Although quite popular, if you’re unfamiliar with Farm Boy, it’s basically a Canadian version of Trader Joe’s, which is all the rage in the USA for those looking for organic produce and a salad bar. Plus, it has delicious (must-try) baked goods.

The Canadian chain actually reported back in 2019 that part of its growth strategy involved plans of expansion throughout southern Ontario, and they’ve definitely kept to that.

You’ll find the news about the opening right on the Farm Boy site, in which there are already 44 stores across Ontario.

We’re so excited to see where else Farm Boy pops up!

We’ve been seeing major expansion for Farm Boy across Toronto and the GTA recently, which is awesome news. The growing chain is now operating more than 40 stores across Ontario.

Its latest location will potentially be located at the MetroCentre at 200 Wellington Street West.

Digital photos were submitted to the City this past summer, and it looks like the Farm Boy may be confirmed for that spot.

Although the submission was recent, the images are actually from 2019. That is to say, it’s not a last-minute plan by the grocery chain by any means.

As far as opening dates or even pictures of the actual spot, those have not been released yet. Although we can’t confirm anything one hundred percent, keep your eyes open for updates that should come shortly!

New Farm Boy locations in Toronto that we can confirm will be at 5245 Dundas Street West which will open September 16 and 744 Dupont Street opening sometime this year.

Attention all Farm Boy fans! The organic grocery chain has just announced its plan to open 5 new locations in Toronto.

The grocer has experienced major popularity since it opened its first Toronto location in March 2018 with its store on Brown’s Line. Farm Boy also opened a store on Lakeshore East earlier this year.

Right now there are 28 Farm Boy stores throughout Ontario and more are on the way.

In addition to the new Toronto stores that are coming, Farm Boy will open new stores in Newmarket, St. Catharines, and Ottawa.

“We’ve delivered a world-class fresh-market shopping experience for 38 years,” said Jeff York, co-CEO of Farm Boy, in a release. “Our in-store experience and fresh food offering continues to evolve with our customers and get stronger with each store we open. We’re delighted to see how well our offer continues to resonate with our customers. Farm Boy is entering an exciting phase of our growth plans as we expand our presence in the GTA and Ottawa, while also entering new markets like the Niagara region.”

Farm Boy’s new Toronto locations will be at College Park, Yonge and Soudan, Front and Bathurst, Dundas West and Aukland, and Dupont and Christie.

It’s reported that the new Farm Boy stores will range in size from 12,000 – 38,000 square feet and don’t worry: they’ll all be filled with the brands own line of products, takeout items, and hundreds of local and fresh Ontario products.

These new Farm Boy stores in Toronto are all slated to open in 2020 and 2021.

The new, 20,000 square foot fresh market in Etobicoke – Farm Boy’s 25th location – celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Farm Boy has exploded since 1981, from Cornwall, Ontario to a more ‘Whole Foods-style shopping experience,’ with over 24 stores around the province. Some of the newer locations have shown up in Whitby, Pickering, Kitchener and London, Ontario. Their next store opening will be in in Hamilton.

It provides a unique and friendly, fresh-market shopping experience featuring their signature farm-fresh produce, organic, natural and locally sourced foods, plus their popular store brands and wholesome fresh prepared meals, made from scratch in the Farm Boy Kitchen. They also feature salad and hot bars with breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Farm Boy carries its own line of private label products with 60 new products launched in 2017.

Farm Boy already has begun to talk about expansions into Southern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area, followed by the rest of Canada. “When I joined Farm Boy we travelled around the world looking for the best food ideas and then we ranked our stores against the best in the world and then we decided where we needed to get better. We decided we wanted to be more like Wegman’s. We wanted to be more like Trader Joe’s. We wanted to be more like Whole Foods. We wanted to be more like great stores Marks & Spencer Food. Great stores. We got on a mission to change ourselves. It was an evolution because you don’t change overnight. We evolved into a store that has three distinct shops now,” said CEO Jeff York.

According to Retail-Insider, they would like to be defined as a fresh food experience and not as a grocery chain.
