There are tons of outlet stores popping up across Canada that promise amazing brands and even better discounts. Unfortunately, many of us live more than a stone’s throw away from the outlets we want to visit or end up driving the hour (or four) only to be disappointed by the selection.

Outlets tend to be messy, over-picked, and chaotic but our desire to score a discount outweighs all the cons — snagging a deal while shopping is our number one priority! While there are a number of ways you can save by shopping online at regular-priced retailers, we’ve found a number of retailers with online outlet stores that will help you save a couple of bucks while you’re shopping.

Here are online outlet stores to take advantage of.

The classic American retailer has its very own factory store online with clothing, footwear, and accessories for the whole family at a fraction of the price of its regular retail stores. While they do ship to Canada, shoppers should be mindful of their American prices and the $9.95 USD that it costs to ship across the border.

Pro tip: Check out the website’s clearance section for extra deals on deals.

It might still be cold but GUESS is heating things up in its new spring campaign.

For Spring 2020, GUESS has partnered with global music superstar J Balvin for a capsule collection that’s full of colour.

The GUESS x J Balvin Colores Capsule Collection is inspired by the singer’s upcoming March album.

This partnership marks the “6 AM” singer’s second time collaborating with GUESS.

The new spring collection pays homage to the Colombian artist’s vibrant and colourful style, which can be seen in the tops, swimwear, hats, socks, and more featured in the collection. The collection offers pieces for men, women, and kids — perfect for the family that loves to listen to J Balvin.

The campaign also plays on the singer’s roots.

A closer look at the collection reveals imagery of buildings, food, and scenery of J Balvin’s hometown, Medellin, and the campaign was actually shot there with fans of all ages.

The collection will launch in-store and online at GUESS.com around May 1. Until then, take a closer look at the campaign and some of our favourite pieces from the GUESS x J Balvin Colores Capsule Collection below.

If you’ve noticed several high-profile and ’90s brands making a comeback, you’re not wrong! Thanks to Logomania and Instagram’s “IT” girls, labels like Fendi, Champion, and even Crocs are wooing us into loving them again. For anyone with doubt, just look how well it worked out for Calvin Klein, Puma, and Adidas. Maybe it’s our image-driven society, but nowadays if you have designer “something”, you’re going to want to flaunt it (most likely in a snap).

Take a look at 8 brands making a comeback to the limelight below.

Tommy Hilfiger

Instagram/ @tommyhilfiger

Thanks to huge stars like Gigi Hadid wearing Tommy Hilfiger, and other influencers starring in campaigns, the brand is back, and with a fresh look. While it’s not the Tommy we once knew and wore in grade school, the new aesthetic is an elevated take on logomania – gotta love that red, blue, and white. Not to mention their leap into logo-hewn intimates, fueling the same fire as Calvin Klein.

Fila

Instagram/ @filausa

Fila hasn’t missed the rise of the chunky sneaker or branded hoodie, making sure to appease to the masses with their own version of the trend. After popular streetwear brand Supreme started partnering with high-fashion designers like Louis Vuitton, we saw a whole new demand for more affordable streetwear options. Fila definitely falls within that category and is well on its way to being up there in popularity with Adidas.

Fendi

Instagram/ @fendi

After Kim Kardashian or Kylie Jenner give you their blessings, there’s only one way to go, and it’s up. The Fendi logo was basically seen everywhere after some of the Kardashian-Jenner clan (including Stormi) sported it in multiple photos on their Instagrams. Since then, creative director of Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld, has made sure that the brown logo is just about the only thing we see on Instagram and street style pics.

Coach

Instagram/ @coach

If you didn’t have a Coach wristlet in the ’00s then you weren’t living. While the brand was crazy popular back in the day, they faded into the shadows up until recently. The label totally rebranded: less focus on wristlets, and more focus on a new look that included Selena Gomez. This perhaps has been one of the biggest comebacks to watch, as Coach seemingly reasserted itself as more high-end than it was before.

Kappa

Instagram/ @kappa_official

Kappa is another ’90s streetwear brand that is trying to make a come back; emphasis on track suits! Sometimes it’s better to stick to your guns and do what you know, like in the case of Kappa and their now modernized matching track tops and bottoms. It will be interesting to see if they can differentiate enough from other brands like Adidas and Champion, who have already made a very strong presence amongst celebrities and influencers.

Champion

Instagram/ @champion

Similar to Supreme and Louis Vuitton, Champion is another brand who partnered with a high-profile designer label – this time Vetement. The exclusive collection definitely caused a stir with celebs like Cardi B who was photographed wearing it. No doubt faithful streetwear followers scrambled to get their hands on the collab, also doing good things for the brand’s regular duds and status.

Guess

Instagram/ @guess

Celebrities like JLo and ASAP Rocky came to the rescue of Guess, when they starred in the brand’s reboot. This and the increased popularity and sightings of the brand on Instagram slowly reminded us of how much we used to love their jeans (#amiright?). After the much needed update, everyone wants to get their hands on a pair, as well as one of their tees because no one can resist another branded t-shirt.

Crocs

Instagram/ @mon1ka.brand

No word of a lie, but Crocs are actually making an under the radar comeback. The comfy, but horribly awkward looking slides were super popular when we were younger, but no one could have predicted that they’d be so cool. Case in point: the collaboration Crocs did with runway designer Christopher Kane, and then later Balenciaga. The fugly shoe cost $850 US, however still flew off the shelves, evidently becoming one of the hottest fads of the 2018. I wouldn’t be surprised if Crocs made another headlining appearance in 2019.

