Now that Labour Day has passed, marking the unofficial end of summer and beginning of fall, we’re officially in an autumn state of mind – no matter how warm it may be outside. While we wait for the weather to catch up to the season, there’s no better way to embrace fall than experimenting with some new makeup trends! This fall, there’s a recurring theme of boldness, from red lips to grungy glam, we can’t wait to try these makeup looks!
In junction with fall fashion, red is also having a major moment in the makeup scene! Red lips will always be a classic, but this fall they’re going to be bigger than ever. Find yourself a great velvety red lipstick to add to your makeup stash and play around with various looks! We find a red lip always looks best with a more neutral makeup featuring a winged liner.
Latte makeup took the world by storm this summer, and it’s not going anywhere for fall! We put together a guide on how to achieve the TikTok-viral makeup trend, and it’s actually quite easy! Who doesn’t love a bronzy makeup look?
As mentioned, it’s all about being bold this fall. So it’s time to try all the bold-eye makeup looks your heart desires! From heavy eyeliner, sparkly shadows, pigmented colours, and literally everything in between – it’s all on trend.
Although in the fall and winter months, some prefer a more matte finish, you can still achieve a glowy and healthy-looking complexion by having a great base of skin prep before you apply whatever foundation you want! We’ve been loving Rhode’s Glazing Milk for under makeup to provide a super luscious healthy skin finish.
As seen with the latte makeup trend as well as the newer coined strawberry girl makeup trend – something they both have in common is following a monochromatic colour scheme. There’s just something so chic about sticking with one colour for an entire makeup look, it’s universally flattering! Colours like brown, red, and even purple would work best for a monochromatic look.
Grungy glam, referencing ‘90s makeup looks is going to be a favourite makeup look for the season. To achieve the look you’ll need to apply thick eyeliner, a smoky eye, and some shimmer for the whole “glam” effect. For the lips go with a darker nude with some gloss on top – and voila! You look like you’re ready to walk down a ’90s runway.
Tying in with grungy glam is lined lips! The kind of lined lips that are a shade or two darker than the lip base – in true ‘90s essence. Throw a gloss on top for the perfect finishing touch.

You may have to wait for the weather to catch up to the season to start indulging in spring fashion, but you can always start playing around with this season’s makeup and hair trends! Every season we see a switch in the popular makeup and hairstyles, and while you don’t have to follow them, it can be a fun excuse to branch out of your comfort zone and try something new! The transition from winter to spring is a dramatic one, and it reflects in the trends. Say goodbye to dark and dramatic and hello to light and airy.
Or we should say, hair that looks unstyled. It’s like no-makeup makeup except for hair. This season it’s all about embracing your natural hair and ditching the hot tools more often for products that help your hair thrive in its natural state. A huge trick for accomplishing an “un-styled” hair look, is haircare! (Psst… If you’re struggling with dead ends K18’s Hair Mask is seriously magic.)
Tying in with a re-occurring spring theme of effortlessness – is claw clip hairstyles. There are surprisingly a lot of ways you can wear a claw clip, however, one of the most popular ways is just gathering all your hair to the back and clipping, even if it’s a little messy. It adds to the look. Claw clips have come a long way since the 90s when they had their original moment, now you can find them in all shapes, sizes, styles, and even some that are virtually indestructible (as you may have seen on TikTok).
The haircut of the season seems to be the bob. If you’re looking to take some weight off of your hair, there’s no better time than right before the heat kicks in! That being said, hair length trends tend to go in and out, so think hard before you go and chop your hair off, especially if your hair tends to take a while to grow! Maybe start with a couple of inches and work your way up.
For the moments when we’re not being so effortless, volume comes into play! There are tons of tools on the market to help you achieve the perfect at-home blow out like Dyson’s Airwrap, Revlon’s Ionic Hair Dryer and Volumizer, Hair Rollers, and this Heatless Curler Headband that people can’t seem to stop raving about.
Eyebrow trends are always ever-changing. We’ve gone from paper-thin brows to thick, drawn-on brows, to feathery brows, to soap brows, and now, lifted brows. It’s no secret that eyebrows can completely change the appearance of the face, so there’s this trick going around to give a non-surgical facelift by simply lifting the brows. Some people who have a heavier arch are literally shaving off the end of their brows to extend their brows in a more lifted manner, lifting the appearance of their face along with it. If you’re not down to shave off half of your eyebrow, feathery brows brushed upwards is another alternative.
