Fall is around the corner, and as summer nears an end, we can’t help but get excited about all things autumn! Especially decor-wise. If you’ve been in to HomeSense lately, you’ve probably noticed that the fall decor has started rolling out. So, we decided to head over to our local HomeSense and check out the options, and do some shopping to get our homes ready for fall!

Seasonal floral arrangements are always a nice touch to add to your space to add an essence of the current season. They can easily be switched out and reused over and over as the seasons change, too! HomeSense had so many fall-themed faux floral arrangements, already pre-styled in a vase for extra ease.

Another thing you can easily switch up season to season is your door wreath! Whether you live in an apartment or house, having a wreath up shouldn’t be overlooked! It’s the first thing you see before when you’re about to enter your home, after all. We loved the selection of fall wreaths that HomeSense had to offer, this orange foliage one being our first pick. It’s just so warm and welcoming!

A running theme while looking through the decor section at HomeSense was an overwhelming amount of pumpkins. From glass, to plush and everything in between – the store had it. We were loving the classy look of the glass ones. They would look so cute styled on a coffee table!

What’s more rutstic and fall-themed than wheat bundles? They could be placed in a doorway, corner, or wherever your heart desires. HomeSense had a few different colour variations of wheat bundles including orange, green, and brown.

Fall-scented candles are the ultimate fall-decor item if you ask us. Not only do they look cute placed on a table or tray, they add a fall scent to your home, which is absolutely essential if you want your home to feel like autumn! It’s kind of the best part of fall, no?

HomeSense had no shortage of options when it came to throw pillows of all colours and designs, including some fall-themed options like this maple-leaf one. We love how subtle it is, due to having a neutral colour-way, but still has that fall essence with the leaves.

Functional decor is elite, and HomeSense got the memo. There was a variety of options of various fall-esque kitchen towels that you can have draped on your oven door handle to add a touch of autumn to your kitchen. It’s another easy decor item that’s easy to switch out as the seasons change!
Head over to your local HomeSense to get an early taste of fall this year!

We love supporting small businesses, especially those run by women. We found these businesses on The Pink Pages Directory for Run The World Summit, a women’s networking event held monthly at the Ritz Carlton in Toronto (Check out our page on it here!)
Run The World Summit helps to empower and bring together women by helping them network. Having (other female) connections can help when it comes to business advice or “knowing someone in the industry” that you can rely on. We’ve had the pleasure of meeting some of these women and/or trying their products, and here are some of our faves!
Oana Badiceanu is the founder of HoneyLux, an environmentally conscious and Canadian female-run business. She sells luxury silk as well as other goodies at an affordable price. We love the leopard premium silk scrunchie available here.
Nipsey Daisy is run by two Canadian sisters – we’ve actually tried their body tape and we love it. It’s hard to find tape that can actually provide support, but their 4” wide tape does the trick. We also love their silicone nipple covers that are totally invisible through your shirt.
Oge Ahanotu is a mom to a daughter and a dog, and she’s an entrepreneur. Her Jewelry is cool and glamorous, and won’t break the bank. We love the double-sided pendant necklace found here.
Arkaeology Studio is a new brand and currently has a limited run of beautiful hand-made bags to shop! Its Toppa Bag is perfect for travel (and could even double as a pillow on the go thanks to its puffer-quilting)! We also love its Mini Puffer Handbags for day-to-day. We can’t wait to watch this brand flourish and grow!
Corinne Haddad created this brand that focuses on inclusivity and diversity – she uses her visually impaired mother Amal as one of her models. We love her skin dew highlighters for that glowy summer look.
Not sure what to get your teacher or mother-in-law for their birthday? Ilona Spirina at Silk & Twine creates the most gorgeous gift boxes. Every product inside is high quality and thoughtfully sourced, and the company itself is women-run and self-funded. We think the Birthday Box is adorable.
Toronto-based Natalie Czerwinski offers a ton of beautiful prints on her Etsy, including illustrations of familiar Toronto spots! She also offers custom illustrations if you want something more personalized – like an illustration of your home for example.
Olaeda is a Toronto jewellery brand in which its jewellery is hand-made with 14k gold-filled or solid gold. The pieces are never plated and are made to last. Its pricing is also extremely fair, for high-end jewellery! We are loving this Diamond Heart Locket.
Last but not least, you may have heard of this one as it’s another Toronto local brand, THIC. THIC Studio is a hair salon that also has a limited product line, THIC. The brand recently came out with its own shampoo and conditioner (which we’ve tried and loved), and its Daily Hair Perfecting Oil is a crowd favourite totally worth trying.

