Home assistant devices really took off in 2017. With Google and Amazon going head to head, everyone was wondering when Apple would officially enter the ring with their own version dubbed the HomePod.
According to Bloomberg, since it’s release, the sales of the HomePod have been lacklustre at best. The HomePod has just reached the sales levels industry experts and Apple predicted. Reportedly some Apple stores have been selling as little as 10 devices a day.
Not only is Apple’s HomePod not doing that great, neither is Google Home. According to Bloomberg in the first 10 weeks of the Apple HomePod on the market, it earned just 10% of the home smart speaker market, where Amazon’s Echo secures 73% of the market, and Google Home only holds a 14% market share.
The reason’s for Apple HomePod’s poor performance is pretty obvious. At the end of the day, it has the least amount of features compared to Amazon and Google’s products and it’s by far the most expensive. Furthermore, the Apple device only works with Apple-approved apps making it even less attractive.
