She also expressed how important it is to her to be able to come back and know the changes she’s made and acknowledge the changes that she still wants to see. It’s no secret how cutthroat the fashion and beauty industry can be in terms of inclusivity. Although waves are being made, and we are seeing more diversity and inclusion, thanks to trailblazers like Winnie Harlow, it’s still crucial for brands to understand the importance of representation.
She shared with us, “I didn’t get to see myself on anything represented. I didn’t see myself on covers, on billboards, as businesswomen…” and explains that her hope is that in everything she does, from covers, to runways, to campaigns, allows people to see themselves and know that they can do it as well.
Harlow has definitely put her mark on the fashion and beauty industry over the years, beginning as a contestant on America’s Next Top Model to famously being the first model with vitiligo to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

The first Monday in May just passed, AKA the Met Gala. This year’s Met Gala theme was honouring the legacy of the late Fashion Designer and Creative Director, Karl Lagerfeld, with the title “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty”. The gala is hosted by Vogue, at none other than the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, as a fundraiser for the museum as well as to celebrate the opening of its annual fashion exhibition. Every year, A-listers walk the red carpet and up the Met steps dressed to the nines in accordance with the theme (albeit, sometimes very loosely).

Last night, some of Hollywood’s greatest in film and TV got all dressed up to attend the annual Golden Globes! And as entertaining as it is watching the recipients receive their awards, we can’t help but focus our attention and admire all of the looks that graced our screens! There were so many amazing ensembles that it was hard to narrow down our favourite top 10, yet somehow we managed.
Wednesday star Jenna Ortega wore a gorgeous dress by Gucci. The silhouette is stunning, draped perfectly on her – plus it’s nice to see her wearing some colour!
We will never get enough of Billy Porter’s red carpet-looks. Last night he wore a head-turning fuchsia-pink, velvet tuxedo dress by Christian Siriano.
Jessica Chastain wore a sparkle-filled Oscar de la Renta gown almost reminiscent of a spider web, in the chicest way possible.
Rihanna looked absolutely stunning at the awards last night; we would expect nothing less. She wore a custom Schiaparelli gown which included a voluptuous velvet cape and gloves.
The men were absolutely killing it last night, too! Tyler James Williams sported a stylized AMIRI suit featuring a tie-dye-esque print and a cropped blazer coat.
Anya Taylor Joy has a knack for making absolutely everything she puts on look ethereal, and last night’s look was no exception. She wore a 2-piece yellow set by Dior and looked effortlessly elegant.
Sparkles and voluminous details seemed to be a recurring theme last night, and this Christian Siriano gown worn by Nicole Byer is serving both! The matches opera gloves were the perfect finishing touch.
Percy Hynes White strayed away from the simple classic suit and wore a Saint Laurent suit with a little more interest! The suit featured a caped blazer and a semi-sheer knit underneath. The overall styling of this look made it stand apart from the rest for us!
This studded Louis Vuitton look worn by Ana de Armas is everything! Everything about this look is perfection in our opinion. From the dramatic square neckline to the stud panel details, to the pleats in the skirt portion of the dress *chefs kiss*.
Of course, we can’t leave out Selena Gomez’s look! She wore a deep purple Valentino Haute Couture design featuring a velvet gown and dramatic drop-puff sleeves which appeared to have their very own trains!

Iconic celeb, Lizzo, just announced that she’s officially dropping a shapewear line, and we already have a feeling it’s going to go viral.
And of course, everyone went wild.
She wrote in the caption, “This is a dream 5 years in the making…. Introducing @YITTY: Shapewear you can wear Underwear, Overwear, Anywhere. For Every Damn Body. 6X to XS…”
A lot of people took to the comments to note that 6X was written before XS, which typically it’s the other way around. Naturally, the queen herself replied on Tiktok, stating that this is no coincidence, meaning that this line was created with inclusivity at the forefront.
It’s actually pretty cool to see a major name in pop culture making moves to create inclusive pieces in the fashion industry.
