Torontonians are getting a new addition to the city! The Davisville Community and Aquatic Centre will be making its way to Toronto in the near future.
Although it’s not projected to be fully complete by Fall 2024, it’s definitely something to look forward to. Construction is set to start this Fall, once the Davisville Public School is complete.
One addition to note is that there will be the introduction of gender-neutral washrooms and change rooms, where all individuals must keep clothing on in shared spots as well as shower with swimsuits.
Plus, the Toronto community and aquatic centre will have an active roof which plans to have spots for a running track and a multi-purpose lawn that’ll create an elevated public park feel for visitors.

Start the car!! Known for being closed on Sundays is Toronto’s prized gem, St. Lawrence Market. It’s been announced today that the world renowned market and purveyor of quality ingredients will be open on Sundays thanks to a new pilot program.
City Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam said in a statement, “The St. Lawrence Market is one of the most beloved destinations for Torontonians and visitors, offering specialty items alongside competitively priced fresh and prepared food products with unmatched customer service.”
This is amazing news for weekend visitors to Toronto, but also locals who only have time to shop the market on the weekends.
While this news is super exciting, the market will still remain closed on Monday although the hours on the other days of the week will shift.
St. Lawrence Market will operate under the hours from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday to Friday, and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“I want to thank City staff and the many businesses who make the St. Lawrence Market such a special place for moving forward with this exciting pilot. The new Hours of Operation Pilot Project modernizes the Market’s operations and ensures that more people have the opportunity to experience this amazing, historic Toronto destination.”

The Bentway Skate Trail will also officially open for the season, from June 30th until August 12th and you can also expect lots of fun events going on all summer long.
Things are all kicking off this weekend, with the reveal of a “new art installation/skatepark featuring Semblance, skateable sculptures conceived and constructed by Build for Bokma which create a 3D terrain for boarders to ride on, as well as a site-specific art installation by artist and skateboarder Pascal Paquette.”

While Toronto is, undeniably, one of the safest and most comfortable cities to live in, when it comes to saving money, the struggle is real.
According to proprietary data and consulting industry experts in their field, this year Torontonians need to make at least $39,000 before tax (or $33,440 after tax) to make ends meet in Toronto, which is $400 a month more than in 2017.
LowestRates.ca recently broke down the average cost of living for 20-something-year-olds in the city. Categorizing payments by housing, phone and internet, transportation, groceries, and health and fitness, they considered a number of factors and found an average price for each. Here’s what they came up with:
Among other categories, housing has seen the biggest increase since the past year. In 2017 the median cost of an average unit in Toronto a single person would have to pay stood at $1,334.75. This year, the rental rate has gone up by more than $300. The average total spent per month is now $2,740, while last year it was $2,350.
Even though provincial and federal officials are doing their best to make Toronto more affordable, the cost of living in the city is still rising. And while there’s nothing we can do to combat rising prices, there are still spendings that we can control. If you want to learn how to save more money this year, check out some of the articles below.
