This is just the first drop of more capsules to come in the coming weeks and beyond, as part of a multi-year partnership between Skechers and Snoop Dogg.

“The excellent team at Skechers took my ideas and my flavour and we created this collection for all walks of life,” said Snoop in a Skechers press release. “Step yo shoe game up with my style and swag in every pair—with Skechers you’ll be comfortable wherever you go. Wear them with a suit to a wedding or on the court with shorts, you’ll look fly either way because these shoes are for everyone.”

adidas has officially announced a new, innovative, and sustainable line of sneakers. The sneaker collection will actually be created by using mushrooms. Yes, you heard that correctly.

The brand has been on a mission to break new ground and become as sustainable as they possibly can. So, adidas has partnered up with Bolt Threads to create a mushroom-leather textile. The shoes will be produced by using mycelium, which is a part of fungi that produces mushrooms.

It will be the first time that this type of leather will be used in the footwear industry.

This isn’t adidas first time offering vegan footwear. In fact, in 2020 it launched a selection of classic sneakers that were all plant-based. This is on track for adidas goal of reaching climate neutrality by 2050.

The adidas CEO, Kasper Rorsted, said in a press release that, ““Sustainability is an integral part of the adidas business philosophy, we have continued to invest in sustainability initiatives during the coronavirus pandemic and we will significantly expand our range of sustainable products in 2021.”

It’s not just restaurants that are having a hard time. Popular sneaker store Exclucity is closing the doors to its only Toronto location after five years.

According to BlogTO, the sneaker shop which is located on Queen West is being replaced with cannabis store Cori which is set to open this fall.

Exclucity founder Trent, aka Trent Out Loud, says that the store’s lease was up and operating online was proving to be more profitable.

“As a business owner, I had to think of what the future will be like,” says Trent in a statement to BlogTO. “My customers were already online. I’m not recreating the wheel.”

At one point, Exclucity had eight locations across Canada, with four in the GTA.

The sneaker store isn’t the only place as of late that’s closing its doors. It was just revealed that Mendocino and M Boutique are shutting its stores for good and iconic Queen Street restaurant Cafe Crepe has just sadly closed as well.

As the temperature slowly drops, there is no reason to stop wearing your sneakers. It is almost a reason to continue wearing sneakers to help stand out from those wearing boots and other shoes that are more traditionally seen as fall shoes. Whether you like running shoes with breathable uppers or something a bit more weather appropriate, there are so many different sneakers available for you this fall.

With the fall approaching in the coming days, here are ten sneakers that you must have for fall 2018:

Air Jordan 1

Image: Instagram/@sgo8

One of the most iconic silhouettes of all-time, the Air Jordan 1 is a timeless pair of shoes that can be worn throughout the entire year. Although it is a design from 1985, it is a pair of shoes that will never go out of style and it always stays relevant with retros of iconic colourways and key partnerships such as the most recent with Nigel Sylvester.

Air Jordan 3

The Air Jordan 3 has been at the forefront in 2018 with this year being the 30th anniversary of the silhouette. We have seen original colourways such as the Black Cement 3 re-release alongside slightly updated new models in the collaborations with Justin Timberlake. Whether you’re wearing a pair of beat-up Black Cement Air Jordan 3’s or a crisp new pair Justin Timberlake Bio-Beige pair, you can do no wrong with a pair of Jordan 3’s this fall.

adidas Consortium x Arc’teryx x Livestock Ultra Tech GTX

With 2018 marking the 10 year anniversary of the first collaboration between adidas and Canadian boutique, Livestock, a new collaborative project is on the horizon. The Ultra Tech GTX combines design aspects from both the Terrex Skychaser GTX and the Oregon Ultra Tech for a modern silhouette with a slightly retro feel. A GORE-TEX upper, replaceable speed lacing, and leather panels are just some of the features on this outdoorsy sneaker.

adidas ZX 500 RM

adidas continues to find the perfect mix between modern technology and classic designs with the adidas ZX 500 RM. This model takes the ZX running style from the 1980’s retooled with a modern cushioning system. It combines a mesh and suede upper from the ZX model with the cushioning system that helped adidas take off in recent years, the BOOST cushioning system. If you’re a big Dragon Ball Z fan, look out for the upcoming Goku colourway from the collaboration.