Attention shoppers, good news is coming your way! HomeSense, Winners, and Marshalls have all opened their storefront doors in select Ontario locations.
This means that customers can visit the discount shops once again to score the awesome deals that we all know and love.

In some locations, the company is offering a virtual lineup open where shoppers scan a code to get notified when it’s their turn to browse the racks. How convenient is that?
There are still many safety rules in place and only a limited number of customers are allowed inside at once.

At StyleDemocracy, we know shopping! We deliver the scoop on all things retail related including how to get the best value at your favourite stores and online retailers. Hidden offerings, insider secrets and the ultimate savings… we’ve rounded up the things every HomeSense shopper needs to know. Keep reading for the top tips for shopping at HomeSense.
Looking for the latest and greatest inventory at HomeSense? Ask a store associate which day of the week their location receives new shipments and plan your next shopping trip accordingly. Most staff will be happy to share with you their store’s delivery days as well as which day of the week they mark down the prices on older inventory.
No two HomeSense locations are alike. We’ve rounded up the top 5 HomeSense locations to shop from across the GTA for the best inventory selection and service.
The inventory at HomeSense is always changing. The stores typically get several deliveries a week, which means more goodies for you to browse through!
What you see is what you get. At HomeSense there are no stock rooms for excess inventory, so if you can’t find sizes or other options on the floor, unfortunately, that’s all that hey have. But since the inventory is so plentiful and such a variety, you’re sure to find items you love regardless.
Still can’t find the product you’re looking for? Don’t forget to check out TJX sister brands Winners and Marshalls for hearty selections of off-price home decor. Both stores have sizeable home furnishings departments with overlapping items also sold at HomeSense.
HomeSense offers a generous 30 day return policy for members of the TJX Canada Style+ loyalty program. If rushing back to a HomeSense location for a return isn’t convenient, you can always head over to sister stores Winners or Marshalls, who will gladly accept returns of HomeSense merchandise.
No access to a vehicle? Most HomeSense locations partner with a local delivery service to make getting items to your home easier. Fees start at $45 and are coordinated with the delivery service directly, not HomeSense.
HomeSense makes getting the right size easy! We love the handy paper measuring tapes hanging throughout the store. Grab one to make measuring easy and take tons of photos of an item to bring home and determine if an item will work within your space.
One of the best departments at HomeSense is the seasonal items. There’s always a ton of choices at really great prices. So be sure to head out to your favourite HomeSense and check it out each season for some awesome decor.
When shopping at discount department stores like HomeSense, it’s safe to say that if you see an item you like, grab it before someone else does. We’ve made several trips to HomeSense in the hopes of picking up that one item that we saw that one time and never purchased… Take it from StyleDemocracy, buyer’s remorse is always safer than buyer’s regret!
We love spotting those little red stickers on items. For the best deals at HomeSense, check the back of each aisle for a ton of discounted merchandise. See an item with a damage that you feel should be on clearance? Don’t be afraid to ask a store associate. They will likely be happy to mark down an item for you on the spot if there is an irreparable damage.
Gift giving made easy! We are suckers for all of the items lining the checkout lines at HomeSense. If you’re in need of a last-minute holiday or housewarming gift, here’s where you need to start looking. Find the cutest candles, glasses and kitchen towels – the perfect little addition to a nice bottle of wine!
HomeSense is constantly running contests on social media to give away gift cards. Entering to win is easy – just a post a photo on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram of your most recent HomeSense purchase and tag your photo with the hashtag #MyHomeSense. Regardless if there is an active contest at the time, publishing your photo on social media will prep your entry for when the contest period opens up again.

As we ease into the new normal during the global pandemic, many of the things we used to do are looking a lot different. In retail, we’ve seen a shift in online shopping and many retailers have announced the closures of physical locations.
The stores that have reopened have new protocols in place to ensure the safety of employees and shoppers. Among some of the changes, there are more lineups, markers for social distancing, limits in-stores, and a lot of cleaning. It’s just the price we have to pay for the shopping experience we’ve missed over the past few months. But one thing we’ve been particularly interested in is how retailers are now handling store returns and exchanges.

