When it comes to swimwear, finding the perfect fit for your body isn't always easy. Our shapes are unique and the perfect bathing suit should make us feel comfortable and confident, which isn't always the case when you shop something off-the-rack. Luckily, there's ŪNIKA Swim.
Founded by Betsy Campos, ŪNIKA Swim is a Toronto-based brand that provides custom and pre-made swimwear for all ages, shapes, and sizes. The shop is located in Yorkville and everything from the custom fittings to the design and tailoring happens in-store.
ŪNIKA comes from the Latin word “Unica” meaning only one, one of a kind, and unique.
The line was inspired by the summers that Campos spent in Brazil, where beachwear is ingrained into the culture. After seeing how confidently women from diverse backgrounds and varying body types were in their swimsuits, Campos was motivated to provide that same confidence through a swimwear line of her own. "Every women's body shape is different and unique, and so are their life experiences, personalities, and tastes," Campos says. "I [want] women to be able to reflect their uniqueness and be confident in their choices, especially when they are the most exposed."
The ŪNIKA Swim store opened in 2018 and sells swimwear all year-round.
The process of getting a custom piece is simple. Shoppers can book a private in-store appointment through the brand's website and browse through dozens of different colours. The fabric used in each piece is sustainable and made from 100% regenerated nylon yarn.
While you can choose from the styles that ŪNIKA has on hand, the team also works collaboratively so whether you have a design in mind or want to recreate an old swimsuit you already love, ŪNIKA can make it happen.

In-store, you'll find ready-to-wear swimwear for women and children that's all made in-house. And if you want to match your little one, you can do that, too. The styles available are infinite — from classic bikinis to trendier pieces like one-shoulder tops and high-cut bottoms and mesh coverups, there is something for everyone to shop.
