It’s a given that shopping involves spending money, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be smart about it and save a few dollars along the way! There are plenty of tips and tricks to help you save money while you shop. And in girl math, the money you save is just extra earnings in your pocket! From browser extensions to the best times to shop, consider this your savvy shopping guide.

Use these tips to save money the next time you go shopping:

Use Browser extensions, such as Honey

If you’re new to the world of browser extensions, you’re in for a treat. Honey, for example, is completely free to download, and it automatically searches for coupon codes while you shop. At checkout, you just click the Honey extension, and it does the rest – trying any and all recent coupon codes that customers have used on the specific site you’re shopping at. (Not sponsored, we just love it).

Wait for sales

It goes without saying, but we’re going to say it anyway – wait for sales. Especially if you’re planning on going on a shopping spree. That way, you’ll only spend a fraction of what you normally would. Different stores and brands have varying sale patterns, but dates like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Boxing Day, and towards the end of each season, are safe bets to expect markdowns. Also… you already know we love a good warehouse sale.

Make Wish Lists

One of the best ways to save money is by avoiding impulse buys. Keep a shopping wish list on hand and try not to stray from it. For example, if you notice a particular gap in your wardrobe, jot it down in your notes app and focus on shopping for the things on your wish list rather than just aimlessly shopping. You can also make wish lists directly on most online retailer’s websites in order to keep tabs on your most coveted pieces.

Pay With A Credit Card

You have to be careful with this one, as it can be all too easy to slip into debt, but simply paying with your credit card instead of debit or cash (only spending the amount you would on debit or cash, anyway) can earn you points and cashback (depending on your plan), but it also allows you to shop in a secure way.

Sign-Up For Emails

As much as no one likes receiving too many branded emails in their inbox, you never know when that one email with a coupon code or information on a limited-time sale will come in. It’s definitely worth signing up for your favourite brand’s email subscriptions! Fun fact: In our weekly newsletter, we always include a round-up of 20 sales happening at the moment. 😉

Join Rewards Programs

Almost every brand you shop at likely has some kind of rewards program at this point. Be sure to join the reward programs from your favourite brands to get all kinds of perks. Sephora, for example, offers a point-based rewards program, where you can earn points to get free products or money off – plus get access to exclusive discounts during sale times.

Know The Return Policy

We’ve all been guilty of buying an item, it not working out, and then it just ends up staying in the bag past the literal point of no return. Before buying anything, make sure to know the return policy, and actually return within the return window if it doesn’t end up working out! Otherwise, you might as well just throw out your money.

Compare Prices

Shopping savvy is all about making informed shopping decisions. Before pulling the trigger on a specific item, do your research to ensure you’re getting the best price.

Use Coupons

Whether you’re shopping online or in person, never neglect the power of a coupon! Browse the internet, check your mail for flyers, and tune into your favourite influencers offering discount codes!

Do Your Own Quality Inspecting

When shopping in person, always do your own quality inspection. Check for any flaws, loose seams, or signs of a poorly made item. Follow @wangjenniferr on TikTok for tips on what to look for when checking garments for quality. When shopping online, be sure to perform your own little inspection when you receive it before pulling off any tags.

Abercrombie has come a long way in recent years. The brand that was once known for its lack of inclusivity and questionable business practices has slowly been earning back the trust of its customers since its rebrand. Now, Abercrombie & Fitch has once again become a go-to shopping destination to find fashion essentials that people actually want – ditching heavy logos and an overall “fraternity” aesthetic for wearable, more sophisticated closet staples. In 2021, it launched its famous Curve Love Fit, and a range of extended sizing, signaling that it was (finally) ready to embrace inclusivity.

Now that Abercrombie has earned its way back into public graces, having established a large cult following on TikTok, specifically. It’s no secret that the brand has grown into a popular shopping hub for trendy styles and wardrobe basics alike. But before you fill your shopping bag and click “checkout,” – there are some tips and secrets you need to know to get the most out of your experience.

You need to know these Abercrombie & Fitch shopping secrets!

Popular Items Sell Out Fast

If you’ve ever visited the Abercrombie site looking forward to buying an item you were recommended by your fave TikToker, chances are, it’s already sold out. Sizes of popular items are notorious for selling out fast. But they do almost always come back in stock, so be sure to check back often.

Curate a List

When shopping online (or in-app), you can add items to your list to keep tabs on them with ease. This is an especially useful tool for those sold-out items you want to keep an eye on!