For purchases made online between February 1, 2020 and May 1, 2020, the return period has been extended to July 1. Items that are returned will be put into a 24-hour quarantine. Afterward, the items will be sanitized and put back into inventory. As per usual, items such as earrings, jewellery, and insoles are final sale.

Like Aldo Shoes, all three TJX brands — WINNERS, Marshalls, and HomeSense — will be setting aside return merchandise for 24-hours, unless otherwise mandated by a province, before making it available for customers to purchase.

In a statement to Narcity, H&M said that returns will be isolated for 24-hours before it’s placed back onto the sales floor for purchase. In addition, H&M has extended its store return policy for online purchases from 30 days to 90 days, and in-store sale items, which were originally final sale, are now eligible for exchanges.

Saks Fifth Avenue is taking a four-part approach to reopening its Canadian locations, which includes new protocols for how returns are handled. During this time, Saks is putting its returns in isolation for a period of 48-hours. The luxury retailer is also offering curbside returns and a dedicated sales desk on the stores’ main floors.

While stores across Canada have been closed due to the global health crisis, retailers across the country have slowly been reopening in accordance with government regulations.
Currently, TJX has reopened stores in Alberta, PEI, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, and Ontario, Nova Scotia, and Quebec are next on the list. According to the retailer’s websites, stores across these three provinces are slated to reopen on Wednesday, May 27.

While non-essential businesses remain closed across Canada, many retailers and restaurants have been pivoting strategies to adjust to the new normal. For some businesses, this has meant offering alcohol sales, building online stores, or offering free shipping to entice shoppers. And for others, it means focusing on what happens when stores are allowed to reopen.
TJX is the company behind WINNERS, Marshalls, and HomeSense, and its locations and warehouses across nine countries have remained closed since the mandatory government shutdowns. But the TJX team hasn’t been sitting idle — they’ve been thinking about what the shopping experience at stores will look like once reopened.

“No matter where people live in the world, we want our associates and customers to feel confident when they come back to work or shop in our stores,” Herrman said in a letter. Noting that the team has been highly focused on how to operate more safely in the future.
For team members, this includes newly established health protocols, providing personal protective equipment, and implementing social distancing practices. For shoppers, Plexiglas partitions will be installed near cashiers and social distancing markers in queue lines. Shoppers can also expect new processes for handling merchandise returns and enhanced cleaning regiments. As the TJX team returns to distribution centres, there will be new safety protocols to protect the workers’ health as well.
But we can be sure that when they do open, WINNERS, Marshalls, and HomeSense will be prioritizing the health of its staff and customers. If you’ve been missing these stores, be sure to keep your eye on the TJX website for store updates.

The holidays are supposed to be filled with cheer, family, and friends, but oftentimes, the task of finding the perfect gifts for everyone on your list can make things stressful. Shopping doesn’t have to be anxiety-inducing, though. In fact, it can be pretty darn easy, even if you hate shopping — you just have to know where to shop.
Case-in-point: Heartland Town Centre.
There are two WINNERS stores, a HomeSense, and a Marshalls all within five minutes of each other — and all with plenty of parking. So, if you’re looking to knock out your holiday shopping all in one go, look no further than these four stores.
From presents that’ll suit anyone of any age or interest, to wrapping paper and gift cards, and even treats for your holiday parties, shopping at the Heartland Town Centre WINNERS, HomeSense, and Marshalls is a no-brainer. With so many unique items to choose from at such great prices, you can’t wait when you find something great because the next day it might be gone! It’s like a treasure hunt at each store – and that’s the magic of it all!

Is there anything cuter than a family that matches? We don’t think so! Take #FamilyGoals to the next level with matching holiday pajamas. At the WINNERS at Mavis and Matheson, we found sets made for matching, but you can get creative and browse through the racks for different colour schemes and styles. The sleepwear selections at the Heartland Town Centre WINNERS and Marshalls can’t be beat, and if you can’t find what you’re looking for at one store, you’re sure to find it at the next.

Baby, it’s cold outside! And the perfect way to stay warm over the winter is with a big, cozy sweater. Both WINNERS stores and the Marshalls at Heartland Town Centre have a stellar selection of cozy sweaters from top name brands your giftee is sure to love, at prices you (and your wallet) will love, too.
Pro tip: Hit up all three brands and visit often — new items are always arriving, so you never know what gems you’ll be able to find.

