Jollibee is finally opening its first downtown Toronto location! It’s expected to open its doors before the end of the year.
Back in 2019, the Filipino fried chicken joint did announce that it would be opening a new restaurant on 334 Yonge Street in Toronto, but didn’t mention anything since then, until now, of course.
A spokesperson for Jollibee confirmed in a statement to BlogTo that it will be opening on the corner of Yonge and Gould. The area is quite popular with retail and often busy with people, so it’s definitely a great spot to open for business.
So, even though you may not be able to feast at the restaurant, the important thing is that you can still enjoy your fried chicken elsewhere.
If you’re a fan of the restaurant, then stay tuned for more news on opening dates.

Well it’s about freaking time. Us Canadians have been hearing about the infamous Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich for some time now, and we’re super excited to announce that it’s finally making its way north of the border.
Big food news – Canada will be getting the famed Popeyes chicken sandwich that has caused a sensation in the U.S. The Chief Corporate Officer at RBI tells me “The plan is later this year, though we have not announced when yet. “We are aiming for later this year” pic.twitter.com/cWcbDmlDAj
— Richard Southern (@richard680news) February 14, 2020
The news was first reported by Richard Southern, a reporter for 680 News and a Popeye’s spokesperson told Narcity, “As previously reported we plan to bring the sandwich to Canada later this year, but have not yet announced specific dates.”
Wondering why this sandwich is making headlines? Well, it consists of a white-meat chicken breast that’s marinated in tasty Louisiana seasonings that’s hand-battered in a buttermilk dredge. After it’s been fried to perfection, it’s served on a toasted brioche bun complete with pickles and classic or spicy mayonnaise.
Here’s hoping that there are enough chicken sandwiches to go around once it launches in Canada!
