This announcement comes after the news, which was reported last year, that Starbucks was aiming to close 200 locations Throughout Canada within 2 years

Although this may come as a shock, Starbucks isn’t going anywhere. In fact, this is actually part of its store transformation strategy.

The new strategy includes closing stores to restructure and expand services like new drive thru locations, curbside pick-up only, and delivery.

Starbucks has noted that its customer preferences have changed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, so the company has chosen to figure out ways to adapt. A spokesperson for the brand explained in a statement that the new changes will “best meet our customers where they are now.”

The coffee shop company has stated that it won’t be releasing a list of store closures, but majority of these closures will be those in downtown areas all over Canada.
