The start of a new season is always a great reason to give yourself a reset. So what better time to give your skin some TLC or even to get that procedure you’ve been wanting, than right now? We visited FORM Face + Body to do just that.
When we first got to the clinic, we were greeted by Dr. Somogyi, who gave us a wonderful tour of the space.
He made it very clear that the approach of FORM Face + Body is putting the patient first, from the beginning to the end. The staff prides themselves in taking the time to understand each patient’s goals, putting together a treatment and aftercare plan, and even more.
From the second we walked in, we could definitely tell that this was the case. Everyone made us feel so comfortable and made sure we fully understood each treatment that we were interested in before fully committing. Also, any type of treatment or procedure you want, either Dr. Somogyi or Dr. Jalil will be involved, so you can feel even more confident in making the right decision for your face or body.
The invasive includes breast surgery, facial surgery, and body contouring, and the non-invasive are Botox® and Dysport®, skin resurfacing, dermal fillers, laser hair removal, microneedling, the list goes on!
After scoping out the entire place, we were passed off to Megan, who is the Aesthetic and Surgical Care Nurse, as we were interested in receiving a non-invasive treatment today. Megan guided us through the process thoroughly, taking our medical history and tracking any important information. She kindly answered all of our questions, and believe us, we most certainly had a lot!
Both processes were such a breeze and overall a great experience. It was actually quite interesting to learn about microneedling, as neither of us was familiar with it—get ready for a refreshed and glowy face in just 3 days!
Plus, an exciting thing to note is the VIP card! Once you hit $1,000 of spending on non-surgical treatments you actually can get 10% off future non-surgical treatments for one year—now that’s a reward we can get behind! Surgical patients also receive an Aesthetic benefit card with certain incentives as well, so there’s something for everyone.

There will also be a handful of classes offered, plus, a breathwork app that you can download so you can get the full experience. If you’re interested, an introductory pass, which is equal to three visits, is $99.

It’s safe to say that after months of quarantine, we could all very much use a spa day. If you agree, then keep on reading. Iconic French skincare brand Caudalie has just opened the doors to its first flagship boutique spa in Canada and it’s located right here in Toronto.
Caudalie’s co-founder Mathilde Thomas told FASHION Magazine, “Opening a flagship location in Toronto is an important milestone for Caudalie, one that we’ve been looking forward to for a while. The history, culture and energy of Toronto excited us to connect with this beautiful city, share our brand story and immerse Toronto into the DNA of Caudalie.”
Even though Toronto and the GTA is still in Phase 2 of reopening, the spa is open for body treatments. Facials and other spa services will have to hold off until Phase 3.
The spa has made masks for all clients and staff mandatory during all treatments and has social distancing protocols in place as well.
The brand also has sustainability on its radar as well because it’s partnered with TerraCycle to recycle empty products and reduce waste.

Toronto is not lacking in spas, but more often than not, treating ourselves to a facial sets costs an arm and a leg. Luckily, I was able to experience an affordable yet effective Detox Facial at the Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa at Don Mills.
To start, my experience was met with a warm smile and an offering of delicious cucumber-infused water. The ambience was relaxed, the music was soothing and the team of welcoming staff members were nothing short of fantastic, including owner Walter Cheung and esthetician Christina Anderson. Once I filled out my form detailing my complexion concerns, I was ushered down a hallway that smelled like a bouquet of relaxing essential oils.
Once I was in the assigned spa room, Christina went over the docket and my described skin concerns. I slipped into my lush robe and waited for my skin analysis. Under a lens, she was able to determine the good, the bad and the downright ugly. I was clearly very guilty of neglecting my daily SPF routine. Once the treatment started, my skin was buffed and slathered with a slew of clearing and cleansing products. This particular detox facial encourages the skin to purge all the while purifying and rebuilding the texture. It’s recommended to have a facial once a month – if your budget allows for it – as our skin naturally turns over every 28 days.
Immediately after my treatment, I noticed that my skin was glowing and the texture looked and felt soft and smooth. 24-hours after my treatment I noticed a difference in my complexion, and I’ve personally vowed to stay committed not only to the facial but Christina’s SPF advice.
The Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa experience has a variety of treatments to choose from, and not just for the problematic skin. From their Rejuvenating Facial which diminishes the appearance of fine lines to their Sensitive Skin Facial, which helps to restore the skin’s pH balance, there’s something for everyone. The centre also offers microdermabrasion, a non-invasive and non-surgical procedure to remove dull and lifeless skin, as well as active peels and an LED Skin Phototherapy treatment.

Beyond the amazing treatments, the spa is also committed to carrying luxurious products that are backed by science and deliver on their promises. Included is Dermalogica and Diego Dalla Palma. So if you’re looking to treat your glow to a truly fantastic and affordable facial that’s uncompromising in its pursuit of perfection, the Hand & Stone Spa will be all that and then some.
The Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa is located at 895 Lawrence Avenue East, Unit 4 North York, Ontario.

While our underarms are often overlooked and downright despised, we should be doing more for these neglected bits.
The majority of us probably purchase a strawberry scented stick or baby scented aerosol that many scientists urge against. While no leading studies have conclusively determined that there’s a direct link between applying aluminum to our underarms – a common ingredient found in deodorant — it can get absorbed into the breast tissue causing estrogen-like effects. If that’s not scary enough, the parabens found in our leading deodorant brands can also imitate the activity of natural estrogen found in our bodies.
While they might smell nice, prevent odours and cost less than our morning latte, they’re really bad for our bodies. There are lymph nodes inside our underarms that produce particles that protect us from toxins and the like, but by allowing aluminum in, they have to work harder. This means these heroic little saviours have to work overtime to banish diet missteps, environmental damage and more.
Enter natural deodorants. They might not smell good, they definitely cost more, but they ultimately don’t hurt us.
Say goodbye to unhealthy ingredients and hello to Lavanila. This detox mask promises to deliver body odour banishing goodness, all the while protecting us from harm. The only downside next to the steep price is the time it can take to start working. It’s said that a natural deodorant can take up to a month for the odour banishers to start working. So, maybe, just maybe, you could potentially stink for 30 days, but you won’t be slowly hurting yourself with a simple stick of deodorant.
This revolutionary detoxifying mask was created by an active woman that understands we can’t all wait 30 days to not smell, so the product is infused with bacteria balancing ingredients. Included is a powerful concoction that acts as a magnet to bring harmful dirt, bacteria and of course, aluminum to the surface. Simply work the product onto your underarm with the provided brush and let it sit for ten minutes. This brightening and odour banishing product will ensure you’re glowing – and less smelly – from the inside out. The average price of the mask is $26, five per cent of which will go to Breast Cancer Awareness.
It’s time to make the switch from your stick. Your body will seriously thank you.
