As earlier reported, U.S.-based home retailer Pier 1 Imports has been preparing for bankruptcy. At the time, it wasn’t clear what would happen to its Canadian operations, but the future has since been revealed.
After years of struggling to turn a profit and failed turnaround plans, Pier 1 Imports will close all 67 of its Canadian stores.
Pier 1 has officially filed for voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy and will be scaling back its operations in the U.S.
With this decision comes the closure of all Canadian locations, however, no exact date for the closures has been announced. According to a press release, Pier 1 stores and its website will continue to operate until the official dates are locked in.
Pier 1 joins a long list of other retailers shutting down Canadian operations, including Bose, Links of London, Bench, and more.