If we had to choose one makeup product to keep in our collection this season, it would probably be blush. After all, it can be used as eyeshadow and lipstick, too! Don’t shy away from pink, rosy blushes this spring – the more the merrier! We, along with the rest of the world, are huge fans of Rare Beauty’s Soft Pinch Liquid Blush.
This one should come as no surprise as dewy skin and makeup is always a preferred choice come spring and summer. But, this spring we’re taking it up a notch. Dewy – almost wet-looking skin is the moment. Apply all your dewy makeup products, then douse your skin in a spray like Mac’s Fix+ to take it to the next level.
Kind of tying in with the dewy/wet skin look is shimmery eyeshadow. Ditch the matte eyeshadow for something ultra-shimmery like ColourPop’s Super Shock Shadows. It provides an editorial look with little to no effort! You don’t even need to layer it with other shadows if you don’t want to. Just pop it on your lid and you’re set.

2023 is officially in full swing, we’ve already talked about the fashion trends that will be prevalent this year, so now it’s time to talk about some beauty and makeup trends! From underpainting to the butterfly haircut, we’ve rounded up some of the top beauty trends that should be on your radar this year!
Although underpainting isn’t a new concept, it’s currently all the rage, thanks to celebrity makeup artist Mary Phillips (famously known for being Kendall Jenners and Hailey Bieber’s makeup artist) for bringing it to the public’s attention again. If you haven’t heard of underpainting, the idea is to contour and conceal – before putting on your foundation to give an overall more blended and natural look. The key is using a lighter coverage foundation, so you don’t make the initial steps disappear entirely.
Light coverage foundations and tinted serums alike will become even more popular throughout 2023. People are ditching their full-coverage foundation and opting for something more natural. An amazing drugstore option is L’Oréal’s True Match Tinted Serum.
As much as skincare isn’t really a trend, it’s self-care – 2023 is taking skincare regimes to a whole new level. Kind of tying in with light coverage makeup. People are choosing to invest in their skincare to get their skin at its most glowy and healthy state, rather than investing in makeup that simply covers it up.
Throughout 2022 we saw bleached brows become popular amongst some trendy individuals. At first, it seemed only the bravest trend-setters were participating in the bleached eyebrow trend, and as of lately it’s becoming a mainstream beauty practice.
Just as sparkles are having a trending moment in fashion, the sparkle trend is also getting carried over into makeup. The shimmery eyeshadow look that is typically sported in the evening, is now socially “acceptable” to wear casually in the daytime. So, if you want to swipe some shimmer on your lids before heading into work, we’re here for it.
Choppy layers, face-framing pieces, mullets, and “butterfly” cuts aren’t going away anytime soon! One reason people are loving these layered looks is that it allows you to experiment with different hairstyles that give a shorter-cut look, without having to actually cut off too much length.
As with pretty much any other “natural” trend, it’s not actually entirely natural, but it gives that illusion. This natural nail doesn’t mean to stop getting your nails done, in fact, it means getting your nails perfectly manicured, filed to a natural almond shape, not too long, and in a neutral colour. So in short, not really natural at all. It’s giving “no makeup, makeup”.
We’re going back to 90’s grunge makeup days with dark liner making a major comeback. The messier and more smudged the better. Pair a dramatic, lined eye with a lightweight makeup base and you’re set! Think Avril Lavigne or 90s runway.
That’s right, highlighters are coming back, although they never really fully left, they’ve taken some time out of the spotlight. We’re getting a flashback to the good ol’ Champagne Pop days. With the glowy and highlighted trend it isn’t just about wearing a shimmery highlighter, it’s about haven’t the dewiest skin you can achieve to go along with it – the goal is to trick people into thinking your face just might be wet. A blend of motorizing skincare, a dewy foundation, and a trusty highlight should do the trick.
As more body care brands pop up – like JLO Beauty for instance, it’s becoming a normal practice to treat the skin on our bodies just as well as the skin on our face! With care products, skin glows, and more – your body deserves some love and attention, too!
