It’s a given that shopping involves spending money, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be smart about it and save a few dollars along the way! There are plenty of tips and tricks to help you save money while you shop. And in girl math, the money you save is just extra earnings in your pocket! From browser extensions to the best times to shop, consider this your savvy shopping guide.
If you’re new to the world of browser extensions, you’re in for a treat. Honey, for example, is completely free to download, and it automatically searches for coupon codes while you shop. At checkout, you just click the Honey extension, and it does the rest – trying any and all recent coupon codes that customers have used on the specific site you’re shopping at. (Not sponsored, we just love it).
It goes without saying, but we’re going to say it anyway – wait for sales. Especially if you’re planning on going on a shopping spree. That way, you’ll only spend a fraction of what you normally would. Different stores and brands have varying sale patterns, but dates like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Boxing Day, and towards the end of each season, are safe bets to expect markdowns. Also… you already know we love a good warehouse sale.
One of the best ways to save money is by avoiding impulse buys. Keep a shopping wish list on hand and try not to stray from it. For example, if you notice a particular gap in your wardrobe, jot it down in your notes app and focus on shopping for the things on your wish list rather than just aimlessly shopping. You can also make wish lists directly on most online retailer’s websites in order to keep tabs on your most coveted pieces.
You have to be careful with this one, as it can be all too easy to slip into debt, but simply paying with your credit card instead of debit or cash (only spending the amount you would on debit or cash, anyway) can earn you points and cashback (depending on your plan), but it also allows you to shop in a secure way.
As much as no one likes receiving too many branded emails in their inbox, you never know when that one email with a coupon code or information on a limited-time sale will come in. It’s definitely worth signing up for your favourite brand’s email subscriptions! Fun fact: In our weekly newsletter, we always include a round-up of 20 sales happening at the moment. 😉
Almost every brand you shop at likely has some kind of rewards program at this point. Be sure to join the reward programs from your favourite brands to get all kinds of perks. Sephora, for example, offers a point-based rewards program, where you can earn points to get free products or money off – plus get access to exclusive discounts during sale times.
We’ve all been guilty of buying an item, it not working out, and then it just ends up staying in the bag past the literal point of no return. Before buying anything, make sure to know the return policy, and actually return within the return window if it doesn’t end up working out! Otherwise, you might as well just throw out your money.
Shopping savvy is all about making informed shopping decisions. Before pulling the trigger on a specific item, do your research to ensure you’re getting the best price.
Whether you’re shopping online or in person, never neglect the power of a coupon! Browse the internet, check your mail for flyers, and tune into your favourite influencers offering discount codes!
When shopping in person, always do your own quality inspection. Check for any flaws, loose seams, or signs of a poorly made item. Follow @wangjenniferr on TikTok for tips on what to look for when checking garments for quality. When shopping online, be sure to perform your own little inspection when you receive it before pulling off any tags.

Shopping at a warehouse sale is no ordinary shopping experience. It’s like a treasure hunt with gems everywhere you look! That being said, if you’re new to the world of warehouse sales, it can feel a little intimidating. But don’t fret – you’ve come to the right place. Having hosted hundreds of them ourselves, we’ve picked up some key tips along the way.

Since we don’t have designated changing rooms, it’s a good idea to wear an outfit that you can easily try things on over. We always have plenty of mirrors around the sales floor so you can check out how items look!
With so many items to shop, a second opinion from someone you trust is super helpful. A good shopping buddy is always honest—and it doesn’t hurt to have some friendly company while you shop.
If you have the time, try to visit the sale on multiple days. We are always restocking with new items, and markdowns typically get even deeper on weekends.

Make sure to go through all the sections—women’s, men’s, and kids—you never know what great deal you could find!
To avoid getting overwhelmed by the sheer amount of options to shop, go in with a list of items you’re on the hunt for. For example, if you’re attending an Adidas sale, some items on your wish list may be a pair of runners, an oversized hoodie, gym shorts, etc.
We only take credit and debit, so be sure to have your cards on hand.

The best way to stay up to date on sale news, line wait times, contests, and more is to follow us on Instagram. We’ve also been known to hide gift cards, revealing their hiding spots on our Instagram stories (shh).
If you want to truly be a warehouse sale shopping pro, you’re going to need to join SDCLUB+. By joining, you’ll be the first to know about upcoming sales, skip the line, get exclusive discounts, and more.

