Business of Fashion (BoF) is reporting that after 26 years, Jenna Lyons is leaving J.Crew. Lyons, who rose up through the ranks to become Creative Director and then President, is stepping away from the brand, stating that, “it was time for a change”.
J.Crew is currently struggling, and the hole that Lyons will leave marks an interesting problem for J.Crew. Last year, sales for J.Crew decreased 6% and according to BoF, the brand accumulated $1.5 billion USD in debt. According to several articles, J.Crew may be on the verge of bankruptcy, and with the departure of arguably their most notable employee, it doesn’t look great for the retailer’s future interests.
What do you think Jenna Lyons’ departure means for J.Crew?
