Starbucks has taken a leading position in the war against plastic straws. Today, Starbucks announced their plans to eliminate all single-use straws from every store by 2020.
Starbucks has just completed a design and has already developed and manufactured a strawless lif that will become the standard for all beverages sold at Starbucks locations across the globe.
This plan set forth by Starbucks makes the coffee giant the largest food and beverage retailer to commit to eliminating straws. Starbucks internally believes that their plan will eliminate more than 1 billion plastic straws in the first year of the plan.
For customers that are insistent on having straws, Starbucks has committed to using alternative-material straws that will be made of paper or compostable plastic.
