Get ready for total nostalgia to take over from the new Disney and OVO partnership. Though it may seem like a random mash-up, between the great quality of OVO and adorable Disney cartoons, it may be one of our fave collabs yet.

The collection will drop on February 25, so mark your calendars to ensure you can get your hands on some items.

We’re quite confident that these will become sought-after collector’s items!

OVO actually shared pictures on its Instagram account this week as a teaser for the launch.

If you’re a fan of Mickey Mouse, then you’re in luck! You can definitely expect the iconic mouse to make an appearance, along with other Disney characters.

Pricing hasn’t been released for the collab, but past partnerships with OVO definitely haven’t been super cheap. The Jurassic Park Toronto Raptors Capsule collection had apparel starting at $300.

If you haven’t been to a Disney Store yet to grab some merch, you better head over soon! Ten more stores will shut down operations by the end of summer.

Although it may be sad to say goodbye to the beloved Disney Store, this does mean that there will be a major liquidation sale.

Retail Insider Reported about the Disney Stores saying, “Liquidation sales in the next 10 locations confirmed to close will start on Monday, July 26 according to a source with Disney who was not authorized to speak on the record. The 10 stores are expected to shut permanently either on August 6 or thereabouts.”

If you’re looking to check out the liquidation sales, some stores that will be offering a chance to shop are Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto, CF Lime Ridge Mall in Hamilton, and Upper Canada Mall in Newmarket.

Discounts and prices have yet to be released, but you can definitely expect some great savings!

These closures are all due to the shift in customer’s shopping behaviours and wanting to purchase items online. Unfortunately, the Disney Store won’t be offering a Canadian e-commerce store, so if you do want to continue browsing the items, you will have to do so in American dollars.

Disney collaborations with fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands have been popping up for as long as I can remember. As a fan of all things Disney, it’s so fun to be able to see the most magical place on Earth come to life in various products. It’s also super fun to see collaborations between brands that you would never expect to work together. Now, you can rock the iconic brand wherever you go with the various collaborations they have done. From high fashion designers to cool and casual brands, you can find Mickey and his friends in all different types of fashion and lifestyle.

Here are the best Disney collaborations!

Givenchy

Disney Collaboration Givenchy
Givenchy

In 2013, Givenchy teamed up with Disney to use Bambi as a motif across its fall 2013 collection. Whether it was a cozy sweatshirt or a cute tote bag, the image of Bambi became a staple in the fashion industry. Celebrities like Elle Fanning, Lily Collins, and Sophia Bush quickly flocked to this design and wore it on the street and even to some red carpet events. If you have the money to spend, you can actually still purchase some pieces from this collection, including the iconic Bambi printed t-shirt for $790.

Pandora

You can bring the magic of Disney to your jewelry with Pandora. The jewelry brand has become a staple in most people’s collections, as they create cute rings, bracelets and necklaces that are perfect for everyday wear. Their collaboration with Disney brings charms that you can add to your bracelet. Whether you are looking for a cute critter like Stitch, a beautiful princess like Belle, or just a cute filler charm, the Disney x Pandora collection has a wide variety of charms available. This collection is still available today, and they are constantly adding new charms to the range.

Sugarfina

Disney Collaboration Sugarfina

Possibly the yummiest collaboration on this list, Disney and candy boutique Sugarfina released a collection to celebrate Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday back in 2018. This collaboration was a must-try for any Disney lover with a sweet tooth. With chocolate bars decorated in Mickey-shaped sprinkles, marshmallows that looked like his gloves, and gummy bear-shaped Mickey’s, how could you resist? The collection also came in cool packaging that definitely serves as memorabilia for anyone lucky enough to get their hands on it. We can only hope that these two work together again to give us more of these yummy treats.

ALDO

Disney x ALDO is the gift that keeps on giving. These two brands have partnered together numerous times, and it somehow keeps getting better each time! Another collection is on the way, with the second drop of Cinderella-inspired shoes and accessories coming soon.

Kate Spade

For a brand that’s as sweet and girly as Kate Spade, it’s a no brainer that it would link up with the queen of Disney, Minnie Mouse herself. With accessories like purses, backpacks, and rings, this collaboration is the perfect addition to any outfit for the girly girl in your life. Plus, you can still shop out the adorable collection today.

UNIQLO

Disney and UNIQLO partnered to create the “Magic For All” collection. The goal of this collab was to spread the dreams and delights of Disney all over the world through clothing. With cool graphic t-shirts for kids, women, and men, there’s something for the entire family. The collection includes characters like Mickey and his friends, Marvel superheroes, and Star Wars characters.

adidas

Instagram/@lilo_vieira

adidas has added a bit of Disney magic to its signature sneakers with this magical collaboration. Whether your little one is looking for a pair of shoes that have their favourite character on them, like Elsa or Buzz Lightyear, or you’re a Disney lover yourself, you will find a cool pair of kicks from this collaboration. The classic Stan Smith and Superstar models are reimagined with a little help from Mickey Mouse. There are also a couple of cool Star Wars-themed shirts and sweatshirts available. Dress up the whole family in this collection!

Bésame

Instagram/@ladyhocuspocus

Beauty brand Bésame hopped on the Disney train when it released a Sleeping Beauty collab to celebrate the 60 year anniversary of the film’s release and the collection was simply incredible. Disney invited the founder of Bésame to Disney Studios to study the archives of the film in order to ensure that every product in the collection matched the original colours seen in the movie. Unfortunately, this collection is out of stock but hopefully these two companies team up again to celebrate another princess anniversary.

