Just like it was on New Year’s Eve, it’s just been announced that part of the TTC will be free on March 17 aka St. Patrick’s Day.

The TTC has confirmed that just like in previous years, the King and Queen streetcars will be free of charge.

“Cheers to free rides on the 501 Queen and 504 King routes on March 17 from 7 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.,” says the TTC’s website. “Thank you to our friends at Jameson Whiskey for providing Torontonians with safe rides to and from their St. Patrick’s Day festivities.”

That means no Presto card taps are necessary aboard the 501 and 504 streetcar routes all day long.

“PRESTO card readers on these routes will be covered and signs will be placed on fare machines. Customers connecting to the subway or another route from the 501 or 504 must pay their fare when entering or boarding at their transfer point and ensure they take a paper transfer from the Fares and Transfers Machine on the streetcar or from the transfer machine in the subway station,” said the TTC.

Even if you’re not heading to any St. Patrick’s Day festivities, it’s still nice to know that you can ride these two streetcar routes for free all day.