Check For Stackable Coupons

You may remember a couple of years back, Abercrombie had a major viral moment with its stackable coupon “glitch.” Customers were getting hauls of clothing for mere dollars (guilty as charged). Although nothing with as significant of savings has seemed to happen since, there are still times when certain coupons are stackable. So it’s always worth a try!

Wait For A Sale

Abercrombie is no stranger to a promotion or sale. While some items you may want to act fast on so they don’t sell out – some pieces are worth waiting until they to go on sale. The brand’s sales are usually pretty great, too (and are held often)!

Keep Tabs On Socials

As we mentioned above, Abercrombie has quite the social media following. Find social accounts that share sale updates and other valuable information to always have the inside scoop. For example, @influencedby_ on TikTok is always sharing sale alerts, and A&F is definitely on her radar.

Create A myABERCROMBIE Account & Subscribe To Emails

As with any retailer or brand, you are going to want to subscribe to Abercrombie’s email list to get exclusive offers and stay up to date on new arrivals. Plus, if you make a myABERCROMBIE account, you’ll earn points as you shop and get exclusive member discounts from time to time. Members can earn up to 100,000 myAbercrombie points (or $400 value in Rewards) per calendar year. After spending $500 in a year, you automatically get VIP status – which comes with even more perks.

Enjoy Free Returns

Whether you purchased online or in-store, you have 30 days to return your items in their original condition for a full refund. Just be sure to keep your receipt!

Get Free Shipping When You Spend $90

Abercrombie seems to always be offering free shipping if you spend $90 or more. While you may not want to spend $90 in order to get free shipping, you’ll find it’s not all that hard to do. Wait until your cart hits the mark to press the checkout button to save some extra dollars!

Explore Its Curve Love Fit

If you’ve ever struggled to find your perfect fit that provides room in the hips and thighs yet still hugs your waist in the right way, Abercrombie’s Curve Love is about to be your new best friend. The line features additional room (two extra inches) through the hip and thigh for curve-hugging comfort. The fit is great for curvy gals in standard or plus sizes.

Get Your Perfect Hem Length

One of Abercrombies saving graces is that it offers extra short, short, regular, long, and extra long sizing for its bottoms. We, as humans, come in all different heights, after all, so shouldn’t our pants, too? A&F says yes.

“…The vision for ROYALMOUNT has always been to foster human connections, create a center of community, and usher in a new era of inclusive luxury for the city. Over the coming weeks, we will welcome new brands, restaurants and concepts, making ROYALMOUNT one of the most exciting places to visit in Montreal for all generations,” says Andrew Lutfy, CEO of Carbonleo and lead ROYALMOUNT investor.

It’s no secret that vintage and resale fashion has been on the rise. More people are embracing secondhand fashion for various reasons, from sustainability to economics to aesthetics. Recently, resale went even more mainstream with the cameo of Vestiaire Collective in the new season of hit Netflix show, Emily in Paris! “This partnership marks a significant milestone towards the integration of circular fashion into mainstream programs, and reflects the importance of the fashion resale market today,” says Fanny Moizant, co-founder and president of Vestiaire Collective.

Ahh, SSENSE, the one-stop-shop of all fashion-lovers dreams. The Montreal-based e-comm retailer is known for its massive selection of high-end and up-and-coming designer names in both men’s and women’s categories. Aimlessly browsing and shopping the SSENSE site is very tempting. But before you hit check-out, there are some tips and tricks you should be utilizing while you shop to get the best bang for your buck and find the best pieces the site has to offer.

Become an SSENSE-shopping pro with these tips and tricks:

Wait For The Sale

As of lately, SSENSE seems to always have a major sale going on (including right now!), allowing you to score heavy discounts (up to 70% off usually), on a ton of great pieces! There’s no telling what will go on sale before it does, but it’s usually past-season’s findings to make room for new items. You can even filter your searches so you only see the items that are on sale – weeding out the rest.

Pay Attention To Low Stock Memos

As much as the rule of patience usually pays off when shopping on SSENSE, there’s nothing worse than going back to realize what you were hoping to buy is now sold out. Luckily, SSENSE gives a memo if particular pieces are running low (in the section where you go to select your size), so you can better judge if it’s worth the risk of waiting it out for a lower price.

Add To Wishlist

To avoid mindless spending (and on SSENSE, it can be oh-so-tempting), add your coveted pieces to your wishlist to shop more meaningfully and keep tabs on the items you’re hoping to buy.

Shop By Designer

The SSENSE website carries over 60,000 items from more than 500 brands. So, browsing its selection can get overwhelming, to say the least. Shopping by your favourite designers allows you to explore the pieces you’re more likely to be interested in, saving you ample time scrolling.

