The first Cocktail Emporium opened up shop on Queen St. West in 2011, right before Toronto’s cocktail culture began to step up its game like never before, and at a time when home cocktail-making was about to have a major (and lasting) moment.
The Kensington Market location, based at 20 Kensington Ave., is Cocktail Emporium's second location. With a pink exterior, the store is a popular Instagram backdrop and the inside of the store is just as picture-perfect; filled with stylish and functional bar tools, bitters of all kinds, glassware, and more.
With a soft spot for cocktails and vintage design, the store's owner, Kristen Voisey, has turned Cocktail Emporium into a retail success story.
The idea came to life in 2010 after Voisey decided to leave the hotel industry for something more inspiring. Today, the company has three locations across the city, including the newest location in Union Station. They also boast an expansive online store that's shopped by people across the globe.
The shop serves a steady stream of cocktail-craving and cocktail-curious customers.
In addition to curating some of the best barware, bitters, recipe books, and beyond from across the globe, and also has its own in-house line of beautiful bar tools and glassware dubbed Potion House.
Another thing that makes the Cocktail Emporium standout amongst other boutiques is the knowledgeable staff.
The team that works there is able to help find the right products and give expert recommendations. From home bartenders to top professional mixologists, the store is loved by all cocktail enthusiasts.
Even during COVID closures, Cocktail Emporium continues to bring in new products every week to their online shop. They offer free shipping in Canada for orders over $100 and contactless curbside pick-up.
