Mango is known for its minimalistic, yet trendy items that are averagely priced. If you’ve never heard of or seen the brand before, you can pretty much compare it to a Zara.
Retail Insider has also stated that Mango has wanted to enter Canada for quite some time now and has finally partnered with Fox Group to make it happen.

Through the past couple of years, we’ve seen many brands, both big and small, shutter doors. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to beloved labels, but on the flip side, there are actually a bunch of brands that have expanded. Whether that may be a larger online presence or entering Canada for the very first time, we are welcoming these brands’ expansion plans with open arms!
According to Retail Insider, sources have revealed to them that Alo Yoga will be opening up its very own flagship store at 60 Bloor Street West. This expansion for Alo Yoga is huge. It will be the very first time that the brand is opening up its very own store in Canada. Acne Studios is going to have its very first Canadian physical store in Toronto. Retail Insider says it will make its mark right in Yorkdale Mall in the luxury wing this Spring. The brand currently operates locations all across the world which include stores in the UK, China, Belgium, Australia, USA, the Middle East, and more.
Finally, we can now visit a Carlo’s Bake Shop location in Canada! The beloved Cake Boss bakery opened its very first Canadian location. Originally supposed to open last spring, the new Carlo’s Bake Shop is situated at 167 Lakeshore Road West in Port Credit. Canadians got their first taste of Cake Boss when Carlo’s Bakery began offering delivery in June 2020, as well as a handful of ‘Cake Boss’ ATMs that popped up in Toronto and Mississauga. Plus, the first downtown location will open this summer 2022 at 24 Bellair Street in Yorkville.
As of February 11th, the highly anticipated downtown Toronto Chick-fil-A location is open! You can now head on over to 336 Queen Street West for some delicious chicken and waffle fries. Ganni will enter Canada with the physical store for the first time this year and is headed for Yorkdale Mall. Giant Tiger is now among the list of brands that have decided to expand its physical locations throughout Canada.
Giant Tiger is very well-known in Canada for its low prices on clothing, food, footwear, housewares, toys—basically everything you could need. Since the chain does sell groceries, it’s been allowed to keep stores open during the pandemic. This meant incoming revenue at a time where other retailers weren’t so fortunate.
The site also gives the option to either pick up purchases at your local Giant Tiger or get at-home delivery. In addition, the retailer recently opened a distribution center in Johnstown, Ontario, to fulfill online orders.
Store locations and specific dates have yet to be released, but we can expect some new Giant Tiger stores to pop-up soon!

For the new launch, SSENSE has combined both established and emerging brands in Everything Else to create a large variety of product options and price ranges.
The products are gender-neutral and range from about $30 to $3,100. There are over 90 brands that are included in this section which includes Bloc Studios, Bottega Venta, Carne Bollente, Kenzo, Maison Margiela, Versace, and Aesop.

While U.S. retailers in Canada close up shop, popular Japanese retailers UNIQLO and Muji surge ahead. Just over the weekend, Uniqlo opened its second location in suburban Vancouver, and Muji opened its fifth store in the GTA. Moreover, both chains are committed to opening additional stores in Canada.
In 2016, Uniqlo opened its first Canadian store, 33,400 square feet, at the Eaton Centre in Toronto. Its second store, 30,000 square feet, opened one month later at Yorkdale Shopping Centre. A third store in the GTA will open shortly. Its new store in the Vancouver area a 12,800 square foot space in Surrey, opened last Friday. Even though Uniqlo had just opened a 20,630 square foot space in nearby Burnaby in October 2017, there were still huge lineups to get in. This spring, the company will open a third store in the Vancouver area at CF Richmond Centre. According to Uniqlo Founder and CEO Tadashi Yanai, Uniqlo is planning to open some 100 stores in Canada.
Muji’s largest store in the GTA, at 6,800 square feet, opened at Scarborough Town Centre on Saturday. Their store in downtown Toronto has temporarily relocated but will expand to the size of its flagship Vancouver store, which opened in December. According to Muji’s Canadian President, Toru Akita, Muji expects to operate between 15 and 20 stores in Canada by 2020, including stores beyond the Toronto and Vancouver areas, including Montreal.
Other Japanese retailers are expected to enter the Canadian market, including Japanese footwear brand ASICS, which opened its Canadian flagship store on Queen Street West in Toronto. More ASICS stores are expected to follow. In addition, variety retailer Miniso plans to open 500 stores in Canada, and another Japanese footwear brand will open soon. This is all happening as Canadian retailers face reduced sales with this new competition. While it appears that leasing retail space is difficult in Canada, some brands still plans to expand their presence.