Reuters is reporting that Guess’ co-founder, Paul Marciano has resigned as the company’s executive chairman after a committee completed their investigation into allegations of improper conduct.

Although there has been a history of alleged improper behaviour, the catalyst behind Mr Marciano’s departure was famous model/ actress Kate Upton who tweeted that Marciano used his power to harass women. After the allegations from Upton in February Marciano took a step down from his day to day responsibilities.

He shouldn’t be allowed to use his power in the industry to sexually and emotionally harass women #metoo

A post shared by Kate Upton (@kateupton) on

Although Marciano stepped down, Reuters reports that the investigative committee concluded that the allegations which included inappropriate texts and comments could not be corroborated.  The committee did conclude that in certain situations Marciano used poor judgement in communicating with models and photographers.

Guess did pay out $500,000 in non-confidential settlement agreements to 5 individuals who made claims against Marciano.

Guess appointed Paul Marciano’s brother, Maurice Marciano as current chairman of the board.

Even though the Christmas holiday season is not here yet, fashion brands are already taking care of what we’re going to wear in spring. And Guess is one of them.

Starting February 2018 all fans of the brand will be able to get their hands on the new elegant, sexy and feminine collection.

This upcoming Spring season Guess stays loyal to its Southern California sexy and adventurous aesthetic, at the same time appealing to the sensual side of every girl.  The collection features signature red corset mini-dresses, lace-up dresses with deep v neck, romantic dusty pink bomber-jackets and flowy blouses adorned with floral prints and lace. All pieces are versatile and easy to mix and match.

In February, the brand will present gentle and subtle pieces based on pastel colours and feminine silhouettes. With the coming of Spring, we’ll see tropical prints and floral embellishments taking over, as well as lighter fabrics and deep cutouts, which have become signature elements in every Guess collection.

The collection has you covered for all occasions – from a spontaneous southern weekend getaway with your significant other to your everyday visit to the gym. Yes, if you didn’t know Guess also offers a stylish activewear line. The line includes such must-haves as leggings, active tops, hoodies, bralettes and more.

Despite the wide variety of different styles, fabrics and silhouettes, for many Guess means jeans in the first place. And this spring Guess will present a “denim” swimsuit, one of the highlights of the Spring 2018 collection and a must-have of the season.

Take a sneak peek into the new Guess collection here:

Not to steal Heidi Klum’s line, but what she says about fashion holds to be true: “One day you’re in, and the next, you’re out.” But even when a brand does fall off the map, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re gone for good. During that time, a brand has two choices: accept defeat or establish a comeback plan.

These five fashion brands came in hot but then started to wane after a few years. Recently, they have been able to get back on track, and are now some of the most popular brands in fashion today. Maybe you should have kept those Juicy Couture tracksuits or those logo emblazoned tote bags, because brands that go out of style eventually come back into style a couple years later.

No matter how ridiculous a trend may seem, odds are you’ll see it again some time in the future. When it comes to fashion, certain clothing styles and brand labels seem to undergo some sort of resurgence. Here are a few fashion brands that have experienced just that and have made a major comeback.

Guess

Image: Instagram/@kaaaaaaaaaaanta

No longer just a forgotten mall brand, Guess most recently joined forces with A$AP Rocky for a logo-heavy capsule collection. The collection features a variety of summer pastels, stripes and throwback classic styles that have provided Guess with a resurgence in coolness. The brand has also revived its old logo and brought back a lot of their vintage items. And just like that, the brand is suddenly trendy again.

Tommy Hilfiger

Image: Instagram/@TommyHilfiger

Tommy Hilfiger is basically the original athleisure brand in fashion. Back when the brand first started, it’s red and blue logo was plastered everywhere. Now, celebs are bringing the brand back in the form of bralettes and sweatpants. The peak of the brand’s comeback happened last year when model and it-girl Gigi Hadid — Tommy Hilfiger’s global brand ambassador — co-designed a California-themed collection with a revamped line of preppy staples that were less nautical and more SoCal chic.

Puma

Image: Instagram/@puma

This one is mostly thanks to fashion icon Rihanna. Her Fenty x PUMA collection made certain that platform shoes, furry slides and creepers will have a place in fashion for at least a couple years. The brand also expanded to bring on ambassadors with Kylie Jenner, The Weeknd, Big Sean, Young Thug and most recently, Selena Gomez. All this has skyrocketed PUMA’s reputation and has made its streetwear styles a hot commodity. The brand’s efforts at revitalization have been so effective that it has snagged the top spot in the sportswear market from its biggest competitor Under Armour.

Coach

Image: Instagram/@Coach

It’s probably safe to assume that at one point or another, you owned a Coach wristlet. But that was probably years ago, and since then the brand sort of fell off the map — until now. Thanks to its new creative director, Stuart Vevers, the brand has taken on a more high fashion aesthetic and revived its brand to target a more millennial audience, using pop star Selena Gomez as the new face. The brand also started using more playful designs in its clothing and accessories, emphasizing cool motifs. Their latest ads have even featured Chloë Grace Moretz and Kid Cudi — something you probably wouldn’t expect from the old Coach brand.

adidas

Image: Instagram/@adidasoriginals

adidas Superstars and Stan Smiths have had a serious comeback over the past few years and have become a staple of street-style fashion. And with athleticwear becoming a trend seen in other places than just the gym, adidas has seen a boost in sales, and opened 1,100 new stores globally last year alone, including the first Canadian ‘Neighbourhood Concept’ on Queen St. West. adidas’ classic three-stripe sweatpants can be seen on trendsetters and celebs alike, highlighting that Adidas’ retail presence is currently bigger than ever before.