Become an SSENSE+ Member

SSENSE+ members get perks that allow for an elevated shopping experience. As soon as you make an account and a purchase, you’re automatically enrolled in the program! For every dollar spent, you’ll earn a point, and the more points you earn, the more offers and perks you receive – which includes access to the private sale, insider updates, exclusive offers, and more!

Download The App

Sometimes retailer apps don’t nearly compare to just shopping the website, however the SSENSE app is actually super user-friendly and makes shopping the selections really easy. The more you use it, the app will better be able to offer you a personalized shopping experience.

Sign Up For Emails

If you want to get the most out of shopping at SSENSE, signing up for the SSENSE newsletter is a must. You’ll be sent new drops, sale information, and other important updates you’ll want to be aware of.

Price Match

One of the best perks that SSENSE offers is price matching. “If an item is sold by another online retailer at a lower price, SSENSE will match their price.”, as stated in its Price Protection Policy. That means, if you can find a beloved pair of Margiela Tabi’s at a lower price and it shares the same style, size, colour, material, and season (and is listed as full-price), SSENSE will honour that price. Find more information on price matching here.

Check Out The ‘Everything Else’ Tab

Did you know SSENSE has so much more to offer than just strictly fashion? In the “Everything Else” tab, you can find, well… everything else that SSENSE carries, including coffee table books, fragrance, home decor, pet supplies, and so. much. more.

Utilize Customer Service

Directly on the SSENSE site, you can access customer service through its “Live Assistance” chat box, (located at the bottom right of the screen) and ask them about everything from shipping updates to additional product information.

“This is a huge moment for Ahiri and our team couldn’t be more excited to offer a fresh retail experience. Ahiri is all about timeless designer fashion and now our customers can get a behind-the-scenes look at our creative process and give their own input. The relationship with our customers will become more intimate, as they will now be reflected in our upcoming collections in a deeper way,” says Michael Jafine, head of design, Ahiri.

Ahiri’s first store will house its design studio on the retail floor! This will allow customers to be part of the label’s design process and access what most labels keep behind the scenes, offering a deeper connection between Ahiri and its audience.

“Co-locating our retail, designer studio, office, and warehouse will save time, resources, and allow Ahiri to streamline its operations. Our customers can see what Michael is working on, give their feedback and be a meaningful part of Ahiri’s ecosystem. They will get a behind-the-scenes look at the design process, including mood boards, fabric swatches and other in-studio accoutrements,” says Sheetu Latif, CEO and co-founder, Ahiri.

Like many retail stores, H&M tends to organize its inventory in categories and departments. Its Divided line, for example, is catered to a younger audience, so it tends to be slightly more affordable and can even be relatively smaller in size. Its Studio collection is reserved for limited-edition drops and capsule collections, and its Premium Collection features a variety of timeless pieces with a premium look and feel. There are also labels such as Workwear, Everyday Wear, and Trend. In-store, they’re usually bunched together, so it’s easier to tell them apart.

Shop During The Week

If you can help it, it’s always a better shopping experience if you can visit your local H&M during off-times, like a weekday morning. The store can get easily crowded, and in turn a little messy and unorganized on a busy weekend day.

Browse Online

If you find shopping in person at H&M overwhelming, you’re not alone. By opting to shop online, you can browse through way more options that could possibly be carried in-store and curate your search with the click of a button. Shopping online is especially helpful when it comes to looking for deals, as it can be so much easier to sift through a page than an over-stuffed rack.

Try Visual Search In The H&M App

Have you ever seen something online or while out and about and thought to yourself, “I need to have that,” but can’t find the specific item? We’ve all been there. Boho-chic is back, and it got a makeover! Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have entered the chat. Back in the early 2000s, the boho-chic fashion aesthetic was huge. Popularly being worn by it-girls such as the Olsen twins, Nicole Richie, and even Gossip Girl’s Serena Van Der Woodsen. You may remember the boho fashion with a hippie-like, maximal approach, and although some core traits are being carried forward into today’s version of the trend, there’s an overall more refined feel to the new boho-chic.

The resurgence of the trend was made extra concrete with the virality of Chloé’s latest runway show (Chemena Kamili’s debut collection for the brand). She said it best to Vogue when asked about the return of boho-chic: “I think there’s this longing for undone-ness and freedom and softness and movement…” The designs in the show featured flowy silhouettes, shirred necklines, statement accessories, large sunglasses, and an overall bohemian vibe that felt fresh and nostalgic at the same time. Boho-chic doesn’t stop at Chloé, though; there are plenty of places to shop the new-and-improved trend.
