This 1994 Christmas movie classic has stood the test of time, still remaining to be one of the best Christmas movies! After you watch The Santa Clause, you can watch the two sequels that follow! We sense a Christmas movie marathon coming.

Have you missed viewing movies on the big screen? Although indoor theatres are still restricted, drive-in movie theatres will be re-opening very soon!

Drive-in theatres across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area have said that there are plans in the works to open as early as March.

Google Maps/Andy Warrier

The 5 Drive-In in Oakville took to Facebook last week to announce the great news. The post stated “…We are gearing up and getting ready to start our 2021 season in Early March. We will have lots of amazing content and we will surely create some more incredible memories to last a lifetime. Watch out in the next few weeks for further exciting announcements…”

Even the Premier Theatres owner, Brian Allen, spoke out to blogTo explaining that they have hopes, COVID permitting, to open its three locations as soon as March 5. He even told the media outlet that they’ll be offering films of all genres from vintage to new releases.

Instagram/@kimberlybbuchanan

As of right now, Ontario Place’s Drive-In will continue to stay closed until at least April, so Toronto residents will have to make a drive to the next closest theatre—although, a short trip for some great entertainment.

Grab your popcorn and drink, lay back, and enjoy the show!

With the events that have unfolded over the past few weeks and everything we’ve learnt, it’s more important than ever to keep it up and continue educating ourselves. A great way to do that is to do a deep dive into black cinema to further understand all of the struggles, stories, and experiences. Although we can’t go to movie theatres right now (hello, COVID-19), Cineplex has done us a huge solid by making movies by black creators totally free to rent.

In addition to allowing us to stream these films for absolutely free, Cineplex is covering the royalties themselves, too.

“In a time when many are turning to movies to become informed and empowered, we want to help. This collection of important films was curated to elevate Black stories, artists and filmmakers and spark discussion. These films are available to view at no cost,” reads the company’s website.

Titles available to rent range from The Color Purple, Moonlight, Get Out, Boyz N The Hood, Hidden Figures, Malcolm X, and many more.

To start streaming, all you have to do is create an account and rent your movie of choice for $0. Once you rent it, it’ll be available to watch for two days.

Seeing that we’re all spending most of our time at home these days, figuring out what to watch every day can be tricky when there are so many entertaining options on the streaming site. If you’re in search of some stylish movies to watch while you’re saving the world at home, then see below for our top picks.

Here are 10 stylish movies to watch on Netflix!

Sex And The City

Following the lives of four glamorous New York City women, Sex And The City is the continuation of the series with the same name that’s still as popular as ever. Right now you can watch the first movie as well as its sequel. Expect lots of fashion, sex talk, and more fashion!

Gone With The Wind

If you have a spare four hours (let’s be real: these days we all do!), then you should definitely spend it watching Gone With The Wind. The 1939 classic not only tells the tale of the American Civil War, but it features some incredible fashion and style of the era!

13 Going On 30

Cult fave film 13 Going On 30 stars Jennifer Garner and she magically goes from being a young 13-year-old to 30 working at a fashion magazine all in the blink of an eye because of a birthday wish.

How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days

Another cult favourite is How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, which stars Kate Hudson and the hunky Matthew McConaughey. The film features classic 2000s fashion and is also super entertaining as the movie’s plot centres around bets that the two make to further their own professional agendas.

Clueless

’90s film Clueless is a classic for a reason. Apart from its super quotable lines and the fact it stars a young Paul Rudd, the film’s wardrobe is quintessential ’90s and we can’t get enough. The most famous is the classic plaid skirt suit seen on Cher Horowitz!

Titanic

Another ’90s film with an incredible wardrobe is Titanic. While we know that the storyline isn’t exactly uplifting — in fact, it’s quite the opposite — the Edwardian fashion from the era is almost as breathtaking as Jack and Rose’s love.

The Tourist

If you haven’t seen The Tourist yet, it’s high time you did. The flick stars Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp and in case you need another reason, it’s packed with action, drama, suspense, and incredible fashion that’s classic, polished, and just downright chic.

Burlesque

Starring Cher and Christina Aguilera, Burlesque is about more than dancing — the film follows Ali (Aguilera) who moves from Iowa to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams of taking the stage. Expect to see lots of glam costumes that leave little to the imagination!

The Hunger Games

Even though now it feels like we should be finding out what district we’re in right now, The Hunger Games is definitely worth watching or re-watching not just for the action, but for the fashion as well. The outfits seen on characters like Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) and Caesar Flickerman (Stanley Tucci) is so fun and bright!

The Young Victoria

If period pieces are more your jam, The Young Victoria follows the life of Queen Victoria once she suddenly becomes Queen of England. The film’s wardrobe is exquisite with hoop skirts and corsets, as is the storyline of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s love.
