Even if you haven’t quite finalized your New Year’s Eve plans just yet, the city of Toronto has just announced that the TTC will be free all night long.
All subways, streetcars, and buses will be totally free from 7:00 p.m. on December 31st to 7:00 a.m. on January 1st.
This is all to help counter any drunk/impaired driving that unfortunately tends to happen around this time. The free TTC also helps prevent the roads from being less packed than they need to be.
The last line 1 trains of the night will be leaving Union Station at 3:30 a.m. north to Finch Station, and 3:34 a.m. north to Vaughan Metropolitan Centre.
The last line 2 trains will leave from Bloor-Yonge Station at 3:37 a.m. heading westbound to Kipling Station and eastbound to Kennedy Station.

The tax-deductible Metropass will go the way of the dinosaurs next month with the TTC announcement of its termination. Presto monthly passes will take its place. Customers can purchase a TTC monthly pass or a 12-month Presto pass.
The transit commission’s website states that while Metropass will no longer be accepted after December 31, 2018, you can still buy tickets, tokens and TTC passes until December 31, 2019. The last day to buy tickets and tokens is August 3, 2019, but they will be valid until December 31, 2019. In June 2019, the TTC will introduce a Presto ticket for single use travel, and you will still be able to pay by cash.
The move is not unexpected. The TTC has been moving towards a fully cashless payment system for a while. Hardcore Metropass collectors will be sad to give up their rainbow plastic discs, but it will cut back on waste products. Presto cards users can use stickers to funk up their cards.

Vancouver transit riders will be treated to the voice of Seth Rogan as he was recently announced as the new public voice for Vancouver’s TransLink. Toronto looks like it wants to follow suit as reports are being released that Mr Rogan will also voice the TTC transit system.
If you believe the TTC’s Brad Ross’ latest tweet it looks very likely that the Vancouver born funny-man will be heard on Toronto subways.
What is fellow Canadian and public transit user @Sethrogen doing posing for a selfie with me – in a #TTC Bloor-Yonge ball cap, no less? Stay tuned! pic.twitter.com/eccCNkmkrT

While there is visual evidence, it’s still unclear how Rogan will be involved with the TTC.
People have begun to question why Rogan would be involved with the project. There are many Toronto celebrities that would make great voice actors for the TTC, with Drake being hailed as the fan favourite.

A video appeared on the popular website World Star Hip-Hop yesterday and it appears to show a crazy party taking place on the Scarborough RT – The light rail line three of the TTC.
While there are very little details of who actually put the party on, when you watch the video you’ll see pure madness with gawking onlookers who decided to record the event.
The mini club on the TTC had what appears to be bottle service, security and even a VIP section.