Know someone who’s on #TeamCozy? A throw blanket is the perfect gift because you can never have too many. Of the four stores that we visited, HomeSense definitely had the largest selection. From fuzzy textures and classic tartans, to perfectly packed cable knit throws, your giftee will love snuggling up with whatever you choose.

Bags and accessories are a great gift to give someone who already has great style. Small items like wallets, gloves, hats, and scarves make the perfect stocking stuffers, and WINNERS and Marshalls have a huge selection to browse for both men and women.
Pro tip: WINNERS, HomeSense, and Marshalls all offer the option to choose a gift receipt with your purchase, which is a great way to ensure your giftee ends up with something they love. Make sure to grab one as you check out. That way, they can get a store credit or exchange their gift if it’s not quite their style.

Games are the gift that keeps on giving, and every time your giftee plays, they’ll think of you! At HomeSense, we spotted some awesome game sets that’ll add just the right amount of fun to anyone on your shopping list’s life. For board game aficionados, keep an eye out for classic games that double as home decor, or spoil your loved ones with trivia, memory, or guessing games — the options are endless!

Nothing makes you want to be a kid again more than browsing the toy aisles at WINNERS, HomeSense, and Marshalls. All four of the stores at Heartland Town Centre have a great selection of cool kids’ gift ideas; we’re talking giant stuffed animals, child-sized cars, child-sized kitchens, trucks, dolls, and more. The hard part about shopping for your kiddos at WINNERS, HomeSense, and Marshalls won’t be finding the perfect gift — it’ll be stopping at just one!

Nobody said gifting was easy — in fact, it’s probably one of the harder things to do. But WINNERS, HomeSense, and Marshalls make things a little less stressful with their selection of beautiful gift baskets. You can find full sections of each store dedicated to these baskets, which come in different price ranges and sizes, and are filled to the brim with the best holiday goodies — think chocolates, cookies, mugs, and more. Because they’re so easy to grab and go, we suggest ditching the wine and making this your go-to host/hostess gift instead.

If you’re looking for a store with the widest selection of top beauty products, we suggest checking out the new WINNERS at Mavis and Britannia, which features an expanded beauty section. Whatever you choose to pick up — whether it’s a palette, lip gloss set, skincare, or haircare — it’s sure to make your beauty-lover swoon. The best part? You can score brand names that impress for a fraction of the regular retail price.

While you’re in the beauty section, be sure to check out all of the beauty tools that WINNERS and Marshalls have in store. These bigger-ticket items are super affordable and well worth the purchase, especially if someone on your list is truly beauty-obsessed. We found vanity mirrors, beauty cases, and even the “it” item of 2019: the coveted beauty fridge. On top of that, curling irons, hair straighteners, and blow dryers are great choices, too. The selection is amazing – you’ll be sure to find every type of curling wand or iron, hair dryer, or hair straightener you can imagine!

A classic timepiece is a wardrobe staple, so if you’re looking to pick one up for someone on your list, WINNERS is a great place to start (and end) the hunt. Stop by the jewelry section at either WINNERS store at Heartland Town Centre to find perfectly packed designer watches in a variety of styles, all at incredible prices.

While you’re making your rounds, don’t forget to check out the food aisles. This is the best section for foodies, Secret Santa, and White Elephant gifts because everyone loves to eat. From giant jars of cookies and candy sets, to truffle oils and hot sauce samplers, we’d be surprised if you walked out empty-handed.

Another great gift for foodies? Serve and cookware! WINNERS, HomeSense, and Marshalls all have an amazing selection of brand name items — even the best of the best is affordable at these stores. Know a foodie or an at-home chef? A great platter or baking dish is the way to their heart. Gift one of these and you can definitely expect some delicious treats to make their way back as a thank you!

Is it just us or are stocking stuffers the funnest things to shop for? The WINNERS, HomeSense, and Marshalls at Heartland Town Centre make it particularly easy to fill up stockings with affordable giftables. You’ll find items like holiday-themed socks, pens, games, desk calendars, notebooks, teas, candy, mugs, water bottles, and so much more. While you can find great stocking stuffers in every corner of the store, the checkout aisle is the jackpot.
Pro tip: Don’t forget to pick up your holiday gift bags, wrapping paper, and cards in this same aisle!

Nothing pairs better with the holidays than a fun cocktail! All four stores we visited at Heartland Town Centre had an impressive assortment of bar accessories, but we particularly loved the selection that HomeSense boasted. Mixer and glass sets are the perfect addition to a bar aficionado’s collection, but you’ll also find cute wine tumblers and flasks that make great bar cart accessories!

