Now that Netflix has increased their monthly rate, you might feel like you’re at the mercy of their unexpected price hikes. Luckily, Netflix isn’t your only option for watching your favourite movies and shows. There are several big players out there that offer the same service but with more selection and can still keep you on budget.

Crave TV

Thanks to Bell Media’s ownership of a staggering amount of networks and channels across Canada, CraveTV is a TV addict’s dream. Whether it’s comedy (Seinfeld), drama (HBO hits such as The Sopranos, Sex and the City and Entourage), action (Agents of Shield, Arrow) or science fiction, CraveTV has everything you’re looking for.

Shomi

Similar to Bell Media, Shomi has leveraged their streaming rights to most of their company’s over-the-air programming. Combining the collections of both Global and City, Shomi has a long list of well-known shows like Scandal, New Girl, Empire and Mad Dogs, not to mention FX Canada and Shaw specialty channel favourites. Like Netflix, Shomi is already in the midst of shooting their first House of Cards-type original series called “Between”.

With over 40,000 titles, including selections from the libraries of MGM, Lionsgate and Paramount Pictures, we think your biggest challenge will be deciding on what to watch first.

Of course, you’re not just limited to just these examples. The choices keep streaming in with many different types of genres that suite all ages and tastes.