ASICS GEL-Mai

If you are wanting to stand out from the pack and wear something that you don’t see on everyone’s feet, look no further than this futuristic design from ASICS. The GEL-Mai is a redesign of a classic trail running silhouette featuring a durable and breathable mesh upper with an asymmetrical lacing system. If you want to stand out eve more, there are some amazing collaborations on this silhouette such as the ASICS x Monkey Time x United Arrows GEL-Mai.

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star 1970’s

How do you make the iconic Converse Chuck Taylor All Star even better? You recraft it using a heavier-grade canvas on the upper and a slightly higher rubber foxing with a more substantial rubber toe cap for the ultimate Chuck Taylor experience. This is a pair of shoes that looks better with age and you are able to tell your unique story with each pair of Chuck Taylors the more you wear them.

Nike React Element 87

Arguably one of the most hyped shoes of 2018, the Nike React Element 87 took the summer by storm with its unique semi-translucent upper sitting on top of Nike’s latest cushioning technology, the React cushioning system. It is one of the first lifestyle shoes that Nike released with its React technology and it instantly became one of the most sought after shoes of the year.

Nike Air Force 1

Whatever the season, you can’t go wrong with a crispy pair of Air Force 1’s. Whether you are a fan of the low, mid or high cut, there is a design that will fit your personal style best with a wide array of colourways to match. Although you can’t go wrong with a classic pair of Air Force 1’s, you can always look for collaborative designs such as the Public School NY design for a modern twist at the classic design.

PUMA Suede

When you think of the PUMA Suede, you think of the classic two-tone suede upper that has been seen on the feet of people of all ages. One of the beautiful things about PUMA and the work that they have done on the Suede model is the variety of unique designs of the Suede that is available now. The most recent collaboration with The Weeknd is essentially a PUMA Suede that has been transformed into a military boot, making it perfect for the fall season.

Under Armour HOVR Phantom

One of the least talked about sneaker technology on the market at the moment has to be the HOVR technology from Under Armour. It rivals the cushioning technology offered by other footwear brands and to top it off, it looks great on-feet as well. The HOVR Phantom features a sock-like knit upper sitting on top of the HOVR cushioning system that feels like wrapping your feet on a pillow.

When Virgil Abloh was appointed as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton menswear this past March following the departure of Kim Jones, it was a monumental moment in the history of luxury fashion. He was in the midst of his incredibly successful collaborative project with Nike and was one of the most influential individuals in the fashion industry.

Virgil is a social media savant and prior to joining Louis Vuitton, he had a great understanding of the platforms and reach that he has. He uses those platforms to preview fashion, music, furniture, and more while maintaining the sense of elusiveness and exclusivity that he maintained with all of his previous brands: SUPERFUN, PYREX, Been Trill and Off-White.

When the first images of Virgil’s Louis Vuitton sneaker design surfaced on social media through Louis Vuitton’s Instagram, it was clear that the upcoming Louis Vuitton sneaker was heavily inspired by some of Virgil’s favourite Air Jordan models, specifically the Air Jordan 3.

There’s a saying that fashion recycles itself very often and Virgil’s design was the embodiment of that saying as he seems to have drawn inspiration and taken hits from the iconic Air Jordan 3 model from 1988 and the lesser known Avia 880 from 1989. When looking at Virgil’s Louis Vuitton sneakers, it is clear that design elements from both models from the late 80s were applied to this modern silhouette.

Although the design was heavily reminiscent of other sneaker models, this is what people were expecting when Virgil started at Louis Vuitton. With his roots in Chicago, it’s good to see someone paying homage to their childhood and background in their design.