You don’t have to spend a fortune to find a great pair of headphones — we found tons at all four stores. There were lots of different styles to choose from, so you’ll be able to find a pair that suits your giftee’s needs. But the tech gadgets and accessories don’t stop there — at WINNERS and Marshalls, we saw a huge variety of speakers, phone cases, and even a karaoke machine!

Last but not least are candles and diffusers. The wellness fanatic or decor enthusiast on your list is sure to appreciate the new, soothing scents you bring into their lives. However, if a diffuser is something your giftee already has in their home, just like throw blankets, we’re big believers that you can never have too many candles!

Let’s be real: nobody’s ever gotten mad about receiving a gift card. And the best part about receiving a gift card from WINNERS, HomeSense, and Marshalls is that it can be redeemed at any of the stores all across Canada. If you’re in a bind, a gift card is the quickest way to guarantee your giftee will get something that they love — and isn’t that the greatest gift of all?
Also, if you’re a registered STYLE+ member, don’t forget to enter your receipts online before December 27 for a chance to win your gifts!

Looking for cheap but chic home décor to fill your space? With what feels like a zillion locations across the GTA, HomeSense is a haven for trendy, designer home décor items for every room in your home, minus the hefty price tags! As the sister brand of Winners, HomeSense offers an identical “grab it before it’s gone” shopping experience with an ever changing inventory of furniture, cookware, lighting, and decorative accessories priced at 20-60% off department and specialty stores. With the merchandise mix of every HomeSense location being a bit of a lottery, we’ve done the research to bring you the best HomeSense locations across the GTA in order to maximize your time and savings while shopping!
This Etobicoke HomeSense store is in the vicinity of a slew of other home décor retailers. Our guess is that this Etobicoke HomeSense has really upped their inventory game in order to remain competitive with neighbouring décor retailers. We found this HomeSense store to be a hot spot for large, modern furniture pieces like dining room tables, nightstands, and armchairs. Act fast because although these larger items are heavy to transport back home, the “sold” pile of items by the entrance accumulates rather quickly!
Located just inside of Rockwood Mall, this Mississauga HomeSense location will blow you away with its huge selection of decorative wall pieces. Unique and modern picture frames, clocks, mirrors, and artwork spill over into multiple aisles, one with more selection than the next. We particularly loved this location for the amount of clearance merchandise at the back of each aisle. Each department from cookware to bathroom accessories had a minimum of two end caps worth of clearance décor items to shop from.

This west GTA HomeSense store is tucked away inside of Burlington Mall and is a gold mine for glassware, bowls, plates, and other kitchen knick-knacks. Bonus points to this store because it has a unique selection of stationary finds and paper products by the checkout. The shelves of merchandise surrounding the checkout line house a wide selection of novelty mugs and high-quality gift wrap – a great one-stop shop for gift giving indeed!
Looking for a deal? We were pleasantly surprised by the assortment of pantry and closet organization items at the Vaughan Mills HomeSense location. While this particular store isn’t as large as others on our list (it’s combined with a Winners location), we found staff to be friendly and very helpful. Just be sure to shop this location early in the day for the best selection; we found that by early evening the store becomes messy and a bit discouraging to shop through.
When you only have one HomeSense location in your town, it has got to be a good one! The Newmarket HomeSense store at Woodland Hills Shopping Centre is a great source for a mix of items from laundry storage solutions to decorative vases to quality bedding. While the clearance selection at this store isn’t the greatest (we found most items to be damaged or missing parts,) the inventory of new merchandise was incredible. In addition to shopping through the aisles, be sure to pull pieces from the curated displays found around the store (these items are for sale too and aren’t just for display!)
Situated right at Eglinton and Brentcliffe is a under-the-radar Homesense location that’s quietly known as the best one in Toronto. It’s larger than it looks, so don’t knock this store until you really explore. Here you can find everything from top-quality bedding and cookware, to decorative pillows and expensive looking on-trend furniture.
The mission all the way up to this Thornhill HomeSense location will be well worth it once you start filling your cart. This store has a well stocked cookware section filled with cookbooks, beautiful pots & pans, baking trays, cookware, utensils, and more. Not just that, but there’s a stellar selection of seasonal home decor, so if you’re looking to decorate for Halloween, this is the store to visit!
