The first Monday in May has come and gone, meaning another Met Gala has commenced. This year’s Met Gala celebrated the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” spotlighting 250 items from its permanent collection. Some of the pieces showcased are so delicate that they need to be laid down in order to be displayed, for preservation—hence the name “Sleeping Beauties.” The Met Gala dress code was “The Garden of Time“, perfectly complementing the exhibition theme.

Every Met Gala, we watch as celebrities and designers interpret the theme in their own unique way, some more loosely than others. This year, we saw a variety of vintage archive pieces as a nod to the “reawakening fashion” part of the Met theme, as well as an array of floral embellished designs to celebrate the “Garden” aspect of the Gala’s dress code.

A certain Bieber couple has appeared to give a Toronto-based vintage shop their stamp of approval.

That’s right. Over the past months, both Justin and Hailey Bieber have been spotted repping pieces from none other than Rebalance Vintage

The sustainable clothing brand and vintage showroom started out of a small studio apartment in 2020 by partners Maddie and Izzy, and has since grown to have a major cult following. Notably including several A-list celebs! Pieces from its curated vintage collection have been seen worn by Justin and Hailey Bieber, The Jonas Brothers, Kendall Jenner, Em Rata, and the list goes on.

The Bieber-duo has sported various pieces from Rebalance (which has new drops every week, by the way), the shop’s vintage hats seemingly being a staple fave they love to swap with each other. Most recently, Justin Bieber wearing Hailey’s Vintage Nike Hat in his post on Instagram.

The first Monday in May just passed, AKA the Met Gala. This year’s Met Gala theme was honouring the legacy of the late Fashion Designer and Creative Director, Karl Lagerfeld, with the title “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty”. The gala is hosted by Vogue, at none other than the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, as a fundraiser for the museum as well as to celebrate the opening of its annual fashion exhibition. Every year, A-listers walk the red carpet and up the Met steps dressed to the nines in accordance with the theme (albeit, sometimes very loosely).

Let’s take a look at some of the fashion that graced the Met Gala steps this year:

And as entertaining as it is watching the recipients receive their awards, we can’t help but focus our attention and admire all of the looks that graced our screens! There were so many amazing ensembles that it was hard to narrow down our favourite top 10, yet somehow we managed.

Let’s take a moment to admire some of our favourite looks from last night’s Golden Globes!

Jenna Ortega

Wednesday star Jenna Ortega wore a gorgeous dress by Gucci. The silhouette is stunning, draped perfectly on her – plus it’s nice to see her wearing some colour!

Billy Porter

Jessica Chastain wore a sparkle-filled Oscar de la Renta gown almost reminiscent of a spider web, in the chicest way possible.

Rihanna

Rihanna looked absolutely stunning at the awards last night; we would expect nothing less. She wore a custom Schiaparelli gown which included a voluptuous velvet cape and gloves.

Tyler James Williams

The men were absolutely killing it last night, too! Tyler James Williams sported a stylized AMIRI suit featuring a tie-dye-esque print and a cropped blazer coat.

Anya Taylor Joy

Anya Taylor Joy has a knack for making absolutely everything she puts on look ethereal, and last night’s look was no exception. She wore a 2-piece yellow set by Dior and looked effortlessly elegant.

Nicole Byer

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Christian Siriano (@csiriano)

Sparkles and voluminous details seemed to be a recurring theme last night, and this Christian Siriano gown worn by Nicole Byer is serving both! The matches opera gloves were the perfect finishing touch.

Percy Hynes White

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Percy Hynes White Brasil (@phw_brasil)

Percy Hynes White strayed away from the simple classic suit and wore a Saint Laurent suit with a little more interest! The suit featured a caped blazer and a semi-sheer knit underneath. The overall styling of this look made it stand apart from the rest for us!

Ana de Armas

A post shared by BLONDE Netflix (@blondethefilm)

This studded Louis Vuitton look worn by Ana de Armas is everything! Everything about this look is perfection in our opinion. From the dramatic square neckline to the stud panel details, to the pleats in the skirt portion of the dress *chefs kiss*.

Selena Gomez

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Vogue Runway (@voguerunway)

Of course, we can’t leave out Selena Gomez’s look! She wore a deep purple Valentino Haute Couture design featuring a velvet gown and dramatic drop-puff sleeves which appeared to have their very own trains!

There are tons of celebrity fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands popping up on the market! While some seem to be more or less just putting a well-known name to a brand, others have been created with passion and determination – and these brands naturally tend to stand out against the rest. In terms of celebrity fashion brands, some of them have major celeb presence, and some you may not even know are owned by celebrities as they remain to stay behind-the-scenes. But regardless, who better to shop from than the ones who seem to have it all?

Keep reading to check out some of the best celeb-owned fashion brands!

