5 Great Spots to Celebrate 4/20 in Toronto

Just months away from the official legalization of marijuana in our home and native land, most of the dispensary regulars don’t need a reminder that 420 is just around the corner (then again, maybe they do).

Best of all, this year, the stoners’ favourite holiday happens to fall on a Friday, offering another dope reason to skip out of the office a little early and roll up some of that green goodness.

Here are the best places to celebrate 420 in Toronto – just remember to BYOP; nobody likes a mooch.

420 Toronto 2018

The annual all-day (10 am to 7 pm) festival of all things weed-related, relocates from Yonge-Dundas Square this year as Nathan Phillips Square goes up in smoke instead. Here, stoners of all ages will unite for the love of weed. You can expect stoner speakers, vendors, live music, food trucks, and the annual ceremonial blazing of a giant joint at 4:20.

Hot Box Café 420 Block Party

Longtime stoner hotspot, Kensington Market’s Hot Box Café, will once again provide an excuse to call in stoned – I mean, sick – to work with its annual all-day 420 party. Channel your inner bohemian at this event; you can expect cannabis-infused “potails,” a joint rolling competition, shatter shots, and no shortage of “characters” to help your people watching cause.

Trinity Bellwoods Park

Stop by your local dispensary, load up on greens, and hit Trinity Bellwoods Park for an unofficial gathering of Toronto’s young stoner set. Providing the weather is nice (fingers crossed), here, you’ll find groups of people lighting up, likely a few inevitable guitar players, and portable speakers playing stoner sounds. Just don’t forget your blanket – and the snacks.

Yongesterdam 420 Jam

The only thing better than quality live comedy is watching it when you’re stoned. Yongesterdam Lounge is back to host its 420 comedy night, dishing up no shortage of LOLs to mark the day of weed. Comedians include Zoe Brownstone, Dave Martin, Rebecca Reeds and headliner Ali Hassan. As an added bonus, guests can enjoy a pre-show reiki healing session for $5 (from 3 pm to 6 pm).

Ganja Yoga

For many weed-lovers, yoga and pot are synonymous – many yogis swear by a pre-yoga blaze session, either solo or as part of the group practice. All 420 weekend long, hit The House of Yoga to mark 420 with some THC-filled downward dogs. Here, you’ll find a ganja session (BYOP), music, and yoga, with different events throughout the weekend.
