Another iconic fashion collab is getting ready to launch shortly. Ready for this? Nike has partnered with Jacquemus to amp up female-focused athletic wear.
The founder of the fan-favourite luxury brand, Simon Porte Jacquemus, said in a statement, “For this collaboration with Nike, I wanted to create a collection that reinterprets athletic women’s sportswear in a minimal way. I have always been inspired by vintage ACG pieces and Nike campaigns from the ’90s. Having this imagery in mind, we designed women’s athletic wear with sensuous details and neutral colors, along with my own interpretation of the Humara, my favorite Nike shoe. It was important for the collection to be accessible for all bodies, and to be a natural blend of Jacquemus style and Nike performance.”
Apparel and footwear will be sold with the classic looks and statement designs from both brands. The line is described as redefining summer “ready-to-wear” with comfortable pieces for anywhere, anytime.

Drake recently dropped a new clothing label with Nike last week on December 18. The new label is called NOCTA and features black, yellow, and white colourways.
This may have been a massive hint that the rapper and brand were working together again after the Certified Lover Boy collection.
The first drop of NOCTA included puffer jackets, socks, track pants, hats, gloves, t-shirts, and more. Without surprise, the collab is totally sold out.
Drake said in a press release that, “NOCTA is about creating something for people on the move, people who want functional, comfortable fits that are adaptable from one environment to the next… With NOCTA, we were trying to make the hardest jacket, the hardest tracksuit, the hardest gloves. Just the best of that world.”
Stay tuned for the next drop.

If you love Nike as much as us, you’ll be happy to hear that the brand has something big in the works for 2020.
The store will be operated by Israel retail fashion chain Fox-Wizel Ltd. (Fox) and will span over two floors and 32,000-square-feet, making it the largest store that Fox operates anywhere across the globe. Fox currently operates seven other Nike stores in Canada, and Niketown is slated to open in November 2020.
Based on a rendering and sleuthing by Retail-Insider, the store looks like it will take over the current Zara Home and Le Chateau on the ground floor, and the former Home Outfitters on the second level.
Fox-Wizel Ltd.
Niketown offers a variety of different services and products. For example, Niketown New York offers personal run analysis, pant hemming, bra fitting, and personal shopping and styling. It also serves at a meet-up for Nike+, Nike’s run group. Globe notes that the large concept also offers regular Nike products and its technologies.
There are already Niketown’s across North America and Europe, however, this will be Toronto’s only Niketown. Retail-Insider points out that there once was a Niketown on Bloor St. West, but the concept was scaled back and the old Niketown location is now part of a Brooks Brothers store.
So we can expect it to stay put for a while once it’s open. Projected revenues for the store are over $20 million annually. We’ll keep you updated as more news arises.

In a time where retail stores seem to be holding on by a thread, we can’t help but wonder how our favourite brands are ranking in the grand scheme of things. In a report by Brandz that’s focused on the most valuable brands of the year, it’s clear that brand names that are focused on fashion did well, but also adapted to trends like inclusivity and sustainability ranked higher than brands that didn’t.
Brands like Lululemon and Nike who unite the community and have created a tribe ranked within the top 5 of this list. In addition to focusing on the community, brands that released limited-edition merchandise like adidas generated higher revenues.

Why Plus-Size Mannequins Shouldn’t Be Revolutionary, But They Are
H&M Just Announced A New Womenswear Collaboration
You may have seen the news recently, but Nike introduced some plus-size mannequins into its flagship London shop, and well, it caused some people to claim that the brand was “celebrating and promoting obesity”. Excuse me while I roll my eyes into the back of my head.
You know why? Because people of all sizes, even fat people, are allowed to exercise and the size of a person’s body cannot determine health – period. Let’s unpack this a little bit more.
View this post on Instagram
Our society’s preoccupation with beauty is almost obsessive. We have these standards we’ve been taught from a young age: be tall, skinny, have blonde hair, and fair skin. Stats have shown that 68 percent of American women wear a size 14 or above, which means the average everyday woman going out to shop in the US clothing industry identifies as plus size.
More and more, we need to be smashing down the Western beauty standards and fighting to have conversations around what bodies, what beauty standards, and what ideals are “normal” and therefore beautiful.
Instagram/@gattuso.zambrotta
As a fat person, people like to make off-handed comments to me, in one form or another, about my body. Not only is it obnoxious, but it is upsetting. These same people will also go online, and make comments saying how fat people should ‘lose weight’.
Not that any fat person should have to work out and want to lose weight as if the two are mutually exclusive. But many fat folks can find certain activities and spaces — like gyms — intimidating. So getting to see a body type like theirs being represented matters.
Furthermore, no matter what fat folks say or do, we live in a world which has largely accepted the idea that being fat is bad and being slim is beautiful.
Body image is developed in early childhood and more often than not, teens and youth will exhibit body dissatisfaction. Although this is just a mannequin, it gives us the opportunity to start having more body positive conservations with teens and youth and start breaking the barriers on who lives in a marginalized body. It can be a reminder to people that, ‘Yes, I’m here’ and that your body matters.

All the time, brands will introduce plus-sizes into their stores or online but won’t showcase them on plus-size bodies or busts. To me, that shows that they haven’t fully thought about creating a retail environment that includes me, and my body.
At the end of the day, the reason we need to keep fighting to have different sized mannequins is simple: it’s about visibility and it’s about fighting beauty standards.
