If you’re a huge fan of Dollarama, then you’re going to love this news! Dollarama is opening around 700 new stores all across Canada.
As of January 31, 2021, the Canadian dollar store reported that it operated 1,356 stores. The President and CEO of Dollarama, Neil Rossy, spoke on the expansion in a press release, “Based on our historical performance, our hard-earned position as a weekly shopping destination for Canadian families, and a careful evaluation of market potential and dynamics, we are increasing our long-term growth target in Canada to 2,000 stores by 2031.”
Although Dollarama incurred $84 million in costs related to COVID-19 measures last year, the company actually had a sales increase by 6.3% overall and opened 65 stores.
This is definitely one of the largest expansions we’ve seen in a while, especially during the pandemic.
Dollarama first opened its doors with products at price points of $1, but as of 2016, it’s included items that are up to $4.
