At midnight on NYE, residents and visitors to Toronto are invited to countdown to the New Year and witness a free 10-minute fireworks show, synchronized to music, visible from anywhere with a view of the city’s inner harbour and also live-streamed online. NYE 2024 Celebrations at Nathan Phillips Square
Location: Nathan Phillips Square
Every year, The City of Toronto hosts a night of New Year’s celebrations at Nathan Phillips Square! The evening includes a lineup of live music, DJs, fireworks, and more beginning at 9PM. Admission is free, and it’s the perfect NYE event that the whole family can enjoy!
Taylor Swift NYE Party At The Opera House
Location: The Opera House: 735 Queen Street East
What better way to ring in 2024 than with the Midnights queen? Well – with her music at least. Swifties, head over to The Opera House on NYE to hear your favourite Taylor Swift hits, take photo booth pictures with your friends, enter giveaways, and more! The new year is quickly approaching, which means New Year’s Eve events are around the corner! New Year’s Eve fashion is super fun with all of the sequins, sparkles, and shimmer typically involved. However, a lot of the clothing that generally classifies as appropriate for New Year’s Eve is typically difficult to re-wear. Which is 1. Not very sustainable and 2. Kind of a waste of money. I’m not saying don’t shop for a new shimmer-filled sparkly outfit to ring in the new year, but I will say before you go out to the mall or shop the look online, hit up a few thrift shops first to see what’s already out there! That way you’ll have a completely unique NYE look that won’t break the bank.
I challenged myself to visit my local thrift on a mission to find clothing that would make perfect New Year’s Eve outfits. Here’s how it went!
During the trip to my local Value Village thrifting for New Year’s Eve clothing, I basically had my eyes peeled for anything that sparkled. I came across this cute sparkly black tank with a cowl neck detail. I also found a pair of black leather pants which paired perfectly with the tank! These pieces paired with some platform heels and a clutch with some sparkle would be perfect for NYE.
I also found this purple shimmery top that could be paired with pretty much any bottoms to make a simple yet effective New Year’s Eve look.
Next, I found this colourful sequin dress that would be sure to turn heads at any NYE event! I thought it paired perfectly with a black blazer I found that had some beading details throughout it – making it totally NYE-approved.
When I came across this gradient sequin dress on the rack, I was super excited to pull it out and take a look, and I was not disappointed! The gradient reminds me of a night sky in a way, so it feels super fitting for NYE. I think it would be great styled with some sheer black tights, black heels, and maybe even an oversized blazer.
I think this silver dress by BCBG Max Azria would be great for a New Year’s Eve house party, possibly even dressed down with a knit cardigan thrown on top to serve cozy-glam vibes. Or simply worn as-is for a general glam look.
This was probably my favourite find of the entire visit. It feels like a modern style NYE dress and looks effortlessly chic with its boxy silhouette. I love the mix of sequin and sheer black fabric too, it just feels luxe. I think it would be perfect for absolutely any NYE event!
The last couple of pieces I found were a leather black skirt with some hardware details, which add a bit of grunge, and another sparkly tank! One thing I learned on this thrift trip is that there is no shortage of sparkly tank tops at the thrift. I picture the tank tucked into the skirt and paired with some knee-high boots and a moto jacket to give a more “cool-girl” NYE vibe.

Oretta
For one night only, Oretta will transform into a Venice Carnival and will offer two, four-course dinner seatings as well as a countdown celebration. The first seating will be at 5:00 p.m. for $55 and will be served with prosecco, while the second seating will be at 8:30 p.m. and is available for $95, which includes late night snacks and a champagne toast at midnight. Skipping dinner or eating at home? No problem! The Oretta NYE celebration only tickets starting at 10:00 p.m. are available for $45 and includes carnival dancers, complementary masquerade masks, and more.
La Société
Say it ain’t so! New Years Eve will be the last evening ever to dine at La Société, Yorkville’s Parisian style bistro. Make a reservation to celebrate the restaurants last night of service and enjoy a $100 prix fixe menu starting at 7:30 p.m., along with a DJ and complimentary sparkling wine at midnight.
STK
Instead of the standard prix fixe menu offered at most high end restaurants, STK is offering diners a selection from its New Year’s a la carte menu. Options include the delectable Wagyu beef carpaccio, STK’s famous beef board, and much more.
Montecito
Montecito’s Palm lounge will offer half-price champagne all night long as well as a live music performance that starts at 8:00 p.m. While there won’t be a prix fixe option but you can enjoy all of your favourite signature dishes from the seasonal menu.
MARBL
Head to Marbl on King West for MARBBLanc, presented by Belvedere Vodka, is offering a four-course prix fixe menu filled with exclusive items and complimentary bubbly. There will be two seatings available at 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. for $95 per person.
Byblos
Head over to either Byblos location for its Midnight in Marrakesh party that has seatings until 7 p.m. at $90 per person, or after 8 p.m. at $125 set menu with complimentary bubbles. Keep the party going because there’s a huge bonus at the downtown location! Show your dinner receipt to get free entry to the Weslodge after party.
Piano Piano
This is a special one because over here at Piano Piano, it’s a prix fixe menu with choice options. With three seatings available at 5 p.m., 7 p.m., and 9p.m., optional items will include your choice of pasta, pizza, or main course as well as a glass of Mumm Cordon Rouge for $89.
Rosalinda
If vegan is more your vibe, then Rosalinda has your back with it’s tasty Mexican dishes. The folks over at Rosalinda are keeping the kitchens open late and will be serving up its full menu of plant based eats.