Gucci

Instagram/@designer.mens

Disney made a return to the designer world with a collaboration with Gucci. Mickey Mouse was found all across the iconic Gucci print on sweatshirts, tops, bags and shoes to celebrate Chinese New Year. If this collection is within your price range, it is definitely something that you need to check out before it is sold out, because it is so totally adorable. One of my favourite pieces is the Marmont bag… a girl can dream, right?

Barbie

Instagram/@mattel

Whether your little one wants to play with it, or you want to add it to a collectible collection, the Barbie x Star Wars Disney collab is one that you have to check out. This collaboration is one that is ongoing, as Barbie continues to release various characters for pre-order. While some of the characters are sold out, there are still tons of beloved characters (both new and old) that you can get your hands on now!

Ciaté London

Edna, from Disney and Pixar’s The Incredibles, has become synonymous for her work with the world’s most powerful “Supers.” Now, for the first time ever, Edna’s signature flair for fashion has been channeled into a capsule collection of bold beauty. You can grab your very own collection (retails from $19 to $39) which includes a multi-tasking face and cheek palette, a soft-matte lip powder enriched with Ciaté’s exclusive Triple-R Complex© (which rejuvenates the lips), and a duo of ultra-creamy long-lasting gel liner pencils.

Zara

If you’re Disney’s number one fan, then check out the collaboration with Zara for a variety of graphic tees. So, whether you love Mickey, Goofy, Bambi, Dumbo, Simba, and even baby Yoda, you’re sure to find your fave new t-shirt.

Petunia Pickle Bottom

Bed Bath & Beyond

Petunia Pickle Bottom has been around for over 20 years. Focusing on the evolving needs of parents, the brand aims to offer lovely pieces to assist them in their everyday lives. Versatile and oh-so-chic, this Belt Bag from Petunia Pickle Bottom makes for an excellent clutch as you care for your little one. After announcing that Disney is closing 60 locations across North America back in March, the plans have changed again. Allegedly, Disney is now closing all of its stores in Canada, rather than leaving some open, which was originally planned.

Two Canadian spots already closed last month, one of them being in the Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga.

Instagram/@elizabetpustovit

According to a source that spoke to Retail Insider, store staff at Disney locations have yet to be notified of the closures. Although no date has been given, apparently all of the locations will close by the end of the summer this year.

Disney’s decision to close its stores in Canada is due to challenges resulting from the pandemic. Customer shopping behaviors have changed, so Disney has re-evaluated and decided to shift to online channels.

The focus on online shopping for Disney does come as a surprise since the company still hasn’t launched its Canadian e-commerce site, even though it promised to do so.

It also hasn’t secured a warehouse spot to fulfill product orders.

Final statements haven’t been released just yet, so we’ll have to wait for more details, but we can definitely expect major changes in retail for Disney.

You may want to check out your closest Disney store sometime soon! Disney has announced that it will be closing at least 60 stores across North America this year. The decision has been made to focus more on the eCommerce side of the business rather than storefronts.

Although this may seem like a whole lot, the store closures only amount to around 35% of all of the shops between Canada and the USA.

When the magical store first arrived in the late 1980s, Canada hosted almost 400 locations across the country!

Instagram/@behindisneyes

One of the Canadian stores that is for sure closing is in Mississauga in the Square One Shopping Centre.

This location has been operating in the same spot since 1993, and is unfortunately set to close on or before March 23.

Stephanie Young, president of Consumer Products Games and Publishing, is optimistic about the future saying in a press release, “Over the past few years, we’ve been focused on meeting consumers where they are already spending their time, such as the expansion of Disney store shop-in-shops around the world. We now plan to create a more flexible, interconnected eCommerce experience that gives consumers easy access to unique, high-quality products across all our franchises.”

It’s becoming more and more crucial to abide by public health officials during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Wearing face coverings or masks is increasingly important but what’s more important is that we don’t buy medical-grade face masks that should be worn by healthcare workers. To help, companies like Roots and many more have been manufacturing reusable masks. Another company joining in and creating face masks is Disney and now you can get them with your favourite characters on them to keep the magic alive!

These face masks feature not only Disney characters, but Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars, too and they can be preordered on the Disney website.

“We realize this is a challenging time for families and wearing any type of mask can be daunting,” says Edward Park, senior vice president, Disney store and shopDisney. “Our hope is that Disney’s cloth face masks featuring some of our most beloved characters will provide comfort to the families, fans and communities that are so important to us.”

To help even more, Disney is donating one million cloth face masks for children and families who live in underserved and vulnerable communities across the U.S.

But that’s not all! Disney will donate the proceeds of all masks sold, up to $1 million to MedShare, the company that’s distributing the donated masks.

“Disney’s donations will make a tremendous impact in the communities we serve,” says Charles Redding, CEO and president of MedShare. “Their contribution of one million Disney cloth face masks will be provided to families in underserved communities and organizations working to limit the spread of COVID-19, while their monetary donation will be used to support the medical community’s ongoing efforts to provide lifesaving care to those who need it most.”

The cloth face masks come in three sizes and are available for $19.99 USD for a four-pack, and feature characters like Mickey, Minnie, Elsa, Woody, Buzz, Baby Yoda, and many more.

According to Hypebeast, Disney’s CEO Bob Iger confirmed that Star Wars Land will open in both Disney World and Disneyland in 2019.  The project was first announced in 2015, and is expected to be over 14 acres and will be created based on a new planet that Star Wars fans have yet to see.  Reports have said that construction is currently underway and Star Wars Land is expected to open by July 14 2019.
