While some coffee chains are removing Beyond Meat from its menus, others are just hopping on the bandwagon. It’s just been announced that coffee house Starbucks will be adding the plant-based alternative to its menu.
Starbucks’ new Beyond Meat, Cheddar and Egg Sandwich will officially launch on March 3.
This ain’t just any old plant-based patty we’re talking about. Starbucks worked closely with Beyond Meat to create a delicious recipe that met the chain’s high expectations for taste and experience.
This news is super exciting because us Canadians will be the first to try these meat-free breakfast sandos.
Wondering what it’ll taste like? The plant-based patty is topped with cheddar cheese and egg on an tasty artisanal bun. The patty itself is made with a special blend of herbs and spices that include oregano, basil, rosemary, and fennel. Long story short — it doesn’t sound like it’ll be lacking in flavour.
This isn’t Starbucks’ first step into plant-based options as recently the chain started offering non-dairy drinks made with coconut and almond milk.
While this is the only menu item (for now) to feature Beyond Meat, it joins a whole selection of meat-free breakfast options at Starbucks. The chain currently has meat-free menu items like Egg White & Roasted Red Pepper Sous Vide Egg Bites, Spinach, Feta & Cage-Free Egg White Wrap, classic oatmeal, and more.
