The Kardashians’ Hairstylist Shares 5 Pro-Tips for Perfect Locks
You may not know him by name, but surely you know his work. Andrew Fitzsimons, a 22-year-old Scottish born hair stylist, is the hair genius behind beauty icons like the Kardashians, Karlie Kloss, Ashley Graham, et al. Recently at an event thrown by Alterna Haircare, I got to catch up with Andrew and watch him at work. Here are the top 5 hair care tips from the hair god himself.
Rock the Baby Hairs
We’ve all been there, over-straightening and playing with those annoying baby hairs we can’t seem to outgrow. Luckily, Andrew’s take on baby hairs might relieve you. His tip; they’re not going anywhere, so rock them! And if you really can’t let it go, he recommends blending them by adding some volume to the front of your hair (and if it’s in a ponytail, purposely pull out some extra pieces to make it messy). If you need some help getting that extra bounce, try Alterna Haircare’s eco-friendly Bamboo Volume line.
Flat Iron With a Comb
You may have been straightening your hair wrong this whole time. The right way? Brush small parts of hair with a comb and follow the comb with a flatiron. This way, each strand of hair straightens so you can get that sleek Jennifer Aniston 90’s look.
Super Long Hair Is Out
Everyone had a friend who’s been trying to grow their hair for as long as you can remember. Luckily for them, they can stop stressing. Short hair is in and it’s easier to style, too. Have your friend cut off all their dead ends and refresh their look with Andrew’s favourite new hairstyle, the Lob.
Oil in Spray Bottles
Unless you’ve been sleeping under rock this past year, you know hair oil is in. Problem is, when used wrong, it can make you look like you haven’t showered. Andrew swears by Kendi Dry Oil Mix by Alterna Haircare. Unlike most hair oil’s, it comes in a spray bottle and distributes the oil in a mist form so that no one spot gets over drenched. Recommended for any hair type and a perfect way to get rid of those annoying flyaways and add a bit of sexiness to your look.
Use Heat Protection
The best way to healthy looking hair is to use protection. Whether you plan to use heat products or quickly tie your hair up in a ponytail, using a hair protector is a necessity. Alterna Haircare’s Caviar CC Cream will protect your hair from outside elements, like heat and pollution, while giving you that extra moisture and shine your hair needs.