Are you an avid customer at Shoppers Drug Mart? The Canadian retail pharmacy chain is a great one-stop-shop to grab all of your essentials—and non-essentials, too! If you’re looking to save some extra cash on your next Shoppers Drug Mart shopping trip, then you’ve come to the right place.
The very first step if you want to save money is to get yourself a PC Optimum card. With each shopping trip, you can accumulate points and eventually redeem them for dollar amounts off of your purchases.
If you’re planning to shop ’til you drop at Shoppers Drug Mart, you should definitely wait until there’s a promotion going on. Typically, these promos allow you to rack up bonus points for spending certain amounts of money and also for redeeming points that you’ve already accumulated. As if you needed an excuse to spend more on household necessities and treat-worthy items!
Always keep an eye out for the weekly flyer. You’ll be able to scope out all of the deals for that week and be sure that you don’t miss any!
Shoppers Drug Mart will usually have pop-up deals every week that are only available within a one to two-day period. These promos are usually the best savings throughout the store, so keep an eye out for those too.
If you’re browsing through the food section, you may come across red and white manager stickers. These have been placed on items with an upcoming expiry date, so you’ll be able to get a discount on the product.
Another Shoppers Drug Mart money-saving tip is to never skip out on the clearance rack! Always be sure to check it out before leaving the store so you don’t miss out on any awesome deals.
Download the PC Optimum App to get personalized offers, tailoring deals to the items you buy most! You can also download the PC Health App in order to manage prescriptions, book appointments, and earn even more PC points.
You may be surprised by what deals you may find just with a simple Google search! There are always coupons floating around for specific items at Shoppers on websites like WagJag and Love Coupons, for instance.
Shoppers Drug Mart participates in most major holidays, offering gift-appropriate items and treats for various occasions, including Valentine’s Day, Easter, Christmas, Mother’s and Father’s Day, etc. If you visit a Shoppers store just after a holiday, you’re likely to find the leftover stock on sale, allowing you to shop anything from chocolate to toys at a discount.
There’s no bigger waste of money than keeping something you’ll never use. Shoppers Drug Mart allows returns and exchanges within 30 days of purchase with your receipt. So if you need to return something for one reason or another, you have plenty of time to get your money back!

Now that we’re well into 2024, you may be craving a vacation. Whether that simply be some time off work and enjoying a little staycation somewhere nearby or travelling and indulging in a full-on getaway. It’s no secret that vacations of any kind can be pricey. That being said, there are definitely ways to ease down on the cost and plan a budget-friendly vacation. If you know one thing about us, it’s that we love a deal. We’ve rounded up some of the best tips and tricks to help make your next vacation as budget-friendly as possible!
The first, and probably most obvious tip, is to plan your budget. Find out exactly how much you want to spend on your vacation to help manage your expectations and whether you should opt for a staycation or to travel – and for how long.
Whether it be a flight, hotel, or both, the price is usually way lower than a last-minute trip if you book as far in advance as possible!
Creating an itinerary will help you plan out what exactly you are going to spend. And sticking to a plan will help avoid overspending in the moment (we’ve all been there).
One of the most costly parts of a vacation is eating out. However, if you plan out your meals and how often you are willing to eat out, you can save quite a bit! Depending on your individual vacation plans, it will vary how much you can meal plan. If the location you’re staying in is equipped for cooking, making some of your own meals will save you a ton. If you’re travelling somewhere like a resort, check out the packages and try and book something all-inclusive so you don’t have to give your meals a second thought!
Prices tend to vary on flights depending on what time you’re flying. From the day of the week to the time of the day all the way to the month you’re travelling. (August, for example, is a great time to travel to save costs).
If you’re going on vacation with a group, always have the budget discussion in advance! You don’t want to get stuck spending more than everyone else. Things like food, transportation, hotels, Airbnbs, etc. can all be split up to ensure no one is spending more than their share.
Make a list of everything you’ll need over your trip and check it over a few times to ensure you didn’t miss anything! This will save you from having to buy any supplies on the go (where it may be more expensive). Although you want to pack everything you need, you also don’t want to over-pack. Especially if you’re flying, if you want to save from having to check a bag.
While you’re commuting to different locations throughout your travels, the cheapest way to get from point A to point B is either walking or public transportation. Rental cars, Ubers, and cabs can really add up!
You should never travel out of the country without travel insurance. Travel insurance covers different risks while travelling, ensuring you don’t have to empty your pockets in case of an emergency. It’s better to be safe than sorry!