SKIMS

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by SKIMS (@skims)

If you know anything about SKIMS you know it was co-founded by Kim Kardashian, as she definitely doesn’t hide behind the scenes, like some other celebrity-owned fashion brands. She can constantly be spotted within SKIMS campaigns and all throughout its e-commerce website! Although the brand started out as shapewear, it also has underwear and loungewear, too. Don’t let the name shapewear fool you though! People seem to love styling its pieces as clothing, not just hidden underneath other garments. For example, its Sculpting Thong Bodysuit simply paired with some jeans!

Fabletics

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Fabletics (@fabletics)

We know and love Fabletics for its stylish yet performance-driven athleticwear, but did you know that a founder of the brand is none other than Kate Hudson? She co-founded the brand alongside two others – Adam Goldenberg and Don Ressler. Fabletics is known for having an extensive line of men’s and women’s activewear at an affordable price point! It even has a membership service for those who can’t get enough and want to reap the benefits! Check out its Boost ⅞ Legging from its Best Sellers!

OVO

OVO, October’s Very Own is co-owned by none other than Toronto’s very own, Drake! Which, let’s be real. You probably already knew. OVO was established in 2008 and continues to grow and evolve but remains to keep its athletic streetwear vibe. Check out its women’s selection to shop its more feminine of silhouettes!

Draper James

A post shared by Draper James (@draperjames)

For all you Legally Blonde turned Reese Witherspoon fans, there’s Draper James! Although the aesthetic of this brand strays away from Elle Woods’ all-pink aesthetic, you can still expect quite the feminine flare while shopping at Draper James. Reese Witherspoon started the brand to honour her southern heritage and named it after her grandparents. We love a brand with a story! Its Deana Smocked Dress is the definition of Southern-Chic!

Good American

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by GOOD AMERICAN (@goodamerican)

You can say whatever you want about the Kardashians, but you must admit they are pretty good at business. Good American, being a part of Khloe Kardashian’s success, gained major popularity for its amazing size-inclusive denim, carrying sizes 00-24 in jeans. It has since grown, carrying a wide selection of clothing and even shoes. Our favourite part about shopping the brand? The showcasing of three different-sized models on every piece, making it easier to envision what a specific piece might look like on your specific body type!

The Row

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by The Row (@therow)

Quietly owned by icons Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen is the luxury fashion brand The Row. Although Mary-Kate and Ashley prefer to stay out of the spotlight, that has no way hindered the success of The Row! Founded in 2006, the brand focuses on impeccable tailoring and luxurious fabrics. You can expect to find timeless, elevated basics as well as stunning handbags and shoes! You may recognize its iconic Banana Bag! As much as we love this brand’s designs, in terms of luxury pricing, The Row is definitely up there, but its following doesn’t seem to mind!

Savage X Fenty

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by SAVAGE X FENTY BY RIHANNA (@savagexfenty)

Where lingerie and fashion meet, there’s Savage X Fenty by Rihanna. The brand has everything from casual everyday undergarments to more sensual pieces. It now even offers a selection of loungewear! The brand aims to offer fashion-forward pieces at an accessible price range designed for every body type. We’re obsessed with its Hooded Onesie!

S by Serena

This year’s September cover for Vogue was tennis star celeb, Serena Williams is behind this fashion brand! We all know her for her pro tennis skills, but did you know she’s a fashion designer, too? If you thought her fashion brand would be focused on athleticwear, you would be wrong! Her brand S by Serena features apparel designed to be sophisticated, sexy, and stylish, empowering you to look and feel your absolute best! You can expect to find an array of fitted dresses with flattering silhouettes while shopping the brand like its stunning Corey Dress

Iconic celeb, Lizzo, just announced that she’s officially dropping a shapewear line, and we already have a feeling it’s going to go viral.

Last week, the rapper-singer-songwriter, posted on her Instagram account to let her followers (and the internet) know that she’s launching her own shapewear.

And of course, everyone went wild.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Lizzo (@lizzobeeating)

She wrote in the caption, “This is a dream 5 years in the making…. Introducing @YITTY: Shapewear you can wear Underwear, Overwear, Anywhere. For Every Damn Body. 6X to XS…”

A lot of people took to the comments to note that 6X was written before XS, which typically it’s the other way around. Naturally, the queen herself replied on Tiktok, stating that this is no coincidence, meaning that this line was created with inclusivity at the forefront.

In another post, Lizzo speaks, “This is *not* an invitation to change who you are… this is an opportunity to BE who you are on your terms. I don’t know about y’all— but I’m sick of people telling me how I’m supposed to look and feel about my body.”

It’s actually pretty cool to see a major name in pop culture making moves to create inclusive pieces in the fashion industry.

A post shared by YITTY (@yitty)

Yitty is partnered up with Fabletics and will launch on Tuesday, April 12 at 8 am PST.

You can currently enter your email and phone number so that you’re notified ASAP.

We can’t wait to take a look at the entire Lizzo drop, and it’ll be interesting to see how this compares to the very popular, fellow celeb shapewear brand, SKIMS, by Kim Kardashian!
