulevard so that hockey fans can watch the Leafs as the Raptors game takes place on the Big Screen.

We’ve never seen a night like tomorrow in Toronto. Raps Game 5 | Leafs Game 7 | TFC CCL Final Maple Leaf Square will be massive – so our Tailgate will be even bigger. A 3-game viewing party for the world’s city. Gates open 5PM. #WeTheNorth | #TeamToronto

With Father’s Day coming up on the 18, it’s never too early to plan for the special day. After everything that your dad has done for you, it’s only fitting that they get a day off to do something that they love with the people they love. Celebrate Father’s Day and show your appreciation by taking your dad out to one of these weekend activities in Toronto.

Blue Jays Game

On June 18, join the Blue Jays in celebrating Father’s Day presented by Schneiders by taking the entire family out for a game. The 200 level WestJet Flight Deck will be transformed into the ultimate tribute to Dad where he can enjoy all of his favourite things. If you need more incentive, the first 20 000 fans to enter the Rogers Centre will receive a fashionable Blue Jays BBQ Apron, which trumps drab neckties any day. Get tickets here.

Paintball

What better way to strengthen the father-child bond than to shoot each other with pellets of paint at high velocity? This is perfect for the adventurous dads that love to have fun and enjoy an adrenaline rush. There are various places around Toronto like Defcon Paintball or Gladiator Paintball Arenas to go play a game, and you can even snag a great deal on Groupon.

Axe-throwing

Batting cages are so yesterday, and axe-throwing is the new favourite sport for young and old alike. It’s been growing steadily popular since the 2000s, and now there are numerous venues like BATL in Toronto dedicated to this activity. Take your father along to try something different and go sharpen your skills. It’s hard to deny the thrill of chucking axes around, after all.

Yorkville Exotic Car Show

If your Dad enjoys buying cars, driving cars, fixing cars, looking at cars, or all of the above, then taking him to the 7th Annual Yorkville Exotic Car Show is a no-brainer. On Father’s Day, walk along the red carpet on Bloor Street to get close with some of the best classic and exotic cars around the world. SuperCars, Ferrari, Porsche, you name it, they have it.

Go-kart

For thrill-seeking dads, being behind the wheels of a go-kart zipping around a track could be their idea of fun. Get your father to ditch the family van for a day and hook him up with a sweet new ride and watch up tear up the track. He’ll thank you for it. There are multiple places to go go-karting in Toronto like Grand Prix Kartways, 401 Mini Indy, and Go-Karts at Polson Pier.

VARAC Vintage Grand Prix

If Dad doesn’t fancy being the one to drive a go-kart, take him to watch pros do it at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on June 16-18. There will be multiple events, including the 2017 Diamond Jubilee Formula Junior World tour, and the FIA Masters Historic Formula 1. There will be many beautiful vintage cars for your viewing pleasure.

Wine and Spirit Festival

On June 16 and 17, there will be a national festival showcasing the world’s most renowned wine, beer, cider and spirit producers along with other culinary artists. Taking place on the scenic Sugar Beach, it’s the perfect place to stroll and soak in the festive atmosphere while sipping on some fine wine. Dad deserves the best, after all. Get full festival details here.

Fishing

For a more laid-back and relaxing activity, fishing is the way to go. Plus, it’s budget-friendly, you get to enjoy the great outdoors, and you can get a meal out of it. While waiting for the fish to bite, you can listen to Dad recount stories of the good ‘ol days.  Prime fishing locations include Humber Marshes, Tommy Thompson Park, and Ashbridges Bay Park.

Golf

There’s no better way to spend some quality time with Dad than putting 18 holes on a rolling green golf course. An afternoon of chatting and friendly banter while playing golf is a great way to foster that father-child bond. Don Valley is a beautiful golf course in the heart of the city worth checking out.

Beer Lovers’ Tours

The name says it all. For an educational and interactive trip packed with tastings, check out these three tours. They are all-inclusive and led by professionally certified beer guides with a knowledge of the history of the brewing heritage and a passion for beer that’ll match your Dad’s.

It’s that time of year again, time to welcome back our boys in blue! Subdue your anticipation for the home opener tomorrow night or show your support throughout the month by visiting Steam Whistle’s brand new “Bleeding Blue” exhibit.

The brewery has teamed up with artist Samara Shuter to showcase an awesome collection of abstract paintings featuring our iconic Toronto Blue Jays players. The series was first showcased at the Roger’s Centre’s Luxury Summit Lounge in support of the Jays Care foundation and her bold art pieces have also been seen at esteemed sites such as the Rockefeller Centre and the Bronx Museum of Arts

Shuter was quoted as saying. “I’ve always been attracted to iconic items that imply a powerful presence and intriguing persona. The architecture and line work in the design of suits and uniforms is complex, and an interesting place from which to explore different artistic modes and themes, such as power or societal pressure.”

Take a look at some of the Bleeding Blue art pieces below:

The Bleeding Blue collection by Samara Shuter will be available for viewing at the SteamWhistle Brewing Roundhouse gallery from now until April 30. So let’s get in the spirit and help cheer our boys on!
