I’m sure we all know that the right footwear can make or break your whole outfit. This is why investing in quality shoes seriously matters. Honestly, I think that one can never have enough shoes, and if the shoe fits, buy it in every colour. Elevate your casual jeans and tee with a pair of killer stilettos, or pair a tulle skirt with your favourite pair of sneakers. Plus, a great way to dip your toes into a new trend is by testing it out with a pair of shoes. Think of pairing  your biker shorts with cowboy boots for a western touch, or chunky sneakers with a flowy maxi dress for a sporty vibe. If you’re looking to spruce up your shoe wardrobe but not blow the budget, then you need to hit up these affordable shoe stores in Toronto.

Here are 5 affordable places to go shoe shopping in Toronto.

Fashionably Yours

If you’re a diamond girl on a cubic zirconia budget, it might be wise to consider consignment shopping. Toronto’s robust fashion communities influence the unique inventory of designer goods in every store, and Queen West’s Fashionably Yours has designer footwear priced at a serious steal. Mix and match your low meets high budget buys for a well-balanced outfit: think your favourite wash of Topshop jeans, crisp white H&M button down blouse, and a classic pair of Chanel flats. Consignment shopping is also a low-risk way of adding non-conventional or stand-out pieces without breaking the bank.

Plato’s Closet

Shoe shoppers rejoice! At Plato’s Closet, get ready to shop the best of the best. Find the perfect pair of pumps you’ve been searching for, or score brand new Nike runners for a price you’d have to see to believe. The best part is, there are multiple stores located within the GTA to scour racks and find the best inventory. You can also skip the thrift-store anxiety as the lovely staff and smaller store make it much more enjoyable to shop!

The Shoe Company

This one’s for the shoe-aholics. Longstanding The Shoe Company carries a great selection of sneakers, sandals, heels, and boots in lots of different colours. Not only that, but make sure you check out the stores clearance section in the back for even further reductions on shoes by brands we all know and love like Steve Madden, Birkenstock, Nike, and Cole Haan.

Call It Spring

A mall fave for a very good reason, Call It Spring is known for its trendy selections all while being wallet-friendly. Plus, did you know the brand is now fully vegan? Expect to shop chic and trendy heels, boots, flats, and summery sandals for a major steal — seriously, $60 will get you a pair of killer stilettos. In addition to footwear, Call It Spring also stocks cuter than cute accessories that are also affordable. If that’s not enough for you, the brand recently launched a collab with Disney to celebrate the new Lion King movie and it’s adorable!

Winners

Ask any fashion girl for her secret to affordable yet chic outfits and it’s probably Winners. One thing to know about shopping Winners is that location matters. This has helped me navigate how to locate the best products in every category, as every neighbourhood has it’s own special selection. If you’re looking for high-end shoes at a fraction of the cost, hit up Winners on Bloor. I once scored a killer pair of Balenciaga pumps for just $150 Also, I may add they were sitting right next to YSL stilettos. Find all kinds of shoes from a range of brands for discounted prices. You can thank me later.

Barely There Strappy Sandals

Mark our words: strappy sandals are going to have a major moment this season. They’re the perfect mix of femine and sexy, and they demand attention for all the right reasons. While there are tons of bold colour options available, we recommend trying a more neutral tone like black, nude, or white, as you’ll be able to wear them with just about everything in your wardrobe. We’ve currently got our hearts set on this stunning Stone Cold Fox and Bellissma collab

Heeled Flip-Flops

Tried and true, flip-flops are synonymous with summer. But now designers have upgraded this seasonal fave with a much-needed fashion-forward twist by adding a chic heel. This makes this beloved style perfect for wearing during the day and well into the night. Plus, it just so happens that Bevza has you covered with the perfect pair.

Wedges

shoe trends

Instagram/@staud.clothing

There’s absolutely no denying it, wedges are back and thankfully they’re a far cry from the chunky styles you most likely rocked in the early 2000s — let’s be honest, we’re all guilty of this look. The trick is finding the right pair that feels truly fresh and sleek, like this amazing pair by LA-based brand Staud

The Sporty Look

shoe trends

Instagram/@aldo_shoes

You probably didn’t think that velcro would be making a comeback, but we’re here to tell you it is, and it’s hotter than ever. Sporty and chunky sneakers have been having a major moment this year and now designers have created a summer-appropriate version for summer. Because it’s so adorable yet functional, we’re thrilled to say that the sporty sandal isn’t going anywhere any time soon. The best part is more wallet-friendly brands like Aldo have released variations, so you don’t have to break the bank to enjoy this trend.

Platforms

shoe trends

Instagram/@callitspring

Taking major notes from ’70s styles, sky-high platform sandals are back in style and we’re officially living for them. Think of them as your go-to shoe when you need an instant outfit refresher, because the bold look will instantly add a playful touch to whatever you’re wearing this summer. What we love about this style is that you can find platforms in neutral colours, or funky prints (like this amazing palm leaf printed pair from Call It Spring), with fun details like buckles, ankle straps, and even an espadrille heel.

The Naked Sandal

shoe trends

Instagram/@dolcevita

You’ve most likely seen this style grace the feet of fashion icon Kim Kardashian, and now it’s the perfect season for you to add it to your repertoire. The naked, clear look is totally in for summer, and you can find it in an impressive assortment of styles ranging from kitten heels and wedges, to slides and mules, so regardless of your taste and style, you’ll be able to find the perfect pair to match your taste (and budget). We’re living for this playful style from Dolce Vita, which has a fun metallic heel.
