6 Essential Kitchen Appliances That Are Worth The Counter Space

If you’re anything like me, then the kitchen is one of the most-used rooms in your home. Not only am I an avid cook, but I happen to have a real soft spot for cookware and, of course, appliances of all sorts. However, one only has so much counter space available for said appliances, and what makes the cut has to be worthy of such valuable kitchen real estate. If you’re looking to spruce up your cooking game with new essential appliances for your kitchen, then pay close attention!

Keep reading for 6 kitchen essentials that are more than worth the counter space!

Philips Avance XXL AirFryer, $369

Let’s be real: fried food is delicious. If calories weren’t a thing, I’d probably eat fried food all day, everyday. However, we all know that crispy, crunchy foods are, unfortunately, the most fattening and unhealthy. That is until you get your hands on the Philips Avance XXL AirFryer that not only makes cooking a total breeze, but uses just a drop of oil to make foods that normally use a lot. With just a few presses of a button and turn of a dial, I whipped up juicy and crispy on the outside BBQ chicken (without firing up the BBQ!), in less than a half hour. I admit I was a bit intimidated by the sheer size of this machine but it was crazy easy to get the hang of. Not only can the AirFryer make crave-satisfying french fries, but you can even turn out desserts in this baby, too! The world really is your oyster, or in this case, your AirFryer!

Vitamix Ascent Series A3500, $819

Blenders are definitely a kitchen essential, but why spend money on one that’s lacklustre? If you’re shelling out your hard-earned bucks on one blender, I can’t recommend Vitamix enough. While all the Vitamix models are worth the counter space, the brands Ascent Series A3500 is my personal fave, and for good reason. This supercharged baby has wireless compatibility, a built-in timer, five programmed settings, and a touch screen. The built-in timer is what I’m most excited about because now I can make my morning smoothie and not have to sit there and wait until it’s done. Being that Vitamix is the Cadillac of blenders, the A3500 will not only be one of the most used appliances on your counter but with its chic and sleek design, it’ll also look fab on display!

SodaStream Fizzi, $119

We all know we need to be drinking more water. If you even have to ask yourself if you’ve had enough to drink, you probably haven’t, and sometimes, straight water can be so boring. If plain old water isn’t your vibe, then a SodaStream should be at the top of your list. The SodaStream Fizzi is literally my new favourite kitchen gadget because it’s a breeze to use and it takes up a very small amount of space because it’s designed for smaller, more modern kitchens. In addition to the sleek design, it’s also cordless which is a godsend because it seems that no kitchen has enough outlets to go around. Simply fill the bottle to the line, push to carbonate, and that’s it — instant sparkling water. If you’re looking for more flavour, get yourself one of the many delicious flavours from SodaPress Co. like Blueberry Mint or Raspberry Mint.

Nespresso CitiZ&milk, $339

If you’re like me, then your morning and day pretty much revolves around coffee. And not just any coffee, I have to say that now that I’ve experienced the magic of a Nespresso, I’m never going back to weak convenience store coffee anytime soon. Recently, the StyleDemocracy office was gifted with a Nespresso CitiZ&milk and it’s not only everyone’s fave, but it has pride of place in our humble office kitchen area. While some coffee machines can make you feel like you need a PhD to figure them out, the Nespresso Citiz&milk was a breeze to get the hang of. The only thing left to do now is master the art of latte art!

Smeg Electric Kettle, $239

As much as I love a good cup of coffee in the morning, there’s just nothing quite like a cup of tea after a long day. An essential part of a quality cuppa starts with a top of the line kettle and that’s where Smeg comes in. The brand is known for its quality appliances all outfitted with a retro-style design that instantly jazzes up even the most basic of kitchens.

Staub 11-Inch Cast Iron Braiser, $344

I know this isn’t exactly an appliance, but in my kitchen, my Staub Cast Iron Braiser is an essential item that sits on my stovetop with pride of place. Besides being absolutely gorgeous, this piece of cookware is so versatile, and will become your go-to pan when whipping up one-pan dishes, curries, desserts, and casseroles. While the price tag is a bit steep, when it’s Staub, you know you’re getting the best of the best for your buck.
