Business Insider is reporting that Apple sold more watch units than the entire Swiss watch industry combined last quarter. These insights come from the researches Canalys and IDC who discovered that Apple sore approximately 8 million Apple Watches, which dwarves the Swiss watch industry. Business Insider points out that Apple has only been manufacturing watches for four years compared to the Swiss watch industry which includes Rolex and Omega who have been making watches for centuries. While some point out that due to the price point it’s not entirely fair to compare Rolex and Omega to Apple, but the Swiss watch industry also includes Swatch – the low price high selling watch company.
With plans on expanding their wearable tech offerings, Apple will continue to crush competition in any arena they decide to enter.
