Canadian shoppers get excited for some real nostalgia (again). Zellers is set to enter Canada next year.

Hudson’s Bay is playing a major role in reviving the brand once again, which is due to the fact that HBC still owns the rights to the name of the Zellers chain.

A post shared by 2day FM GP (@2dayfmgp)

According to HBC, Zellers will be back sometime next year stating, “Arriving early 2023, the distinctly Canadian retailer Zellers will debut a new e-commerce site and leverage the nationwide network of prime brick-and-mortar Hudson’s Bay locations as it expands its footprint in major cities across the country.”

So not only will you be able to shop the beloved discount store in person, but it’ll also be available online for the first time ever!

For those who may not remember, Zellers launched a pop-up store last year in the Burlington Center Hudson’s Bay.  The classic Zellers logo hung high and the area was decked out in the red and white colour combo.

HBC says that some of the categories that you can expect are home decor, furniture, small appliances, and toys, with apparel coming shortly after, all at great prices.

Although there isn’t any word on whether the iconic Zellers restaurant will return (which we’re really hoping it does), we’re still super excited to see the revival of this chain again in Canada. It’s really giving us all the feels!

Another international brand is making moves into the Canadian market. The Spanish apparel chain, Mango, is planning on opening a ton of stores across the country and a Canadian eCommerce site too.

According to Retail Insider, there will be around 20 new stores with some opening this fall.

A total of six stores are headed for Toronto and will all be open for shopping by 2023.

Mango is known for its minimalistic, yet trendy items that are averagely priced. If you’ve never heard of or seen the brand before, you can pretty much compare it to a Zara.

We recently reported that a Mango location will be at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre and is taking up a spot that once belonged to a Victoria’s Secret.

Currently, since Canada doesn’t have any Mango stores, we’ve only ever been able to shop the brand in person at select Hudson’s Bay locations.

Retail Insider has also stated that Mango has wanted to enter Canada for quite some time now and has finally partnered with Fox Group to make it happen.

Another brand is expanding in Canada! Athleta will be opening five new stores across the country this year.

According to Retail Insider, the Gap Inc. owned activewear brand will open locations at CF Chinook Centre (Calgary), CF Sherway Gardens (Etobicoke), West Edmonton Mall (Edmonton), 1035 Robson Street (Vancouver), and the fifth being the recent spot in Mapleview Centre (Burlington).

Even up until last year, Canadians weren’t able to even shop the brand online. Now, the e-commerce site is available as well as a few physical stores.

The Mapleview Centre Athleta is the third operating location in Canada right now, alongside one in Vancouver and one in Yorkdale, so by the end of 2022, there will be a total of seven.

It was first reported last year that Athleta has major expansion plans across North America, so it makes sense to see it making moves.

The best part is that Athleta prides itself on being size-inclusive and offering products created with sustainable materials.

It’s in fact a certified B Corporation, meaning it’s not only committed to reducing its environmental impact but also to using fair labour practices.

Foot Locker Canada has some big news. The company is opening a brand new Power Store in Markham.

The retail space located at 179 Enterprise Boulevard will have a grand opening celebration on April 29.

This will be the third Power Store to open in Canada which follows one in Vancouver and one in Toronto located at 306 Yonge Street.

A Power Store is described as an elevated retail experience, so that means a larger space than a typical Foot Locker store and an extensive product offering.

The Markham Foot Locker is going to be a massive 5,600 square feet and will give customers the chance to browse top labels and new ones like the local brand, Crane Apparel.

It’ll also have a Call N’ Collect window so customers can purchase and pick up orders with ease. Plus, the store will later launch a digital screen that shows “menu items” as another way to place orders.

Talk about convenience!

Back in the summer of 2021, Suzy Shier acquired the company, which made Le Château’s launch of its capsule collection in November possible. Since then, the brand has only been available on the Suzy Shier website.

The apparel and footwear will be fully available in 37 Suzy Shier stores throughout Canada starting on April 21.

Now, you’ll be able to actually get your hands on the pieces and browse racks of the beautiful eveningwear in person.

These stores will offer both Suzy Shier, which will showcase daytime and workwear, and Le Château which will take care of the nighttime looks.
