Catherine Addai has turned a dream into a reality with her brand Kaela Kay.

After quitting her corporate career in 2017 to focus on Kaela Kay, she was committed to creating a brand with a distinct identity, recognition of culture, and customer loyalty.

The designs at Kaela Kay are the embodiment of Addai's Ghanaian roots. There is an emphasis on colours and prints, as she uses Ankara textiles, which represent Africa. However, she also incorporates her North American upbringing with designs that are feminine and classic.

There is also one thing Kaela Kay has that most brands lack— versatility and practicality!

That's right! Addai is a huge fan of two-piece outfits that can be mixed and matched, creating up to three unique looks with one outfit. There is also a wide selection of jumpsuits, dresses, jackets, tops, pants, accessories, and so much more. Kaela Kay also does custom pieces — what better way to make a bold fashion statement for your next special occasion?

Additionally, Addai seeks to help women identify their personal style — regardless of size. The inclusivity is clear in the sizing of the brand which goes up to US22, while custom designs can be made for any shape!

"I want all women to identify their personal style in their fabulous size. For this reason, Kaela Kay stocks up to size US22 and will custom design for any fabulous size"

— Catherine Addai

Kaela Kay clothing is produced in Toronto by local seamstresses, so you are not only supporting a talented independent designer but talented seamstresses in the community. Addai works closely with the seamstresses to create well-made and well-fitting styles.

The fabulous designs of Kaela Kay have not gone unnoticed. The brand has gained recognition in the black community as well as mainstream platforms like Flare Magazine.

Due to current events and the COVID-19, the brand has also started producing face masks, made with 100% cotton. You can shop face masks and the entire collection online.

If you share in Kaela Kay's motto, "life's too short to wear boring clothes," this is the brand for you!
