After almost 30 years of business, tech and electronics discount retailer Factory Direct (FactoryDirect.ca) is closing all 14 of its locations.
Factory Direct is a one-stop-shop providing discounted computers, phones, TVs, appliances, and even some home and beauty products.
A closing liquidation sale has begun, with over $10 million of inventory to clear out. The sale will include a huge selection of brands such as Apple, Samsung, LG, Cuisinart, and so many more.
“This is a unique opportunity for customers to get the top branded products at liquidation prices. Due to the most recent economic conditions, it’s becoming more apparent that businesses are having a difficult time managing operations. FactoryDirect.ca has been a consistent source of incredible deals for a long time and it is such a shame to see this almost 30 year old, Canadian Owned discount retailer with hundreds of employees have to close it’s doors forever” shared Alex Hennick, President of A.D. Hennick & Associates in a press release.

As we all know, Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack are closing in Canada. While we have until June to say our last goodbyes to Nordstrom, all of Nordstrom Rack’s Canadian stores officially closed their doors on Sunday.
Canada was home to 6 Nordstrom stores and 7 Nordstrom Rack stores. Now that the Nordstrom Rack stores have closed, we’re left with just the remaining 6 Nordstrom locations left – and not for long.
Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack stores were short-lived in Canada, having opened the first Canadian Nordstrom Rack location in Toronto in just 2018, and closing in 2023.

If you haven’t been to a Disney Store yet to grab some merch, you better head over soon! Ten more stores will shut down operations by the end of summer.
There will be only three locations that will stay open in the GTA until further notice.
Although it may be sad to say goodbye to the beloved Disney Store, this does mean that there will be a major liquidation sale.
If you’re looking to check out the liquidation sales, some stores that will be offering a chance to shop are Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto, CF Lime Ridge Mall in Hamilton, and Upper Canada Mall in Newmarket.
These closures are all due to the shift in customer’s shopping behaviours and wanting to purchase items online. Unfortunately, the Disney Store won’t be offering a Canadian e-commerce store, so if you do want to continue browsing the items, you will have to do so in American dollars.

We’re sad to be saying farewell to Bowring Brothers and the Bombay Company, along with all their fantastic sales. Apparently, the home decor chains in Canada will be moving into liquidation mode after their Brampton-based parent company filed for creditor protection.
Blogto reported, “Fluid Brands Inc., owned by GTA retail mogul Fred Benitah, is more than $50 million in debt, according to legal filings.”
As of right now, both the Bombay & Bowring website and social channels have been removed until further notice. There are a ton of expected closures — which is why there has been such an influx of warehouse sales happening recently.
Currently, there are 43 Bombay stores in Canada which we don’t expect to stay open long. We will continue to keep you updated.

After Sears Canada announced this fall that they were liquidating all their operations across the country for good, we were heartbroken to hear that thousands of employees lost their jobs.
Today, on the ruins of what once was one of the most successful retail giants in American history, a group of 25 Canadian companies have come together to open a 150,000-square-foot, two-story mega liquidation centre in Markham to sell Sears inventory direct to the public.
The new outlet will not only help sell thousands of items of orphaned Sears inventory but also will hire many ex-Sears employees to help run the outlet, making it a win-win solution that serves both parts.
“Aside from the tremendous pain to employees, pensioners and vendors who have lost millions of dollars as a result of Sears’ bankruptcy, customers have lost a reliable source of high-quality merchandise and many vendors lost their largest customer,” said Ari Starr, the founder of Bobby’s Liquidation Outlet and one of Sears’ former suppliers.
Bobby’s Liquidation Outlet offers clothing, accessories, leather goods and jewelry to toys, bath, bedding, kitchenware and home decor items, with the exception of appliances at deeply discounted prices. Visitors can also find such brands as Armani, Columbia Sportswear, Dolce & Gabbana (D&G), Gucci, Cavalli, Moschino and Dsquared – at bargain prices.
According to the official news-release, sample bargain prices at Bobby’s Liquidation Outlet include $9.99 for Sears’ Jessica Brand dresses, $59 for Columbia Sportswear winter jackets, $49 for designer jeans from D&G, Gucci, Dsquared, 40-50 percent off socks and undergarments, $14.99 for a four-piece set of twin or queen sheet sets ($15.99 for king sets), and much more.
The outlet located at Steeles Avenue and Highway 404 at 2900 Steeles Avenue will also surprise vintage lovers with a 3,500-square-foot Antique & Vintage Market, featuring vintage furniture, lamps, appliances and jewelry at below market prices.
Good news is that by purchasing any item at the outlet sale you will also support people with special needs, as a portion of the profit will go to organizations supporting people with disabilities, including Thornhill-based DANI, Yachad and Reena.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you have heard that Sears Canada has filed for bankruptcy and announced that they planned on liquidating their stores. A video appeared on youtube showing what the liquidation process was like and let us tell you it looks out of control.
The overall theme of the video is that if you were planning on checking out Sears Liquidation sale, especially at Fairview Mall, don’t waste your time. Items have been picked over and we haven’t seen madness like this almost ever. The store looks like it has been looted not liquidated.
In the words of low-brow television – You’ve gotta see this.
So long HMV!
If you haven’t heard, this entertainment retailer will be permanently closing its doors at the end of April. When HMV announced that they would be closing all 128 stores across Canada, we kept our eyes peeled for the liquidation sale that would soon follow.
We recently checked out the HMV location at Dufferin Mall in Toronto (closing this week,) to find it swarmed with shoppers and savings!
Head over to any HMV location ASAP to shop their liquidation prices on everything from Blu-Ray box sets to apparel to novelty items – all priced at a minimum of 60% off!
Attention business owners – many HMV locations are even selling their store fixtures. Hurry into an HMV location to purchase items like shelves, chairs and sign holders for a steal! However, keep in mind that 70 HMV locations are being transformed into Sunrise Records shops, so not all locations will be selling out their fixtures.
Note: If you have an old HMV gift card, they are no longer accepted as a form of payment at remaining HMV locations. So you may just want to hang onto it as a piece of nostalgia.
Go get your shop on at HMV’s liquidation sale before they’re all closed – reminder: all sales are final. Happy Saving!

While HMV has been on the ropes for years, it wasn’t really a surprise to hear that the once mega-retailer has been forced to close its doors and cease operations as of April 30th, 2017.
If you’re looking to get your hands on some old school CD’s and your favourite Avengers Movie poster you should head over to HMV now because they are liquidating everything! While the starting liquidation prices aren’t crazy (30% Off Everything) it’s still a great opportunity to score some of your favourite Blu-Rays and other items you probably don’t really need.
Happy Shopping!
